With Covid, we weren’t expecting a whole lot and we weren’t shocked upon arrival. Called first and found out there wouldn’t be a coffee maker, cups etc. So we brought our own!
The price was a little high for an October visit, however, we found that all hotels had not lowered their rates for the seasonal change.
Overall the room was clean, we were given any extras ie towels for our room for the four of us.
It was a convenient place with awesome restaurants nearby, shops and grocery store.
The beach is right there and a walkway to see it all.

Very friendly reception, great location right on the (stony) beach and otherwise standard rooms with good working air conditioning. The motel is right on the busy Sunshine Coast Highway, but fortunately there is little traffic there at night and it was quite quiet. The rooms were clean and equipped with everything you need. I would book it again.

The Driftwood Inn is a 2.5 star motel in a 5 star location. It's wonderful to step outside the motel and be at the beach and ocean. There's a very nice walk along the waterfront, and you're across the street from a rec center, restaurants, a library, multiple stores, etc.

The rooms are air conditioned, and the new flooring looks good. But there's minimal bedside power outlets and the tiny TV looks to be 20 years old. I get that people come to the Sunshine Coast for nature, but sometimes before bed you want to relax with a show. The staff were pleasant.

As a whole, I'd give the property 3.5/5

Right on the water and great walkable location, but you will be overwhelmed at the incredible amount of bug and ant traps all around the room. The property is pretty dumpy with loose floor tiles and mold in the bathroom. Our room was missing the TV remote and after repeated requests from the desk person I was told to wait and wait while she completed her end of day paperwork, then was guilted as she said "It is 9:30, I was supposed to be off at 9:00 and my kids are home alone"... but why is that our responsibility? We paid for a room that was missing amenities, poor management and maintenance is to blame. We finally did get a replacement remote later that night.

Also, we went for a walk to the water the next morning, then returned to our room at 10:40am to pick up our bags (check out is 11:00) only to discover that our room keys were disabled, a quick stop by the office determined that the keys become useless after 10:30, because they want you gone. So yeah, I won't be headed back to the Driftwood anytime soon.

Checked in about 7:30 PM on October 18th (Monday), restaurant was closed so we went out for dinner, back around 9:30. The room was dated and tired, but not a big deal - just there for the night. Then went to go to bed and when we pulled back the covers on the first bed there were hairs in it, obviously had not been changed. Tried the next bed, and there was a candy wrapper in it. Great Covid-19 protocols. The office was closed for the night and it did not warrant an 'emergency' call, so we wiped the sheets with a towel. We've stayed in worse places, but thought that during a pandemic the cleaning would at least include changing the beds.

When we checked out in the morning the office was not open at 8:00 like the sign said it would be, nor at 8:10. By 8:15 we were running late for our meeting so just checked out in a hurry. My partner later called the office and was told they would look into it and I later sent an email, the next day but there was no response to either. A simple apology would have been nice and that would be the end of it, but if our comments did not raise concerns with management about their cleaning staff then a review is needed to let others know.

Very disappointed, but there are other places on the Sunshine Coast for our next time through.

The location was excellent and the bed was comfy, however he hotel could definitely use some more cleaning. We checked in and due to covid we brought our own cleaning supplies to clean our suite just for our own peace of mind. I'm sure glad we did. The counter tops/surfaces were BROWN. We used the clean white towels for our wiping and were absolutely disgusted. It was as if a smoker was in the room, even though it was non-smoking. The floor had NOT been swept at ALL. We chose to keep our shoes on the entire time as barefoot walking was not possible. The cost was not worth the value of the hotel. Would not stay again.

Worst place ever. Dirty, shabby, old, not well maintained or fixed up, uncomfortable beds, not easily accessible, just horrid and walls so dirty. I was embarrassed to think BC would offer such a horrible place to travellers. Even the staff was apologetic and not like described and photos inaccurate.

The location is as good as it gets. Right on the beach, with a lovely area for walks. Also, close to the centre of town.
The rooms are worn and dirty. The fridge very noisy. Walls thin enough to listen to the neighbours talking. The room had a strong odour of many previous guests. On the plus side the rate was very reasonable at $109. per night. The new lady at the front desk was courteous.

Filthy rooms. Our dog kept sniffing under the bed. When we pulled it out, we found a a pile of broken cookies. There was black mold on the window sill and the shower curtain. There was dust and spider webs on the ceilings and base boards. Electrical sockets were missing covers. We get that it was an older motel but that doesn't mean it can't be cleaned. Being close to the beach did not make up for the grimy room.

Comfortable bed and we had a wonderful ocean view but the facility is in poor shape and way overpriced. I paid only $25 more to stay at the Westin in Whistler with a full suite. My heart sank when I pulled up to the place but the room was better than the nasty carpeted stairs and peeling siding
