Stayed in Suit1 which is part of the main building. All night long occupants in another part of the building(suit 3 or 4?) were loud talking and heavy walking...which could be heard in the bed I was in. And then the final straw was a very loud session in bed buy those occupants at 5a that may as well have been in my room.
The hotel location is amazing and the room itself was very nice and clean and pleasant...so if I had earplugs...it would have been great

First the bad. The three of us had just finished the West Coast Trail and wanted a place for the night to clean up, dry our stuff and restock before continuing with the Juan da Fuca Trail. This was the first place we tried and we felt that we were an inconvience to the owners. Yes we looked dirty and tired but we'd just walked 76 km through mud. This is called the West Coast Trailhead Resort so they must be used to hikers. I notice from other reviews that you should not expect a warm welcome. We had to pay $2.50 each for a towel. I would have expected this in the price as per other hotels, motels and suites. Also, don't expect soap or shampoo in the shared toilets although they did have foamy soap by the sink.
Now the good. The hiker huts are small but clean, and the new panelling makes them feel cosy. The hut has a double bed and a bunk bed, a bin and small baseboard heater, a bedside cabinet and hooks for clothing. The matresses were comfortable and the location quiet. The shared two toilets with showers were clean when we got there, but dirty after we had used them so expect to be sharing with others. The water pressure was good and the water hot. The accomodation was perfect for our needs and the price of $94 per night, for the three of us, was good value. Location was good with the Coastal cafe right opposite (closes 9pm, closed Thursdays and often during the winter). The pub (on the pier) sold good beer and we had a great breakfast there the next morning. Overall, average due to the cold reception and I'd try another place next time we're in Port Renfrew.

Rat scat, beds were not made, no heat on, floor is a tripping hazard and electrical needs to be looked at. Never will I stay there again. $154 to stay in a crack shack. Hiker Hilton needs to be renamed as the Hurt'n Hazard Hut. The single worst place ever. I wouldn't pay $5 to sleep here again. Did I mention rats?!

I phoned to book a cabin for 5 adults a couple of weeks before arrival. After inquiring about the possibilities I was told that there was a new cabin available, the Hiker Hilton, which would suit our needs.
Connie phoned 6 days before occupation date and left a message for me to call back about the reservation. When I returned her call the next day she said not to worry, everything was fine.

On arrival in Port Renfrew on the reservation date I greeted Connie in the office and said we had a reservation for the Hiker Hilton. Connie said 'No you don't'. I said we had made a reservation and it had been confirmed by her. Connie shuffled back through a book and confirmed that yes I did have reservations, and indeed she had called me about the reservation, but that she had given the room away to other customers earlier that day. I was pretty stunned by this news and further surprised when she said they were fully booked.

She asked if I would like her to find another place for us. She did manage to find a place for us to stay. It was more expensive, but Connie did not offer to cover the difference.

I was surprised by Connie's cavalier attitude, her lack of concern about the impact this oversight had on our group and her not covering the extra cost incurred because of her mistake.
I wouldn't recommend booking with this resort.

We stayed September 22, and 23, 2015. We were on a trip with our 2 & 5 year old sons and au pair. We decided to splurge on the cabins for comfort and were very disappointed with the experience. We found the floor to be very dirty on first arrival, I swept a fair amount of sand and dirt off the floor. We discovered a dirty bandaid on the carpet and used Qtip just outside the door. We found a dirty dish with crumbs in it on a sofa side table. I found a fire alarm disconnected and on the kitchen counter. Utensil drawers were full of food crumbs. The coffee maker spewed coffee grounds and the pot wasn't the right size. The wifi was also patchy. I pointed out the most concerning of these things to the receptionist who was full of excuses and unaccommodating. I mentioned that the dirty bandaid was over the top when you have 2 & 5 year olds and her statement was 'well, we don't normally get two and five year olds'. I asked her about the fire alarm and showed it to her and she said 'well did you try to plug it in?' Our au pair was scared to use the hot tub because of the lack of cleanliness in the cabin and so were we. Worst place we've ever stayed, completely unacceptable for $300/night.

We recently spent one night at one of the Cabins at the Trailhead Resort and had a great stay. The cabin itself was really nice, modern and spacious and was set in a really beautiful area, just a few minutes from the sea and near all the local conveniences.

The only thing I would say against this place was the quality of service which was provided. When we came to her with a couple of queries she made us feel a little like we were an inconvenience to her. She seemed to give us short answers and didn't follow up on a couple of issues which we raised with her.

In spite of this, it's a great place to stay and I would recommend it to others who are looking for quality accommodation at a reasonable price.

I booked two of these huts for myself, wife and two children. The huts are a great value option for hikers either setting off for the West Coast Trail or Juan de Fuca Trail but could be easily improved. Our first impression was the smell of the wood used in construction (OSB) in cabin #3 which was overpoweringly unpleasant, therefore the kids stayed here! The huts have been painted yellow on the inside. Everywhere. I couldn't help but note that simple improvements could have greatly enhanced our stay: garbage can, more hooks on walls, artwork, blinds or drapes for window, shelf for upper bed, small chair etc. It seems the huts were constructed without thinking of function other than sleeping. The bathrooms/showers are fine but some soap and paper towels for the sinks would be more sanitary. Trailhead doesn't email confirmations and the rate structure changed between the time I booked and stayed and I therefore paid an extra $25 more than I had confirmed on the phone - oh well. FYI - towels are $20 rental per night and access to hot tub is not included when staying in huts. If Trailhead were to give these huts a little attention I would recommend this product to any hiker looking for some SIMPLE comfort prior to or following their hike!

We have recently repaneled the huts inside with cedar tongue and groove and have included garbage cans, night tables, extra clothes hooks, reading lights and a chair inside as well as two chairs on the porch. Bathrooms have been upgraded with mirrors, paper towels and soap dispensers. We thank you for your input and continue to try to improve our resort within our budget through input from customers such as yourself.

We booked a family suite through booking.com at the Trailhead Resort for 1 night prior to a 7 day hike. Upon arrival, Connie (I believe the owner) stated that there was an “error” with our reservation and there were other guests in the family suites, so we were going to be placed in what they call the “Hiker Hilton”. There are no words strong enough to describe this hovel. It appears it may have once been a storage shed (?), complete with cracked ceiling, the most filthy set of chairs by a flimsy table, dirty fridge, for some ridiculous reason a queen sized mattress dangling off a twin sized bunk bed frame, and if this isn’t ghetto enough, a vice grip secured to the plumbing to operate the shower was the cherry on top. We returned to see Connie. She again tried to tell me the family suites were occupied, until a family entered the lobby and stated they were there to check in to their family suites. Timing is everything. We demanded we receive the room we booked and paid for weeks ago. In her true unprofessional nature, she rolled her eyes towards the other guests and asked them if they wanted the Hiker Hilton, when they asked if it was nicer, she replied “you get your own cabin”. We saw this family later on at the Port Renfrew Pub, they looked deflated. I can understand why. The family suite we did finally get was mediocre at best. I could not recommend anyone consider staying at this hotel. The hotel itself is substandard, the management and attitude pathetic and there are other places to stay in Port Renfrew. Reading other reviews it appears they also have an issue with honesty when it comes to their guests who use this lodge for fishing trips as well. Steer clear.

I organized a kayaking trip for my boyfriends birthday for an 8:30 appointment 2 weeks in advance. We traveled 2-1/2 hours to get there for 8:00am. When we arrived, we rang the intercom and there was no response. After a lot of confusion and 15 minutes later we rang again and someone responded. We explained the reservations and they said they did not have anything booked. They proceeded to finally come to the door and explain that the tour guide had family issue quite a few days prior to the day we arrived and there was no such thing as kayaking on Sunday. We were told to go to a near by beach for our new entertainment and basically were kicked off the step with nothing but some gas spent and time wasted.
