Just arrived home after an amazing seven nights at Oia Mare Villas what can I say but thank you to all the staff the jolly chef his assistant the cleaners the man who carried our luggage down loads of steps without batting an eyelid I struggled getting myself down so how he did it I will never know to Maria who we loved having a chat with and last but not least the reception staff they were superb. Nicholetta was just so special she greeted us so warm and friendly after breakfast on our first day everything we needed to know about the villas the complex the area were explained to us in detail by her. Our Villa and terrace were beautiful very big and spacious also spotlessly clean breakfast was buffet style there was always plenty of choice and you could go back as many times as you liked, the pool bar menu was varied both drinks and food wise there was nothing at all that I could fault with the complex. There is a lot of steps and we knew this when we booked but I am chunky and have asthma and I managed them all I can say is take your time and rest where you can they are well worth the effort. Once again thank you especially to Nicholetta for making my retirement holiday one very special event so special that I cried when we had to leave hope one day that we may be back.

Oia mate villas is set perfectly in the heart of Oia village. We was lucky to have book the superior studio sea view room and our small balcony has perfect views of the caldera, the old port, old castle and most importantly the amazing sunset each and every night. Honestly the view is breath taking and you will not be disappointed! The breakfast was nice although due to Covid you have to be served from the buffet which does make it slightly awkward and you feel like you can’t just fill your plate like you normally would and leave what you don’t like. The room was lovely nice shower and everything you need except for one small gripe and that’s that it only had one small mirror in the bathroom and could do with a full length one in the main room. The bed was massive and really comfortable. Oia mare is highly recommended by us! Our trip has been amazing! A few things to note, there are a lot of stairs I mean a lot if you are unfit or have bad legs maybe santorini is not the place for you. At the bottom of the caldera from the hotel is a port and if you go down and walk though the restaurants and around the rock you come to and small open area that you can go swimming In the sea and if you are feeling brave you can jump off the small island in to the sea. Beware when you go down you have to walk up unless you want to use the poor donkeys that is! We walked from Oia to Thira it took us 3 hrs and we have a few breaks between, the views on the way are wonderful and we really recommend this. Just to add a few prices, the restaurants overlooking the caldera/volcano charge €9 for a pint and €18 for a cocktail this maybe normal for some but the we found it a little much and a few times we juts used the mini markets and stock our room fridge with drinks and beer at €2.50 each. Meals are pretty much the same as you would expect in the UK. All in all this was an amazing mini holiday and we had an amazing time. I hope this reviews is helpful.

The photos of the resort are very representative of the hotel so much that we felt that we had already been there upon arrival. Also, they accommodated our request for a specific room - there were two to choose from, which was much appreciated. Similarly, breakfast was delicious and homemade. In many ways it felt like were houseguests by the lovely staff.

The views from the hotel and the sunset deck were lovely.

We were not properly prepared for a few items, despite having friends who stayed here.

First, arrival was stressful and hectic. We were dumped at a post office with no hotel in sight. I couldn’t get a clear explanation from our driver about where we were. Then 2 strange men appeared and started grabbing luggage but did not answer my question about where we were or acknowledge me in any way. There were 7 people in our shuttle and only 2 men so we had to carry our own luggage (which was fine since nobody explained to us what was happening anyway but help would have been appreciated if we received a proper introduction). The hotel was a harrowing 10 minute hike from our drop off point down some treacherous and crowded stairs.

Also missing were some comforts. Our beds were as hard as rocks. We had no tissues or wash cloths. We didn’t even get hand towels. They give you one single bottle of water per person per stay. If you need safe, affordable daily drinking water you must venture out to the grocery store (30 minutes through crowds and stairs) or pay exorbitant rates at the hotel. Finally, breakfast started at 8:30 which was mutually exclusive with avoiding crowds for an early start. Finally, this is not the hotel for you if you are not fit. We were exhausted of stairs at the end of the stay and there was no way to avoid them. Since there is no restaurant you must traverse them at least once per day to eat.

Drop off was similarly chaotic. The porters arrived 20 minutes late. Then the shuttle was an additional 20 minutes late. We were stressed about missing our flight.

Thank you for your comments in your review . We are glad to know that you enjoyed your stay overall and we certainly apologise if you felt stressed , regarding your transfer and the service by our porters . Please note that we always make sure that noone misses his flight or ship , just like you did not .Due to the fact that the porters do not speak English , they were not able to explain you whatever you needed to know .They were there to carry your luggage, just like they did . As we mention in other reviews , stairs are a given for all hotels located on the caldera cliff in Santorini . Nobody can avoid them . You can stay at hotels located on the caldera cliff , even if you are not fit , but when you take your time to walk the stairs .Finally , we would like to apologise again for making you feeling stressed regarding your transfer , because our goal is to make everyone relax during their stay with us , taking care of everything they might need .In any case , thank you for staying with us and we hope to welcome you back in the future .

We arrived to Santorini via ferry and were greeted at the port by the hotel's driver who helped us with our bags and had us in our way in no time. The driver was very friendly and told us a bit about the island and some of the towns we drove through.

When we finally arrived in Oia, things started to get a bit strange. The hotel's porters had not yet arrived at the pickup spot so our driver waited with us until one of the porters arrived. The porter picked up our luggage and literally started running down the path without saying a word to us. We looked at the driver confused and he told us to follow him. Not used to the heat and uneven walkways we struggled to keep the porter in sight as we ran after him. Not a very welcoming first experience in Oia but we managed to keep sight of the porter and follow him to the hotel.

Once at the hotel, we had a much warmer welcome by the reception staff, who got us checked in, gave us some info about activities and restaurants and shows us to our room.

The photos of the room and view really do not do this place justice. Whitewashes walls and sun drenched balconies overlooking Amoudi Bay and the caldera. It's unlike anything I have seen before and something out of a dream!

The hotel itself is pretty much right in the middle of Oia. It's a short (but not always quick due to crowds) walk to many of the best restaurants and shopping. The hotel is so picturesque that many people walking the path down to the bay would actually stop and take photos of the hotel and surrounding buildings that did the hillside. Unfortunately, the area is so picturesque that it draws huge crowds of people, especially at sunset. We knew it would be busy, but we were not prepared for how busy it was. The walking paths that go to and from the hotel would get so dense with people lining up for photos that you literally had to push through to get where you were going. We almost missed a dinner reservation because the paths were so congested with foot traffic one evening. That said. The hotel itself is a good respite away from the crowded public areas.

While the reception staff, and the staff at the pool and restaurant were all fantastic, our experiences with some of the other staff were not great. When leaving the room in the morning we would often pass cleaning staff and other staff from the hotel and we would smile, or say good morning only to be met with silence at best and at worst a glare. At one point during our stay, we paid to have some laundry done and we were sitting out in our patio when the clean laundry was delivered. The lady who brought it over seemed annoyed and inconvenienced. I offered a tip and said thank you and she just frowned and walked away. Now I know that there is a language barrier, but a smile and a nod can go a long way. I was surprised by the lack of courtesy that some of the staff members had toward guests, especially given the hotel's high price point.

Overall, we did enjoy our stay but i don't think we would return due to the rude staff (again, this does not apply to reception and staff at the pool) and the crowds in Oia. After we left Oia Mare Villas we went to a different hotel in Imerovigli and found that to be more our style.

Dear Guest , We are sorry to hear that you found members of our staff to be rude towards you .Please let us inform you that under no circumsantances the members of our staff are being rude to anybody .Maybe on the day that you tried to contact them , they were too busy and they were thinking of their work and missed to reply back to you . As you also mention , the language is a barrier for them to communicate freely with the guests , as the driver and the reception staff did with you on the other side .Before you characterize or describe that someone was being rude to you without even talking to you , we kindly suggest that you think twice before you do that , because your criteria for doing that are not high.It is nice to hear that you found the other hotel in Imerovigli more to your liking , as we understand that one might likes something better than something else that suites him better .

Good location but very unhygienic hot tub which had clearly not been cleaned properly - would not book a room with a hot tub!

Beware before booking - ok for a day or so but wouldn’t book for a proper holiday as breakfast was very poor (even basic items like fried eggs and bread were stale and had been sitting in a tray for too long, you have to pay extra for cappuccino too). Better to spend some more money elsewhere.

No doubt management will leave an immature and aggressive response below - ignore this as many other guests have experienced similar issues!

Dear Will , it is so nice of you for trying to warn other people for our poor services .We are sure that other people will also read our hundreds of other top score reviews that other people have written, besides yours , and they will make the right decision by ignoring your immature, revengeful and aggressive comments .As we have replied to your emails and other reviews you have written , we will reply the same thing to this review too .Your Hot Tub was cleaned every day , just like your room .It is not possible that your room was clean and your hot tub was not . If you want your review to be honest and sincere ,as you mention in another review , you should also mention why you are writting bad reviews about us .We would like to inform everyone reading this review , that this guest and his partner did not like the hotel or their room they booked and they were trying to find a reason to leave the hotel and take some of their money back . We have his emails to prove that .They could not find any other reason than the hot tub and breakfast , which are an easy target .We declined their request ,because we think that they put all the dirt and hair in the hot tub in order they take some money back , and of course their reply was to write bad reviews wherever they could and defame the hotel .We are really sorry to have had guests as them , when we try so much to fulfil everyone's request , as other reviews mention .We would also like to inform everyone reading this review, that the rooms and the hot tubs are cleaned daily . We respect someone's oppinion not liking the breakfast we serve , but please note that there is a large variety of food served for breakfast, hot and cold plates , fruits , cereals, etc .which makes it difficult for someone not to like everything we serve .Regarding the comment about the extra charge for the cappuccino , there is no hotel in the world that does not charge the coffee other than the filter coffee for breakfast .This review is not an honest review but a revenge review .

Our stay at Oia Mare Villas was really enjoyable. It’s affordable compared to other hotels on Santorini and a great value!

The rooms are quiet and relaxing, with really good air conditioning and strong wifi - we never had an issue with it. The breakfast was simple but good! The staff does not serve you, it’s a buffet and you seat yourself.

The pool area is small but never felt crowded, there always seemed to be room for everyone. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, but the kitchen does offer a small menu that includes sandwiches, pizza, salad, snacks and drinks.

Yes it’s true there are many stairs to climb when you come and go from the hotel, but that will be your experience everywhere in Oia.

The hotel is in a great location to watch the sunset and is right above the Ammoudi Bay, where you can see many beautiful boats coming and going. It’s a short walk to the post office and bus station, both of the transportation hubs where you’ll likely get picked up for private tour transfers or to take the bus to another village in Santorini.

Lovely stay at Oia Mare Villas!

My husband & I stayed at Oia Mare for a week in early September and we were absolutely blown away by it! The location is out of this world and even on our 7th night the view still took our breath away, it feels really private and relaxed but luxurious at the same time. It was our second trip to Santorini we just love it & I cannot recommend Oia Mare more. The staff were so lovely & upgraded us on our 5th night too which was super. The rooms are understated luxury built into a dramatic cliff. They were bigger than I expected especially our second room which was really impressive. Be prepared for lots of steps (we actually loved the little daily hike as we felt we earned our wine and dinner) but leave the heels at home and wear comfortable footwear. It’s a very special place & im so glad we discovered it & will 100% be visiting again. Also I know this is luck but everyone staying at the hotel were so lovely too! Very Covid safe too as all outdoors and lots of room for social distancing.

Thank you for the most memorable stay, 11/10 if possible!!

We just returned from a week in Oia Mare Villas and had a wonderful stay. When we had our BA flights cancelled twice they were very accommodating in adjusting our booking. We had originally planned to travel May 2020 and were given a voucher to travel before the end of 2021 and I'm so pleased we were able to go now as they are completely sold out in July and August.

The hotel is located just off of the main thoroughfare for people to watch the views of the sunsets which also meant when we arrived it was a good 10 minute walk from the taxi to the hotel as most of the streets are pedestrianised. A porter was there to meet us and carried our bags to the room. The hotel is located right in the middle of the steep cliff face overlooking the volcano and sunset which can take a bit of getting used to going up and down quite dangerous, uneven steps without hand rails. We are young and didn't mind the exercise but I can imagine it would be very tough for older or unfit people.

The room was immaculate, with great air conditioning. We had upgraded to a honeymoon suite which also included a second bathroom as well as a hot tub/jacuzzi. The room had a decent sized fridge which was very handy to keep drinks cold. They also included robes, slippers as well as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion. Outside we had a table and chairs as well as deck chairs and an umbrella.

Mary was very helpful and friendly, giving us help with recommendations, reservations and directions throughout our stay. The serving staff were very helpful and hard working too, giving us a few different options for breakfast each morning and a small pool bar lunch menu. A handmade pizza for lunch took a while but was delicious.

Not every room has a direct view of the sunset but the hotel offers a viewing platform for guests to use and watch the sunset, away from the masses of crowds that gather nearby which we really appreciated.

Overall a stunning place to visit and stay, if a little expensive but things as they are we didn't mind spending a little more to really enjoy ourselves.

The property location is fabulous and well maintained
The staff were attentive and very helpful especially Katherine readily available to make recommendations and assist with reservations.
Breakfast was decent although wished
There was from fresh fruit.
My only complaint is I had an 11 am flight out of JTR and I asked to leave my room at 8:30 so we could grab a quick breakfast since the airport was close we were flying domestically.
Was told had to leave at 8am they provided us the night before with toast crackers with jelly and butter which was not something we wanted to eat. After be before forced out at 8 to be picked up at 830 we winding up waiting until 850 for the driver to arrive we could of easily took our time grabbed a real breakfast and walked up for our transfer it was disappointing to be rushed out to wait.. would recommend despite being disappointed.

It depends on the time of year. However, there are gorgeous spots at the hotel for watching even if not from your room, itself. I was there in July and watched from the common deck with other guests while sipping wine. If you really want a view from your room, ask the hotel when you know the dates of your stay. This is a fantastic little hotel in a great location. Don’t miss it!
