The Silver Legacy Resort Casino garners praise for its prime location in downtown Reno and its selection of modern amenities in clean, comfortable rooms. However, guests have had mixed experiences, with some highlighting issues such as maintenance problems and inconsistent housekeeping, which alongside unexpected fees, have led to concerns about the hotel's overall value. While the atmosphere is generally appreciated, with some calling the property outdated, the level of service receives varied feedback—instances of helpful staff are overshadowed by complaints of understaffing and slow service.

Kelly Conrad wrote a review May 2022
Seattle, Washington
The goods:

Ihad never been to Reno and I was taken here by someone with a long history and having stayed in this hotel and casino prior.

The hotel rooms were very nice and I was glad to have designated non smoking floors (which is still shocking to me living outside Nevada).

Make sure you never forget your hotel key to go in the elevators though or you’ll never get back to your room! They are required to make the elevators move which I can appreciate as an added security measure.

The casino itself is average I would say. I have gone to some fairly grand scale casinos in Washington so o think perhaps comparing to them was causing me to think them as average I suppose.

My complaints:

The self parking getting in and out and going in different elevators was a pain in the ass especially with no access to a luggage cart. I am not sure if its better with valet though I would imagine so if you can swallow the extra charge I would

The noise in that hotel was incredible and I don’t mean drunk patrons. I mean like what on earth was going on above me on the 15th floor I HOPE it was construction. It was ridiculously loud banging that woke me up several times and I found highly disruptive. Now I was only out till about 1 am but I would imagine many are up till 3 or 4 and in a place like this I would expect to be kind of “aware” of that fact so it’s a pleasant experience

The check out process is my biggest complaint and took far far too long. Most places you can either just leave your keys or say hey bye to the hotel staff. This place made you put your drivers license in a machine while it spins and thinks, then asked you for your room number, press 34 buttons just to get to the part where they finally tell you to put the hotel keys in this slot. In 2022 and with all this contactless Covid stuff I found this very weird and annoying.

Anyways overall it was a decent experience outside of the complaints and my sensitivity to altitude which is not the hotels fault!

Upon checking in we stated that we had traveled to Reno to celebrate our birthdays and a bottle of champagne and apple cider (I don't drink champagne) were sent up to our room. We chose to opt out of house keeping and were told that if we needed anything to just let them know. We also arrived during a Wifi outage. I was never able to access the internet for the 3 day stay. After the first morning our 2 pods of coffee were gone so we went to the front desk and requested more. On the 3rd morning I finally chased down housekeeping and asked her if we could get more coffee pods and some cups. We were never given additional shampoo but fortunately we always have some in our bag. It became a game to us to see how many days the same trash will be on the floor in the hall and by the elevator, the answer is 3. Will we return, well, the jury is still out. Would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room.

Very disappointed. From arrival at hotel very confusing.
Had to handle out own luggage, no assistance available, no host greeting, no signage to get fro drop off bus to registration. No group area designated for our flight.
We had to get our room keys from regular registration. Also at other Caesar’s, host usually had envelopes with room keys and new players cards for us on arrival.
We had to go down to Rewards in casino to get new players cards. Again no assist with luggage. My husband is in wheelchair so lucky other guest assisted.
Had to hail down a security guard for directions to room.
Did not get handicap room as requested.
Unable to charge meals to room as I usually have at all other places.
Room service, wanted to order a $15 breakfast, wanted to charge $14.99 for delivery plus 18% mandatory tip!
Gaming floor good, all gaming personnel and security very nice.
On check out again no assist for luggage. No signage on where to go to get bus.
Bus driver upset because he might have to handle my husband’s wheelchair so my daughter folded and loaded it herself.

I wanted to like this hotel, I really did but unfortunately I can’t recommend nor can I repeat my stay. We checked in with ease into our newly remodeled superior king room and even received a room on the non smoking floor as requested (ask at check-in). We went to the room to unpack and thought it was lovely, clean, with comfortable bedding and plenty of room.
Fast forward to that night when we try to sleep. We hear a fan going constantly, easy fix we think, it’s the heater, simply switch it to off. No, that’s not it, a fan keeps going even with the thermostat off and it is very very loud. We didn’t get much sleep.
The next morning we stop by the front desk to mention it, they blame it on the service elevator which we are at least 3-4 rooms away from. We know it’s the heating cooling system. She was friendly and offered to switch our rooms but we had to check back in a few hours, sounds reasonable so we did. Upon checking back in, it’s a new staff member who knew nothing but did say it probably wasn’t the service elevator however offered no explanation or apology but did switch our room. We’re here now in a new room that has the same issue. To top it off we are no longer in a king superior, we’ve been downgraded. It’s clear these newly remodeled rooms have an issue with the heating/air system where a fan constantly runs even though the thermostat is shut off. I recommend bringing ear plugs if you stay here and wish to get a good night sleep. Honestly if it wasn’t for this one issue Silver Legacy would be a wonderful place to stay. I’m so disappointed.

The check-in process was easy. This hotel is in a convenient location and the biggest plus is that it is connected to Circus Circus and El Dorado. There are a few convenient shops near the elevators for breakfast foods.

When we got our room on the 15th floor, we were disappointed to find that it was not clean.

There were yellow stains on the pillowcase of one of the pillows, there was smears of someone’s foundation makeup smeared on the coffee maker and chair (and some of the hotel’s menu for Piezzetta). There was also the remnant of someone’s fake fingernail on the floor in between the beds, with what looked to be white flakes scattered on the floor. This is not what you want to find after a long exhausting journey.

After we called the front desk and requested housekeeping come to clean the room, we out all of our things into the closet and went out to find dinner. When we came back 2.5 hours later, the room looked like it had been cleaned. There were still makeup smeared on the menu and at this point we were to tired to pursue that issue.

The room we got really needs an update. He shower head was icky and looked like it hadn’t been changed in 15+ years. The wall paper was peeling off under the vanity and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling and signs of obvious water damage that they tried to repair.

The bed felt itchy at night and we couldn’t stop sneezing. We figure this may have been from recent vacuuming kicking up dust in the room.

Another guest had their tv on really loud and we could hear it all through the vent in the wall above the lamp. Other than that, we didn’t hear much noise during our stay.

We were glad we had booked only one night here and were very ready to go when it came time to leave.

We always take before and after pics whenever we stay at any property, and looking back on everything, we did not feel like we got the value for what we paid for the room.

Stay here at your own risk. Not impressed. They charge as a "resort", force you to pay a "resort" fee, then don't even bother to clean your room. We stayed here for a celebration event being held on property since it was convenient. Left mid morning on Saturday June 5 for breakfast and to enjoy the day. There was housekeeping already on our floor that I noticed. Imagine my surprise when we got back to our room at 5pm and the room wasn't cleaned up. When I complained at the front desk, was told that there was no housekeeping that day. What was more odd was that when we got back to our room after watching the local baseball game around 11pm, housekeeping happened to be two doors down cleaning a room. Don't appreciate the lies. Don't appreciate the resort rates for the room or paying a "resort" fee for sub-par service. Don't stay here, I'm not impressed.

We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with all of us. To answer your question, a portion of the resort fee is made up of the tourism stipend imposed to hospitality establishments by the City of Reno. Amenities are taxable and currently include: on-sight, covered parking, high speed Wi-Fi, Bell Captain & Concierge services, in-room coffee and local & toll-free calls. As we continue to monitor developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic, housekeeping service is optional and must be requested upon check-in. Your important feedback has been shared with our management team for their attention. Thank you. We sincerely hope you'll visit us again to allow us an opportunity to better serve you. I took the whole family to Silver Legacy for Hot August Nights. I paid over $1,500 for two rooms looking over the parking lot ridiculous. I complained because they said that was supposed to be there deluxe room. So what is a non deluxe room. When I get there I booked it because they had a pool so the kids could swim in the pool they tell me because of the fires they close the pool. If I would have known that I wouldn't even a stay there. It was overpriced the housekeeping open the door without knocking. The restaurant they're the cafe the lady was extremely rude. They decided to give me $50 woohoo off my room with credit for food when I get to the restaurant they said they couldn't give me the credit the hotel had to call over there for the credit. The person running the register told me I have other customers I don't have time for this as if I'm not a customer. If you have children there has to be other entertainment in the hotel and that is why I booked at Silver Legacy because supposably they had a pool. Both days we stayed there was no pool basically no amenities. This place is a rip-off. The staff is rude. The food is awful. I give them one stars and if there was Zero Stars I would give him that.

I never thought I would mention "masks" in a hotel review, but here we are.

On check-in, everyone's temperature was checked and disposable masks were given to anyone needing them.. Signs everywhere in the hotel and casino say masks are required, and I'd say 99% of the guests and 100% of the staff I saw over 3 days wore them. That's a better percentage than I see almost anywhere else.

But back to the hotel. I'm not a "casino hotel" kind of person, but the midweek rates were exceptional, so I couldn't pass it by, compared to the equally nice non-casino hotels in the area. Very clean, updated, nice room - there wasn't anything I didn't care for. Maybe half the restaurants were open, due to current circumstances. I only ate one meal in the hotel, at The Cafe for breakfast, which was very good. The pool area was okay, nothing particularly interesting, but the children were happy.

I would stay here again the next time I'm in Reno. 2 thumbs up!

Stayed 5/18-5/22. Remodeled rooms are decent and finally have safes. Most staff were pleasant. Meals at La Strada and Roxy's were excellent. Brews Brothers remains a solid lunch or happy hour choice. Many eateries are still closed or open only on weekends.

Table minimums have been jacked up to $15 for blackjack and Pai Gow Poker, $10 for craps and carnie games. Too rich for casual table players like us. Played mostly video poker, and the machine selection remains very good. Didn't fare well this trip, but they can't all be winners. Floor servers were friendly and attentive once they found you. Music has been turned up way too loud. Most of the week the casino wasn't crowded. No need for rock concert volume levels.

Big issue is that either a lot of staff are new and/or the Caesar's merger is causing a lot of confusion. Checking my bill after leaving I saw we were charged the resort fee for two nights, even though it is waived on our offer. I had noticed this showing up when we checked in, but the woman checking us in said it would not appear when we checked out.

There was also confusion about resort credits, which we'd been told in the restaurant could be applied against our bill when we left if we charged the bill to our room. This too proved to be false. We were told when we checked out that we had to use them in the restaurant itself. Ended up using them wastefully on some stuff we could take with us.

I've tried for a couple of hours to resolve the resort charge billing error. After getting three wrong phone numbers (the first from someone at Silver Legacy) that put me in Caesar's system and holding for over half an hour I finally got a relevant Silver Legacy number. The operator transferred me to billing. Got the voice mail of a woman identifying herself as the "Billing Clerk" who said she'll return a message within 72 hours and there's no point in calling again (seems she doesn't answers calls).

Three days? How likely is that, or that we'll be here when she calls? Resolution may end up being to dispute the charge when the credit card bill comes. Such a shame, as we've stayed at Eldorado/Silver Legacy numerous times over the years and people typically seemed competent and knowledgeable. Things have changed.

I stayed at the SL during National Air Race week September 14-19, 2021. This was my 10th or 12th time at this hotel. I’ve also stayed at the Golden Nugget, partner hotel with The Row, owned by Caesars Resorts. The good: My room was on the 33rd floor. No complaints, quiet, clean, the bed was very comfortable. The room included a coffee maker, small refrigerator & a safe. The bad: Due to Covid, no buffet. I had breakfast the following day at their cafe. Basic breakfast, eggs, bacon, hash browns, coffee & juice; the bill was $30.00. The restaurants are way too expensive for the quality and amount of food offered. The Ugly: On the second night I was awakened at 0120 by my door being opened. I had a “do not disturb” sign on the outside. The safety latch prevented whoever was attempting to gain access to my room. The following morning I notified the front desk. The clerk apologized, but couldn’t provide an explanation as to how someone had a key card that opened my door. She stated that no key cards were issued other than the two issued to me at check in. I had both cards in my possession. Aside from that, no hiccups and overall the hotel was fine.

Deluxe rooms normally lower level on the building, cheaper price. Premium is higher floor with better view of the city and mountain tops.
