You know, its just that I have a certain expectation when I book with Hilton. When we rolled up on this place, there was some guy out front with tools and a couple buddies standing by for support laying under his power yellow corvette working on it. Really? Then, as our gazes turned to the building we were about to enter, we agreed it was sort of shabby looking. Once into the lobby, we could see it was clean, but just stodgy and outdated with 80s artwork around. That being said, you could tell that back then during her heyday this must have been a really nice place. The desk staff working here are very polite and check in was efficient. The room was again, sort of stodgy. The desk lamp turn on switch on the lamp was broken and the floor lamp lightbulb was out. But....on a positive note, the room was very clean and the beds provided a comfortable night's sleep. The shower had really good water pressure so that is always appreciated. In the morning we went down to the restaurant for breakfast. The waitress was lovely, the breakfast area was a nice place to sit. The coffee was ok. But the food was terrible. We ordered eggs benedict. It was a stale not toasted english muffin, really tough canadian bacon with burn marks that smelled (dare I say it) like a horse, the poached egg was cooked well, but room temperature and there was about a tablespoon of gross fake hollandaise on top. This came with room temperature deep fried potatoes with onions that were edible and some cute garnishes on the plate. I'd suggest if you do go for breakfast here.....stay simple my friend. Personally, I'd go somewhere else. We were out late the night before, so we inquired at the desk about whether we could leave at 12 rather than 11. They were very nice and very accomodating and our wish was granted. Everything considered, I'd say if you're staying here because its convenient to whatever your reason for visiting the area is....go for it. Its a good place to rest. But don't choose this place for a special occasion or expect to be dazzled by the decor.

First, we've been staying at this property every time we visit NYC. It's a quick Uber ride to Manhattan and the property and employees always seem attentive and COVID prepared. No longer. We arrived on Dec 16 and was advised to use the app to get our room key. I explained that I did that, but the app is not working as far as room key availability, so they handed me two room keys. Never mentioned that I am a Diamond member, never gave us our comps, never offered the traditional cookies. The first night was fine. Breakfast the next day was very good and the server very attentive. We found that our mini fridge didn't work and asked the night desk person if they could resolve it for us. He said he would. However, he never did anything about it. As we left for the day, on day 2, I stopped at the front desk to see if they would do anything about it for us. They said the night crew never mentioned the issue, but that they would take care of it, and they did, by the time we got back that night. The second night we had a party in the room next to ours. Actually, a real party. A few adjoining rooms all had their doors open and people yelling, laughing, music, etc. I would not have said anything but it was 1130 and we had things to do the next day. I called the front desk, and they were not very responsive. I waited 30 minutes and called again, still nothing. So I got dressed and was heading to the elevator to go to the lobby, when the clerk that didn't help with the mini fridge exited the elevator. I asked if he was here for the noise complaint. I explained it again, and he said we have a protocol, they don't visit the room of the noise complaint, but as the caller(me) said the doors were open and anyone could see, hear, and smell the party(pot being smoked), he would just see if it was happening. I pointed and said follow the music. He then said well, you can change rooms. I said here's a counter offer, I booked this place 3 months ago, am a semi regular customer and I was in my room before you put the party people here, so if you want me to me, I will, to another hotel at your expense. He walked away without responding. I never heard anyone knock on their door and call their room, but it all stopped about 130AM. The next morning breakfast was buffet style with one employee on duty. Never got drinks with our breakfast, which was good, but not very COVID protected at all. They had signs at the door suggesting masks but no one was wearing masks, not even the employees. All in all, we decided never again.

We checked in late at night after moving and opening boxes.
Went to the room and keys didn’t work.
Went back downstairs
Receptionist was not there
Then told us that the room is not available any more(?!?!), then gave us a room on non-hhonors floor. 8th floor. The key didn’t work again. But the second card key worked.
I didn’t think it is a rocket science to get the keys work. Also, changing the room without a proper explanation and to a non-Hhonors floor was weird. We asked for some water the second time we were at the desk, he said there are bottled water in the room but he gave us a bottle of water each anyway. There was no water in the room.

Also, we asked for a quiet room because the hotel is facing a highway, but the room was still loud

I've stayed at this DoubleTree several times when driving to NYC for business. It is located just off the highway, several gas stations are close by, free parking (yes, free!), safe for solo travelers and easy for Uber pick up/drop off.
The dining room (breakfast and dinner) and bar have good selection and are very reasonably priced. If you don't want to drive in and out of the city and don't mind using Uber or Lyft, this is a great spot with easy freeway access for the business traveler.

Staff are very attentive and welcoming, incredibly helpful when needing recommendation for navigating the local area/city. Check in/out very easy.

Rooms could use a refresh, but comfortable nonetheless.

My group had adjoining rooms 821 and 823 and between the two rooms it’s very clear the standards of cleaning here are extremely low. The lady at check-in made a big deal to explain that housekeeping would not be entering our rooms during our two night stay for our health/safety and due to this the rooms were being very thoroughly cleaned prior to arrival. On top of her lengthy explanation, every mirror had a sticker talking about all the parts of the rooms that were thoroughly cleaned. It was blatant those are just for show based off the quality of our rooms.

Both mirrors had toothpaste/flossing/spit stains all over the mirror.

There was trash in the bottom drawer of the dresser.

Our bed sheets had blue stains all over them in places where there is no possible way this would be missed by whomever made the bed.

There was a disgusting used giant false eyelash laying in the middle of the bathroom floor.

The adjoining room’s pillows had what appeared to be blood stains on 3 of the 5 pillows.

All the counter surfaces were smeared with a film of some sort.

Our microwave had someone’s old leftovers that had been there so long there was mold on them.

This doesn’t even take into account the towels felt like washing/drying your body with sandpaper and the pillows were so bad that with 3 of them stacked on another your head laid almost flat on the bed.

What started out as one thing that housekeeping staff may have missed or dropped while cleaning quickly turned into “I don’t think anyone actually bothered to clean these rooms” by the end of our stay. For this level of disregard for sanitation during a pandemic, DoubleTree by Hilton should be ashamed

The pictures posted by the property are misrepresentation of the room conditions. The rooms are extremely outdated and in need of renovation. The furnitures are old and the overall layout and colors look like they are designed by granny in the 1970s. There are only two plug in lamps and small antique reading lamps by the bed side in the entire room. Worse of all, the lamps are dim and the reading lamp has a dark yellow hue to it. All vending machines are scattered throughout random floors that functions like it's from the 1970s or 1980s where it only accepts quarters, except for one that accepts credit cards and Apple Pay which is located on the Mezzanine. Fitness center is also not open at this time and from a glimpse of it from the outside, equipments look like they are about to form rust and the fitness center is in bad shape. There aren't any attractions nearby this property and require at least a ten minute drive from the highway located right next to the hotel and it's difficult to drive since there are always many cars.

Honestly, I’m not sure what is more concerning; the fact that this DoubleTree is just sad or the fact that I keep on booking DoubleTrees (particularly near the city).

First let me address this hotel specifically. Service appears fine, the lobby is magnificent (which made one think the rooms would also be wonderful) but that’s about it. They clearly gave more attention to their outer decor compared to the actual rooms inside.

In our room, the bathroom door is almost destroyed. The faucet on the sink is about to pop off and the shower curtain doesn’t cover the actual shower. The rooms appear to just be in disarray and in need of a makeover.

This might seem like not a lot but in comparison to the immaculate lobby it just seems so strange. Also it’s a doubletree so...what is going on here.

Lastly, my biggest issue is in general with the doubletree brand. I am continuously frustrated by the lack of consistency in their locations countrywide. Sometimes they’re wonderful and then other times they are just old and worn down. Lately, i have preferred the Tru and Home2 lines because they’re just vastly more consistent.

Hilton, I implore you to establish some consistency in your branding of the DoubleTree line. PLEASE

Friends, don’t waste your money on this particular hotel.

There are better ones out there.

This property is in much need of a deep cleaning and/or refurbishing. I travel for work frequently and truly appreciate how the pandemic has wreaked havoc on the hotel/hospitality industry. However, this property is far below Hilton standards for a Double Tree. On the plus side, the front desk staff were friendly and accomodating. The restaurant was surprisinging decent. On the not so great side., the room smelled strongly cigarette smoke and wallpaper peeling in many spots. The furniture and curtains in the room were dirty and stained. Carpet in room was in need of vacuuming. The hallway carpets were stained and worn with several large bare spots. I would say that current ratings are highly misleading.

Please be sure if you like a cold climate when sleeping this is not the place for you. Night staff was rude and offer me free breakfast to accommodate the room being 75 degrees. I told the lady respectfully NO. Room service never came in the room to make the beds or clean the entire 4 days I was there. No one instructed if you had to call for room service or not. The location is great because it was quiet- right by the highway. Service could have been better. The lady Saturday night said they didn’t have any rooms available but the night manager said to a few guest while I was there that they had suites available only. She never offered me that. She probably assumed I couldn’t pay for it cause I was black and young.

Its about 8 blocks south and 2 blocks east of the drop-off point (Hilton Hotel on 53rd & 6th). I think that is very walkable unless you are in a hurry or have some physical ailments. Check out Google Maps and you can see exactly. Otherwise you can use the subway, or maybe a cab or uber.

I believe that this hotel provides transportation to the New York airport If you have read my reviews in the post of this hotel, you should find a different hotel to stay in. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
