We are often in Rome and always stay at Hotel Julia, a small boutique hotel because of the nice staff and convenient location. It’s not cheap but for Rome it’s competitive. We paid $1,500 Canadian for 4 nights for a larger room with a closet (October is off-season, more in season).
The staff is amazing Anna, Rosa and the team treat you like family. The beds are comfy and there is daily service. Tips are optional but appreciated and we always do. They have a small breakfast available consisting of home made croissants, bunt cake and coffees all at reasonable prices.
We’ve never had a bad experience here and most importantly they appreciate the business and are helpful.
Recommend.

The location was great and the staff was nice and helpful. They have limited front desk hours, so it was difficult to get help with internet problem after 5PM, which is when I would actually be at the hotel. There were not adequate plugs. There were not enough plugs, and there wasn't one by the desk, so you couldn't have a laptop plugged in, while at the desk. The internet was really bad. They have some kind of security on it that led to me having to restart my computer and play with the wifi settings every time I turned the computer off. It's the only hotel I've had such a problem at. The worst thing was how dirty the shower was. It was also so small that the doors wouldn't open all the way, which made it difficult to get into and move around once inside. If they could fix those problems, it would be a really nice hotel.

Old school euro pension type maybe. Updated baths. Has ac and lift. Helpful staff, very accommodating with respect to flights being canceled and great recommendation on diner. Location is fantastic, we were able to walk to pretty much all sites with slight effort even with the high heat of June 2022. Many eateries of all levels close by. Market close by. We had a two room suite, very good. Price also good. Hotel did not serve breakfast and rooms need not so much an update but some work. Loved early check in, very helpful when taking red eye from the east coast.

I would avoid. No hot water in our room for the entire time we stayed. They said we can use the communal shower on the floors below if we wanted hot water. The rooms were old and basic and the bed was very uncomfortable. Also no Wifi. The only good thing was the location.

Location of the hotel is excellent, very close to bustling Trevi Fountain, at the same time, located a bit away from noisy area. Close to bus stops and metro station Berberini. With many cafes and market around, shopping can be done easily. Many tourist attractions can be covered on foot.
Hotel staff is very pleasant, our refrigerator wasn’t working properly, they changed it. Rooms are comfortable with all the basic amenities provided in this budget in European cities, we had no issues. Go for it !

Stayed at Hotel Julia for 1 night in July. Specifically booked a hotel with air conditioning due to it being summer and temps of 37C / 100F. After returning to the hotel after exploring the city all day we find out the air conditioning in our room does not work. Hotel is fully booked so we cannot switch to another room. (We moved our mattress to our friend's room and slept on their floor due to our room being too hot.) The hotel front desk cannot give me a refund and states I have to email hotel management. We agree to a $50 refund via email exchange. I have emailed hotel management 6 times since August 4 asking when the agreed credit will be issued to my credit card. It has been 3 months with no response.

I do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel being the management does not follow through on their word.

I stayed at Hotel Julia for a week. I was in a single room (308). It had a small bathroom/toilet and the shower was next door which was fine.

Pros: location. It is about 7 minutes from the Trevi Fountain. Just turn left out the hotel and keep going straight on. It is walkable to the Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Colleseum, Circus Maximus etc. A bit far to walk to the Vatican probably but an easy taxi journey. The staff were helpful and polite. Rosa in particular was lovely. They organised a car to/from the airport for me for 65 euros which gave peace of mind.

Cons: The room was noisy with an air con unit outside the window. There are lots of food options within a few minutes but all that I tried nearby were very poor. The room/hotel needs a complete renovation. They are full all year around according to one member of staff. That money isn't being used for upkeep. It was clean but very poor upkeep. The toilet in my room was really hard to flush. There was an Aircon unit but no controls so the room was very warm. I was given a hand towel and a bath towel but these weren't changed in a full week stay. The lift had a bad smell and seemed pretty decrepit.

Overall if you're after location then this one is it but you're paying for location and not a decent hotel. It needs a lot of work and then it would be amazing.

In May of 2021, I booked 6 rooms at Hotel Julia for Oct. 14, 15, 16, 2022. All went well with booking, confirmation etc was timely via email.
3 days ago I emailed hotel to check on Covid testing near by, no response, Emailed again 2 days ago, no response and no answer to my phone call.
Lucky for our group, we had a friend visiting Rome and I asked if they could go and check our reservation. They did and discovered all of our rooms were cancelled. No notice, no information, no communication. Finally I was able to get thru to their phone and the lady that was so helpful with booking says she had no way of letting me know we were cancelled. So here we are with less than 1 month to check in and of course most everything already booked. She also said she would try to find us other accommodations so I sent an email so she could respond. Of course I haven’t heard from her.
We were lucky enough to find 6 rooms together further from city center than we wanted to be and at double the price.

We booked the Hotel Julia because the location is very central in Rome. We are aware that it is a 3 star hotel, but this standard is not met at all. The rooms are ancient and small, the bed is only 180 cm in length (!), the wifi does not work (cell phone reception in the room is also none), the shower head is broken, the water only drips and is ice cold. The toilet seat was not fixed. There was only one toilet paper roll. There is a view of the neighbor's workshop, which started work with the circular saw on Saturday at 8-12. We have already complained on the first day, a total of three times, to different people, no one took us seriously. Absolutely no recommendation - rather spend a few euros more, but enjoy the vacation in Rome.

Perfect for a city break in Rome travelling solo. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and help whenever you need it. Best of all is the location, so many places to eat, drink and shop around with the main attractions not far away either. 10/10 - Hopefully will stay again soon.
