My husband and I stayed at a cottage at the Seascape Coastal Retreat for 4 nights during our stay on Cape Breton Island. The location of the cottages couldn't have been more perfect, with each cottage having an amazing view of the water! The cottages themselves are extremely nice. They are very spacious, extremely clean and have all the amenities that one could need. We were impressed with the amount of space to spread out and also the quality of the beds and pillows. Although there was no one coming in to clean the cottage due to covid, the trash and towels were changed every day and sheets were changed on the 3rd day. They also left Tim Horton coffee pods each time for the keurig, a very nice touch. Each cottage is extremely private and we hardly saw any of the other people staying there. The outside deck with Adirondack chairs was a perfect spot to have morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. The large picture window in the front of the cottage allows you not to miss a view even when you are inside. If we return to this area again we would absolutely stay at Seascape Coastal Retreat without question!

This has been the nicest place I’ve stayed on Cape Breton Island so far (traveling counter clockwise). Spotlessly clean, modern, no contact checkin, private, quiet cottages. Just across the street is the Periwinkle Cafe with excellent local cuisine. Highly recommend!

A wonderful stay at their cottage colony, the cottage was cute and very well appointed, right on the ocean with beautiful views of the bay. Julie and Rod made our stay so pleasant, with advice on places to visit and even left us a map in our room with some hand written advice. Our own personal hot tub in cottage 4 (most cottages had them), kitchen had small sink, microwave and two burner stove top with all the necessary pots, pans & utensils. Bed was Queen with comfy pillows and a fan which I used for white noise. Loveseat in living room was a bit lumpy, and could have used another indirect light in living room. Bathroom was up to date jetted tub and shower, and place was sparkling clean. Our unit wasn’t very private, would suggest booking cottage 8 or 9 which seemed more private. Still had a nice skinny dip though ;). Cottages all have cute gas fireplace stoves, added to charm. Gardens were beautiful and again hosts were super friendly and helpful, even offered us a refund so we could leave early to get out of the way of Hurricane Fiona. Great people, great place, would definitely come back - note best fall foliage is mid October, starting around Columbus Day for a week or two, a bit later than New England where I am from, as climate is a bit warmer.

We had a lovely three nights here. The cabins all have a wonderful water view and a hot tub on the porch with a water view as well. The cabins are cozy, comfy, and very tidy. I was impressed by the fact that they service the hot tub each day; hot tubs are wonderful but can pose potential health problems if they aren’t maintained. You also have significant privacy. The location is the best that I could see in Ingonish - on the water side. Most of the other cabins are across the road from the water

We highly recommend this place. Well located, adults-only with limited numbers of people in a cottage. That means a quiet, restful, place. One-bedroom cottages, with small kitchen spaces in the living room. The view looks out onto the Bay in Ingonish. In our case a hot tub on the deck with the same view. A lovely quiet garden space with a few places for 2-3 people to gather made for a pleasant place to work on some writing.

With Covid protocols in place, we only saw our hosts outside and briefly but they had sent many emails with lots of information about the area. Checkin and out went seamlessly without contact. When we needed anything they were very responsive on email or phone.

Beautiful views of the bay and colourful garden surrounded our cottage. Beds and linens were very comfortable! Cottage has small well stocked kitchenette. Bathroom was a good size with a nice selection of towels. Our cabin had a hot tub on the deck that was spotless and the whole place was extremely clean. Location is great just off Cabot Trail but only ocean sounds could be heard, no traffic noise! Air conditioning but we did not use as we kept windows all open allowing for nice breeze. Gas stove warmed us up and helped take dampness away after the rain.

This place has it all! There's a view from each cottage, there's a trail down to the beach, a hot tub (feels especially good after a long hike), and a separate bedroom so one of you can get up early without bothering the other one!
The owner, Rod, was kind enough to set us up with a lobster pot, long tongs, crackers (for breaking the lobster shells), and instructions on how to cook them outside! We were thrilled with the results and with the whole place!

We paid for this facility but ended up not staying here so I won't comment on the rooms. However we changed our itinerary and had to cancel the room but was told there is a 14 day advance cancellation policy. Totally beyond any other place I have stayed at in 50 years of travel and not even a partial cancellation - they took full payment. In addition we had to sign a waiver in advance that stated no children, no pets and absolutely no guests. We were so off put by these unfriendly policies that we didn't even use it for part of our trip. There are too many other places to stay in the area to accept this.

We had booked our 3 night stay at Seascape in 2020, cancelled to 2021 then cancelled again to 2022 (we are from the UK). We were so excited to stay here, we arrived early on our check in day and had coffee across the road at Salty Rose’s and The Periwinkle Cafe. We were given Cottage no 8, which had a wonderful sea view from both sides, and a lovely deck with seating and a BBQ.
Inside, the cottage was spotlessly clean, and there was plenty of room for our cases, and toiletries etc.
I just loved going to sleep on the super comfy bed listening to the sound of the waves lapping on the beach.
We especially loved the beautiful gardens with so many bird feeders, and took lots of photos of the Ruby Throated hummingbirds on Julie’s feeder.
Thanks so much for such a lovely stay Rod and Julie

Best play to stay in the area for sure! We stayed here for two nights and travelled around the Cabot Trail visiting different must see sites. We did a few hiking trails and a road trip to Meat Cove. The best gift shop on the Cabot Trail is right across the road - The Groovy Goat! Ask to stay in Cabin 8 as we think it has the best views. All the rooms were very private and you couldn't see your neighbours because of the way they are placed on the property. Nice porch to sit on and view the water with a glass of wine or your morning coffee. Well equipped cabins with everything you need if you wanted to cook in your room. Comfortable sitting area to read or watch the TV. The bed was very comfortable and everything in the cabin was in great shape and good working order. Very quiet and clean as a whistle. Thank you for a wonderful stay and can't wait to come back!
