Detailed Reviews
I travel all over AB and BC because of the field I work in , but never had such a bad experience with any hotel. The night guy was somewhat good as he upgraded our room but the morning receptionist was not at all friendly neither seemed to have any professional etiquette. I requested her to have a late check-out( extra 2 or 1hour) referring to my membership perks and also as we checked in at 2 am in the midnight and haven't slept , since we had a morning job for which I came to BC.But she righh away denied saying that she cañ only give 30 more extra minutes. Her words were like " even if you are gold or diamond" it does not matter it's Friday and we are super busy" . I mean then whats the purpose of being a member. Also they have the check in time at 4:00 pm.While she was like " it takes a long time for the room service person" to clean one room , I mean does it really take 4 hours to clean ? Would never recommend this hotel and will never come back again .

The room I was in was pretty decent for what I was expecting. Probally a bit better than I expected, the beds were comfortable but the bedding was of poor quality. There was some damage around the main windows and so there was a draft comming in wich resulted in a cold room inless the heat was on high. Heat thermostat did not work in room and so the rooms heat seemed to kind of go on and off. TV was good for the room with cable and internet was stable/fast enough for my phone use and bussiness on my computer.

Really bad service. Smelled like a skunk died in the hotel. Smelly room and bathroom, the bathroom had yellow stains all over. Absolutely disgusting. The bed sheets had cigarette stains all over the sheets. If you want to torture yourself then go there. Pictures that are on the website is literal catfish. Staff at the front desk were absolutely rude.

This hotel was hands down the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! Was kept awake at night by people fighting & screaming in the hallways at all hours. No better than a crack house. Bare bones and in a very sketchy area, was grateful my car was still in the parking lot & in-tact in the morning. Never so happy to check out of hotel... ever! Not worthy of any stars (but I had to choose one to post the review), would NEVER stay here again even if you paid me!

Zero stars. I am at a loss for words, this place is a fu***ng trash heap, I would have rather slept in the car. The staff is rude. I specifically asked if the pet deposit was a DEPOSIT, and was returned, and told it was, to not be refunded in the morning. Close this hellscape immediately.

Drove in from calgary and found this place, at 930 I booked a room and at midnight I was out, a waste of money, drug addicts and needles all over the place outside, in side my room 201 I found crack pipes, ashes on bed with shards of glass, little bit of crack on nigh table, dope bags under the side of bed. What a joke and shady place, I went to front sdesk and tried to get refund but no one would open the door service sucks, went to another hotel and went back to talk to manager Hamid typical slum said no refunds, I showed him the room and he says itwas clean

Response from Ali B, Manager at Travelodge by Wyndham Surrey
Responded Nov 19, 2014
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Our protocol for preparing suites are they be cleaned by housekeeping staff, and then reviewed by a manager before being rented out As a manager, I personally review rooms and sign off a detailed checklist before they are designated as "ready for guests " - this is the same procedure as occurred on this evening in question. If a guest is not satisfied with a suite we are more than happy to relocate him/her to an alternative room as long it is within a reasonable time frame of checking in. In this case, the guest brought it to our attention and asked for a full refund the following day after claiming to have slept elsewhere. In fact, our front desk is staffed to 11:00 pm each night (the writer claims to have left the room at 12:00 pm midnight) after which an auditor answers a buzzer outside the front hotel door from 11:01 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. This would have provided ample opportunity to contact us if there was an issue with the room. I can honestly say that we have never received a review like this since we began running this hotel in November 2013. Our business relies on the referrals we get from satisfied guests and we would never put our reputation at risk. We ask you to please take into consideration our other reviews when evaluating this hotel.

Dirty, extremely unsecured.. using residential door lock keys that can be copied as many times as a person would want. broken windows, dirty carpet, no supplies in kitchenette units. Bed bugs (2 bites on one leg in one night). loud hallways. drug users. random late night phone calls from angry strange men.
I could go on for ever. Read your sign in sheet.. fully !

Stayed one night en-route self-driving to Vancouver airport, as nothing available in Richmond, and this place is reasonably convenient. It is within one km. of major shopping areas, and wide range of restaurants, so thought it would be O.K for an overnight stay. Check in was efficient, and the receptionist very pleasant and helpful.
The only good thing about the hotel was the plentiful supply of hot water.
Our room was the worst we have ever stayed in. Damaged switch plates on electric outlets, the baseboard electric heater had no cover plates - dangerous if needed? - walls and trim were damaged, seemed like attempts to cover up damage by fill, paper stuck on and painted over. Carpet damaged and dirty. Bathroom arborite vanity top had burn hole and bubbling . The window blind broken and didn't fully cover the window. Bathtub badly stained, and was not properly caulked at the wall, leaving filthy and damaged joint. Towel rail seemed to have been recently replaced, yet old holes, damage areas not filled in . The "fire safety regulations" on back of the door were almost illegible and for Happy Holiday Inn - presumably the name of this place many years ago.
Our son and his family's room was just a little better condition, but they had people upstairs who seemed to be awake all night, and extremely noisy.
We, and our son, have travelled extensively in the U.S., S.E. Asia, Europe, Mexico and Central America. Even in some of the most remote areas where there was minimal oversight of tourist accommodation, nothing was as bad as Surrey Central Inn. The place is a disgrace and should not be allowed to operate as a hotel.

I booked this hotel for some friends as there was no other place available during this weekend. I would simply say this is the worse place I have ever seen in my life. Stay in your car is better than this dirty druggy place. I am going to submit official complain to business bureau BC. Please don't book in this hotel. It's dangerous, scary, unclean, unhealthy. If you can't find a place stay in your car.

As soon as we drove up to the property I got a sinking feeling in my stomach. We tried to make the best of a grimy situation. Front door was locked and no one in sight. Walked up 3 flights of stairs and asked housekeeping who said he should be around somewhere and kept working. It's in a decent area but the rundown hotel attracted a lot of sketchy guests/transients. Room was really big but scarcely furnished. Looks like they picked up the stuff that others throw in alleys. The full kitchenette consisted of fridge, M/W & hot plate. Not a cup or utensil to be found. The so-called non smoking room had cigarette burns throughout including pillow/cases, sheets, couch (which also had a huge tear). The bathroom was the absolute worst. The sink/tub/toilet had not been cleaned in a long while. The housekeeping lady looked dumbfounded when she was asked to clean it, it looked up to scratch to her. Toilet had dried on urine/excrement and tub had hair and what looked like blood Single use of toilet paper left on roll. Was given a full roll within an hour.
After inquiring was told that we had to ask for utensils/kitchen items. These are not left in the rooms due to high theft. Even pillow cases and TV remotes were stolen, we actually had them. I was given a few items one at a time and a single squirt of dish detergent but eventually given a mini Dollarstore bottle Door had to be body checked closed. Blinds, curtains, sliding door were all in disrepair or flat out broken. They painted the door exteriors while cobwebs and a garden variety of mystery substances remained unattended to. Lovely views of nothing. Either the parking lot with oddballs milling around or an overgrown lot. You hear talking, furniture moving and vehicular traffic all day and night. Bathroom window doesn't close. The employees seemed to be trying but this place is in dire need of upkeep starting with a ceiling to floor bleach shower. It's a struggle to carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs but stay away from the ground level which is buzzing with vagrants and questionable activity. Wiped down everything that we reluctantly touched. A complimentary bottle of Hibiclens should be mandatory. Would never stay here again even for free.
