The MGM Grand enjoys a prime location on the strip, widely acknowledged by guests for its accessibility to attractions and transport, though not without a mention of its position at the strip's end. While the hotel's pool and lazy river are often highlighted positively, the atmosphere and rooms receive criticism for being outdated, with numerous guests calling for modernization.
Service experiences at the MGM Grand run the gamut, from commendable staff interactions and efficient app-based check-ins to frustration over slow service and problem handling. Opinions on cleanliness and value diverge, with some travelers satisfied with the upkeep, whereas others are let down by housekeeping and feel the pinch of high prices and additional fees.

Stayed at the MGM Grand in late October for 4 nights. Like most of the Hotels in Vegas, this establishment was a huge hotel, with many restaurants, cafes, bars, gaming areas, entertainment and conference rooms, shops & stores. There are 4 wings of accomodation that meet on the ground floor at a central fountain. Although we had booked a strip view, we were offered an upgrade (to pay) for a bigger room with lounge area. We chose the upgrade, but would not take it, if we stay here again, as the resort fee, resort fee tax, upgrade, upgrade tax equalled an extra $87.30 USD per night. Our room (#24203) was very spacious, 2 queens 1 for myself & husband and 1 for my mother. We had a large wardrobe with hanging space for out coats and to store our 4 suitcases. A lounge area with nice lighting, desk, tv cabinet etc. Our beds were so comfy and with the block out blinds we slept until lunchtime the first night!! (After flying from Australia!) The bathroom was roomy for the 3 of us with double basins, plenty of bench space, toilet, hair dryer, magnified makeup mirror, bath with overhead shower and another seperate shower. The minibar is full and we put my husbands medication in there on top of something that must of tripped the censor. We had a charge on our account, but after speaking to a friendly team member at reception they quickly removed it. Everyone from reception, to room attendants and housekeeping were friendly, helpful and courteous. Location is perfect to everything. There are lots of entry/exit points throughout the hotel that will get you quickly to where you want to go. We caught an uber to the Welcome to Vegas sign and then walked back. We walked as far as Caesars Palace and back. T-Mobile arena is an easy walk away too. The gaming floor is reasonable big, we’re not really gamblers but had fun looking around and playing the odd game. The huge sports bar was a great place to watch the basketball. We also enjoyed many restaurants and bars within the building. We would consider staying here again if we got a good deal.

The cleaning staff were the only MGM Grand staff I came into contact with. I was always greeted courteously and warmly. The room was clean. The main floor and elevators wreaked of cigarette smoke as people are allowed to smoke indoors in public areas, like the casino. I didn’t realise that in 2020 this would be allowed. Didn’t even think to ask or look this up beforehand. When at the hotel, we spent most of our time outside by the lovely heated pool and hot tub where people were still smoking but at least...fresh-ish air. The two restaurants we went to were fantastic. Morimoto and Emeril’s Fish House. The hotel itself was eventually easy to navigate and staff were helpful in pointing us in the right direction. The hotel charges you $30-40 a day if you just open the fridge So don’t bother bringing back doggy bags from restaurants unless you plan on eating the food fairly soon afterward. There are no coffee / tea makers in the rooms but several Starbucks locations on the main floor. I hate Starbucks coffee. My favourite coffee came from Emeril’s restaurant. It was divine. The bed was very comfortable and I heard no noise from the hallway or outside. I slept unusually well. This is my first Las Vegas resort experience. I can not compare it to other Las Vegas resorts but if I am to compare it to other hotels in other cities it is lacking.

We stayed here from 11th Feb to 16th Feb. We arrived late on the 11th due to delayed flights. We were meet with a friendly gentlemen at the check- in desk. He offered us a complimentary upgrade which was so nice to hear, we ended up on floor 28 in one of the tower blocks. The room was spotless and spacious exactly what you want when staying for 5 nights. If I could have taken the bed and pillows home with me I would have! Also the shower/bath was always hot which was a bonus some hotels I have stayed in we have had to wait for hot water. I heard from people before we left that the MGM wasn't the best choice of hotel, but these pjeople are obviously hard to please. The hotel staff where always pleasant to deal with including the ladies who cleaned the room, they l that was dirty, the casino had good atmosphere. When playing in the casino the ladies working offering drinks were approachable and nice. Hotel is so central!
The only disappointing thing about the hotel was that the swimming pool and swimming pool area was closed every day while we were there, which was just a disappointment as one the reasons we went with this hotel was because of the lazy river and pool area looked incredible in pictures so that was a huge let down, especially when your paying a resort fee you expect to be able to use all areas. Had the pool area been open, it would have been 5 stars for us.

MGM is very clean hotel with very friendly staff, the best restaurants, great shows, lots of slot machines, great walking location to New York New York, Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. My wife and I love the easy walk and experience through the shops and casinos to all the aforementioned hotels. It is also a stop on the Monorail route, which is a good way to visit other casinos on the strip. We've stayed at other hotels but MGM Grand is now the only place we stay when visiting Las Vegas.

We planned our Vegas trip before COVID for July 4-8 for my brother's 50th birthday and originally booked the Mirage. As the date got closer, we were relieved to see Vegas was reopening, but the Mirage still wasn't open so we switched to MGM Grand. After reading the poor reviews of MGM since the reopening, we were very concerned and considered switching again but decided to just lower our expectations and go with it. As it turns out we had nothing to worry about. Our King Strip View room was really nice, housekeeping came every day even though we had been told they weren't doing daily housekeeping, a thoughtful care package was provided which included hand sanitizer, a mask, and a button-pressing tool, and there are hand sanitizer and mask stations everywhere. You have to wear a mask and practice social distancing in the airports, on the plane, and pretty much everywhere in Vegas so it should come as no surprise that it is required at MGM. Staff was friendly and helpful. We reserved a cabana so had no problem getting into the pool and lazy river, although I will admit the cabanas are pricey but it was worth it having that wrist band for entry and reentry. A lot of the restaurants are still closed or have limited hours, there were no buffets and no shows which was so weird for Vegas, but also there weren't as many tourists so that was a plus. If it wasn't for my brother's 50th we probably would have canceled because traveling during a pandemic isn't ideal, but if you're going to travel to Vegas I would recommend MGM Grand. It's big and busy and we had a great time. Be sure to check beforehand to make sure the attractions you want to see are open to avoid disappointment.

Being no stranger to Las Vegas, I have spent more time here on the strip then most of the the locals- That said, I've always found my experiences here to be next to perfect. Parking is easy; I always use the valet, and they always have taken good care of my car. Check in is always a breeze, especially if you book a stay well room- which gives you access to the stay well check in and a much shorter line to deal with. This time I was in a stay well king room, which these are extremely clean and well prepared.. Beds are extremely comfortable, which is always one of the most important things I believe. I love the in room air purifier and deodorizer, very nice touches and keep it feeling so fresh. The only complaint I have is, outside of one of my stays here in 2018 (which was partly because I went big and got the skyline terrace-gorgeous), I have never been able to get a view of the strip! Maybe one day this can change? Hotel staff is always amongst the friendliest I encounter. In room dining is something to experience if you do not feel like going out, even on New Years eve they were quick and the food came well prepared.. Something to keep in mind when every where on the strip is completely packed, and at least a 20 minute walk there, back, and probably adding more to if you were at a restaurant..! Very worth it to me. MGM will always be one of my top choices to consider when booking rooms in Vegas. Thank you Mlife and MGM!

We planned a trip to Vegas for my 29th birthday and had such a great time! Mgm grand hotel pool will always be my favorite and the hotel staff is always so accommodating and well trained.
Room We always stay at the mgm and know the rooms are a bit less fancy then other hotels and a bit dark but still very clean which is important and at a great price and of course the pool. We booked a strip view but unfortunately had a banner obstructing the view. We did call the front desk to change rooms but they were unfortunately out of other strip view rooms but took off the amenity fee which was more than generous! This hotel will always be my go to because of the staff and consistency in customer service.
Pool The mgm pool is amazing with so many different options for all swimmers. My favorite is the lazy river which feels like it takes a full 15 to make a full loop. I'm sure it's way less but so relaxing. They are taking covid seriously and have made appropriate changes to procedures. There is a capacity limit for the pool area but they are not limiting how many people in each pool which is important to me since I came there for the lazy river and when I get out to use the bathroom I can just get right back in where ever I please. Masks are required but not while eating, drinking, or actively in the pool or physically wet. This is important because other hotels are requiring masks as you get into the pools and a lot of masks are ending up in the water or trash, what a waste!
Chair Rentals We rented chairs at the mgm pool by the lazy river. We had a wonderful host that checked us in. The chair rentals included an umbrella for ever two chairs rented. We rented five chairs so two umbrellas included but they put us in such an awesome location with tree shade. These chairs are ridiculously comfortable and so convenient to just jump into the river for a float!BE AWARE: these do not come with a food and beverage credit only the cabanas and daybeds.
Tubes The tubes are for purchase for $28 which is about the same price as the rentals were but now you get to reuse the tube. Tubes are a bit uncomfortable with too big of a hole you fall through. We found out later you can bring in your own floties as long as they are roundish and not to combersome 🤦♀️
Food & Beverage We ordered a slushie pina colada in the signature lion refillable cup at the pool $45 and $35 for a refill totally worth it if your sharing. Food was good had the cheese flat bread and chicken stripes for the group and it hit the spot.
I will always highly recommend this hotel to all my friends and family!

We travel to Vegas frequently. We knew this room wouldn't be AMAZING, it was inexpensive and the hotel is older, but we have stayed an similar venues on the strip before with more updated rooms. For sure UPGRADE if you are going to stay there. The West Wing King Room we had, the layout is not great, there is no bathroom privacy. You just hear and see everything. Very little space to easily get ready. The sink counter area is extremely small. There are huge mirror in the bedroom area part, but there is no lighting so you can't really use them. Floors were dirty. Dresser drawer fell out when we opened it. We just were really underwhelmed. Even the older hotels seem to freshen the room up with fresh paint, better lighting, etc. The layout was awful. I would not want to share the room with anyone other than your spouse or someone you are really really comfortable with. TV is in a strange spot, you can't really watch it in bed without sitting up and it is very far away.

I have to say I have been reluctant to stay at the MGM Grand because of the crowds I’ve always encountered in the casino and lobby area. But in these strange times, we decided to give it a try since we were there mid-week. Not surprisingly there was a definite emptiness to the place until Friday afternoon. COVID protocol was strictly enforced property wide, sanitation crews working constantly.
Disclaimer: we stayed at no cost other than resort fee with M Life rewards. We were given a suite, 5th floor. It was an adjoining room which gave us trouble our third night (domestic dispute). The suite did not have any view but was very spacious and well appointed. My one complaint of the room is lack of USB ports to charge phones and not enough plug in to charge multiple devices in the bedroom or living area. Lots of outlets in bathroom.
Everything in the room was up to the great MGM standards. There was a COVID kit with masks, hand sanitizer, and elevator button pushers (I honestly thought it was a bottle opener until I saw a gal using it).
The pool area was very nice. I highly recommend paying extra to reserve a lounge chair, you get to choose which pool you want. Only 50% capacity was allowed while I was there.
While half the restaurants are closed there were still plenty of food choices. I had a manicure at the spa (Grace was great!) Honestly, every person we came into contact with was wonderful. Even when they were enforcing a stupid mask rule at the pool (had to wear a mask while on lounge chair even though the chairs are 15feet apart.)
Give Vegas a try. They need us back.

We had a king room in the west wing. When you enter the room you walk right into an open concept bathroom. It is very awkward and lacks privacy. There is a glass door for the toilet stall but there is no privacy as the door didn't stay closed and even though it's frosted you can still see through it. I have stayed in hotels where the sink is of the bathroom and the toilet and shower were private which is fine, but this layout was stupid. The room is small. There was a small window behind the bed but it was dark in the room. You can hear hallway noise and your neighbors through the wall. The bed was comfortable. The shower needed to be cleaned better. There seems to be close tog a hundred rooms per floor and they are crammed in. Expect a long walk from the parking garage to the front desk and then to your room. The line at the front desk was very long, but moved quickly. There was no mini fridge in the room. I must say that I am tired of hotel resort fees. It is not a per person charge so just add it to the advertised room rate. I would rather have a rate of $115 per night than a $75 rate plus $40 resort fee charged at check in. The front desk person then tells you that the resort fee is for wifi, exercise room access, ect. I'm not going to use those things and since the resort fee is mandatory then just add it to the advertised rate. You are not fooling anyone into thinking they are getting a better rate. The MGM is conveniently located on the strip. I must stay I had a much better experience at Harrah's Casino hotel, but that was ten years ago so who knows what's changed. I would pick another hotel next time.

Taxi, wheel chair equipped van would be your best option, it is a relatively short trip from the airport to MGM so the cost factor should be reasonable ( no guarantee ) but the airport is literally minutes from the Grand.
There are more places to choose from in the Las Vegas area.
