We were so pleased to return to Camp Valhalla after waiting for travel restrictions to be lifted. The camp owners and onsite staff were very gracious and accommodating to our 60+ family members and we were so happy the sun stuck around for our time in this beautiful location. We enjoyed the sandy beaches, swimming dock, kayak rentals, ice cream cones, campsite merchandise, bike trails, dish washing station, and beautiful bathrooms! Staff keeps everything clean and well-maintained. The location is close to natural hot springs as well as the Nakusp Hot Springs. There is no cell service at the campground but WIFI works well.

What an amazing experience we had at Camp Valhalla. This is NOT your average campground. Yes, it has all the things you would expect, but the owners have really raised the bar here. First off, the bathrooms!! Not an undesireable sight or smell to be found! There is a great deal of care going in to making sure that the camp bathroom experiece is an elevated one, and it is much appreicated! The landscaping around the property and key areas like the beach front have also been very well thought out. There are sprawling logs arranged around the camp for sitting on and enjoying the view. If you have kids, there is an amazing play-ground with a free-form feel for climbing, crawling and jumping. The campground signage is colourful and playful and sets the tone for a great time! Total success!! We do hope to come back again sooner than later! xox

We had the honour of spending a few nights at Camp Valhalla and it truly felt like an epic summer camp for kids and adults. The lake is very zen, the dock a blast and the kids did not have a chance to be bored with the epic playground and fishing dock. A big bonus to us was the beautiful fresh white sand at both the main beach and dog beach. We highly recommend camping here, the hosts Becky and Corey are so welcoming. We will be back. ❤️ The Elfords

Camp Valhalla is the best campground we have ever visited. The new owners have put lots work into the place, and it shows. The reservation process was easy and the check in process was great. The campground has tons of amenities (laundry, washroom, showers, pump track, beaches, playground, dock, boat rentals) and everything is very well maintained. The sites are clean and the staff is incredibly helpful. We have come to this camp 4 years in a row and always look forward to our week.

We have camped here for many years and love the beautiful location, lots to see and do and family to visit. Our credit card was charged $330 for the 6 night reservation when we booked the site on Feb 8 2023, but when we received the online checkin notice the day before our reservation on Aug 13 2023, the site number had been changed. We did not receive any prior notifice and it was too late to cancel and receive a refund. They blamed the online computer reservation system, but it was very poor service not to have any human oversight and not to notify a guest of such a big change. We had not paid the reservation fee of $20 and have never paid a reservation fee for any camping previously; we have also never been charged in advance for any camping reservation. This experience has certainly soured me on this campground.

Response from Camp Valhalla, Owner at Camp Valhalla
Responded Aug 30, 2023
Hello Alice, Sorry to hear again that you are not happy. As I have explained to you, and as outlined clearly when you book online, if you don't pay the locking fee upon booking, then your site is subject to change which means you might be moved to a similar site type with all the same services and hook ups, for the exact same dates. This is very clearly outlined in the booking process. You mentioned in an email to me that you understood this and chose not to pay the locking fee anyway. As explained, this locking fee is somewhat of a camping industry standard, and is widely used through the booking software campspot which we use. This booking software has been in place at our campground for 3 years now and works wonderfully. Many campers chose to pay the fee as they often camp beside friends, or have a particular site number that they love. Some don't pay, as they are ok with being moved to another site with all the same services and amenities. You stated that there is no human oversight, but that is false, the human oversight is the choice to pay the fee or not. You were also notified of this change before check in via email. If you would like further explanation please feel free to send me and email with your phone number and I'd be happy to give you a call. All the best, Becky

Great friendly "lady" host, nicely laid out sites. Campsites are bit tight, no privacy between sites.
Previous owners were super amazing before this guy took over, now the new owner is miserable.
Thinks he owns the "highway". Kids (adult present too) had the "stick fireworks" and stopped on the highway (which is owned by Ministry of Transportation) & they shot them off into the lake from the road, (not on campsite/grounds of the park) how much more responsible can you get.....the creeper dude waited in his quad till they came back along the road to say they couldn't do that ? huh,.... Said he also needs a waiver signed for my friends car that's parked who was leaving before gates closed because they shot off fireworks from the highway & he thinks hes responsible for what happens on the highway ? waiver for what, its not illegal to park on the highway.... wacko he is, seems like a power tripping dude.

Will not be coming back for sure, camped the remainder of vacation at Summit Lake Provincial Park where the host was super friendly, courteous, helpful.

The camp site is set by a beautiful lake and surrounded by mountains. The Valhalla beach and amenities are second to none. Staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating.

Make sure the kids bring a fishing rod and a net to catch and release fish and tadpoles.

I have visited hundreds of campgrounds in my lifetime, and Camp Valhalla is honestly one of the best that I have ever stayed at. The bathrooms!!!! Immaculately clean, fresh flowers, soap and even paper towels. It is the little details that make the biggest difference. Becky is a fantastic host - welcoming, accommodating, and really made us feel that we could reach out at any time if we needed something. A beautiful lake with the Slocan Rail Trail a 5 minute walk away. Paradise. I also love that there's a bear friendly compost bin!

I just love Camp Valhalla! Seems pretty laid back. Summit lake is gorgeous, and there is a trail that wraps around the lake to walk or bike on that used to be an old rail bed so it's flat and easy. The kids just love being able to canoe or kayak with the lake right there, and the little islands host all sorts of birds and ducks. Really enjoyed our stay, and found the staff super helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Just a short drive to Nakusp for hut burgers and chocolate shakes! Highly recommend for a fun family vacay.

We just had the most wonderful stay at Camp Valhalla. This is our second year staying here and we hope to come back every year. The campground is very well organized with the most friendly staff. The bathrooms are always clean with wonderful touches like fresh flowers. The access to summit lake as well as the playground and pump track kept our kids busy all week. We enjoyed awesome local mountain biking and hiking as well as amenities in Nakusp. We can’t wait to come back to Camp Valhalla soon!
