We stayed at the Ashwood recently so that we would have easy access to our cottage for renovations. Because we have a cottage nearby, we have never looked for hotels in the area before. This was at the end of October, so we were not looking for beach time. We had our dog with us, and wanted a clean, quiet place with easy access to Bayfield. The Ashwood is perfect! And we will stay there again next time we are up doing renovations.

Check in was contactless; they texted you with details about how to access your room, and you texted them once you were in the room. Then they emailed the invoice/receipt after you checked out. Pretty perfect with Covid.

Our room was #19, at the back of the property (not facing the highway) so it was quiet. The flooring in the room is plank vinyl which keeps everything clean - with a pet friendly place it can be hard to keep carpets free of pet dander and smell. The bathroom was recently renovated so it was clean and updated. The room itself had lots of room to walk around and sit to watch TV if you weren't ready for bed. We are not coffee drinkers but it looked like there was a good supply of pods for those who do drink coffee. The towels were ample sized and plush, bed was very comfortable and the pillow choice was marvelous (you each get one soft pillow and one hard pillow so you can choose the one that is best for you). The best part was the cute little trail at the back of the hotel, lined with little lights so we can take our pooches out for a little walk or pee, without navigating the nearby busy road. It was not a small strip, it was literally a quaint, forested trail. Thanks Ashwood! See you again soon.

Lovely refurbished inn, close to the Bayfield River, which has excellent fishing. The rooms are modern, water is hot with great pressure. Gentle tones of soft white and dove grey welcome you. Trails lead from the property.
Dinner was perfectly spiced and authentic. Large outdoor patio with a view of trees to the north. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. Thanks so much!

We have visited Ashwood few times now and enjoyed each time we stayed.
Recently, we rented the King Suite, a large and an extremely comfortable room with all the amenities one could wish for including a microwave and a fridge; we loved this suite!
The location of this Inn is perfect because it is close to both a lovely small town of Bayfield and the many beautiful Lake Huron beaches such as the one at Pinery Provincial Park. There is a superb pizza take out in Bayfield called Pizza By The Square that we highly recommend.
We must mention Heer, our new friend at Ashwood who did everything possible to make our stay that much more enjoyable, thank you Heer ..... Gladys & Richard.
We will be back at Aswhood again because it is the one of the best places to stay at Lake Huron.

The inn needs to pay attention to cleaning such as inside the microwave (food stain), the toilet paper holder (spit stain), the bathroom exhaust vent (quite dusty), and the towels are yellowing. The toilet and tub are small. The swimming pool's water is cold, the entire space shows water damages from ceiling to walls, the door leading to outside does not lock. The pool liner is not completely attached to the pool. The lights in the trail were broken. There is no view to Lake Huron; the website is deceiving. The rear parking area is too close to the rooms.

The good things are: one does not hear the next room and the bedding is adequately comfortable.

We stayed during Aug 2020 and found the Inn to be clean, the staff friendly and rooms updated. They insisted on prebooking the pool which seemed a little ridiculous since there were very few people there when we were since it was mid-week. Nice outdoor patio area and a large open outdoor space that desperately needs an outdoor pool. This would seriously lift up their potential. Restaurant was closed due to Covid-19 however we had no issues finding places to eat nearby. Management staff were lovely and checked in regularly to ensure our stay was great.

Our Indian food take out meals from the Ashwood Inn were absolutely delicious and the hotel staff there was extremely helpful and friendly. We enjoyed very tasty, generous portions of butter chicken, pilau rice and naan which were all reasonably priced. The Ashwood Inn is located at the corner of Highway 21 and Bayfield River Road just outside of Bayfield. From the Ashwood Inn it is just a five minute drive across the Bayfield River bridge into the village of Bayfield.

The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the building quiet which led to a restful night. The Inn is close to Bayfield for an easy access to the beach or local amenities. The front desk staff was kind, helpful and gave each of us bottled water for the day’s travels. I just wish they served breakfast.

The Ashwwod Inn is in a convenient location minutes from Bayfield Main St and 20 minutes either way to Grand Bend and Goderich. Very attentive staff and surprised my mom with a bottle of champagne! Everything as expected from the website details. Definitely will be back.

Very outdated motel. We stayed here for one night and we would not recommend it. There were several hairs on the ceiling in the shower, the bathroom towels were not white any more and one of them even had a few stains on it. My family stayed in a suit and paid $315 per night and it definitely was not worth it. The main level had a small tv and the upper level with the loft had no TV. Not worth the money. There isn’t even night stands by your bed, they have outdoor cheap patio tables as night stands.
This motel has potential to be better but upgrades definitely need to be made. Pictures on the website look great but I think they were taken several years ago.
Next time my family comes back, we will definitely stay in Goodrich.

If u have been at The Ashwood before u would know that u would have access to private beach .... well bc of “Covid “ it’s not available anymore even though when asked a month ago and I precisely asked if private beach was open they said yes.... but supposedly I miss understood .and check in at 4:00 ( bc of Covid)not 3 not like my email receipt said and pool only for an hour. Not worth spending the money might as well go to cheaper hotel .... less service same price
