This is not a hotel. It is a lovely BnB across from the Laurel train station. Came down with my sister in law for 4 days and stayed in the New York room. Bed is fantastic, never wanted to get out of it. Sofa bed was just that. Since we saw the 4 rooms built on HGTV's HomeTown, we knew what to expect of the room and the public area and was not disappointed.
Since we had not stayed in a BnB before we learned that if you did not request towels, you don't just get them. Also, the shower has no rug and was quite slippery. And the internet was spotty and I was so glad I was able to use my Sling so we could watch TV in the evenings.
We were told and knew about the stairs to get from floor to floor. Not for those of us with stair issues.
A special shout out to Stephanie and her husband. Once we met, she was right there with towels and helpful information. On our last day when we needed assistance after check out (thanks Keri and Jana) they helped us downstairs with our expanded luggage.
Laurel was all we expected it to be. We had a great time!

The Buzzard's Roost is perfectly located in the Heart of "Home Town" Laurel, Mississippi. We arrived in Laurel on Wednesday, 14 December 2023, about noon via Amtrak from New Orleans. This Inn is Directly across from the Laurel Train Station. Entry to the Inn is via a Touch Pad with a code received via email. We were pleased to see that handrails had.been added to the staircase. We watched the construction of this Inn on HGTV's "Home Town" and were concerned that no handrails were shown after completion. The design details of the Common Area and our New York Suite were excellent. We enjoyed the Keurig Coffee Station and the provided Pods and Creamer in the Common Area. Our room was very enjoyable with plenty of pillows and blankets. The advantage of this Inn is the Location: Easy walking distance to Buzzard's Roost Bar and Eatery, Pearl's Southern Diner, Mimmo's Italian Restaurant, the Laurel Mercantile, the Scotsman Store and Bolton's Home Town Tours Pick-up. We had a very enjoyable 2 night/3 day visit to Laurel thanks to Kerry's Buzzard's Roost.

We enjoyed the restaurant, great atmosphere, friendly staff, great food. The best thing was they served gluten free bread! I had a white mushroom and cheese grilled sandwich, which was excellent. I requested a fruit flavored ice tea and the waiter made me an original strawberry tea that turned out delicious 😋 . Our waiter was a young man with a great personality. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.

My wife and I had a weekend planned in Laurel.we were excited we were able to get a room at the Buzzards Roost Inn.
We were staying Saturday and Sunday nights. We stayed in the Birmingham room small but lovely. That was the best part because not much was accommodating. Our room was cold and couldn’t get the heat to work. I texted Jana and left a voice mail,of course no response in all I left three text a voice mail and an email all of which were seemed to be neglected as others have experienced. This seems to be an ongoing issue. We had one hand towel and two regular towels luke warm water and pressure not great. Our room was so cold we got up on Sunday and left at 6:30 in the morning to drive 10 hours back home. The city of Laurel was great lots of fun and enjoyed. the Napiers have certainly put Laurel on the map. Since reading so many reviews of experiencing the same issue we have had I will pursue to try and make sure others will not experience the same lack or care.

As previous reviews have noted this is not a hotel. You basically check in on line and take care of yourself. They do have coffee available as well as a refrigerator freezer to store your stuff. The room was well decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The location was great. Laurel is a lovely town and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We stayed in the Laurel room which faces the front and does have a sunny view in the morning. The room has 14 foot ceilings which is nice but makes it difficult to heat in the winter. We set the heater to 77 and we’re always on the cold side. The other problem we had was the shower , the water temperature was at lukewarm despite putting it on max high. We did notify the management and told her the other rooms were the same as our friends were staying in a different room-she said they would be by to fix it,but during our four day stay the water temperature did not change.
Lastly, and probably the biggest negative for this room was the train. I know the management can’t control this but the loud train horn that blows at midnight, 3:40 AM and 6 AM sounds like it’s running through our front room and will wake you up. Our friends at the back of the hotel also heard this as well, Probably not as loud though, so for this reason, we will not be back here as I enjoy a good nights sleep.

The following post is no reflection on the Napiers. Their designing and decorating of the hotel is lovely; though the New Orleans room is very compact for the high end pricing, the decor is impeccable. The room is charmingly appointed and boasts linen bedding, lush prints, fun bird phone chargers, stunning colors and Koehler fixtures. (1st image) Sadly, there is a problem with maintenance: dirty windows, drapes falling off the curtain rod, mildew in the shower and dusty spiderwebs were found all along the ceiling. (Photo’s attached) We enjoyed our visit to Laurel however, The Buzzards Roost was disappointing end to the day. Hopefully the hotel management will make adjustments.

The chance to stay in a room that Ben and Erin had done on Home Town was too good to miss. The Birmingham room is lovely. The bed is so comfortable, with lots of pillows so I could comfortably sit in bed and watch TV. The fridge in the kitchen was really handy for storing leftovers. It's a great place to stay when in Laurel.

When I first saw The Buzzards Roost episode on HomeTown I knew we had to go! Before the show was even finished I was googling to find out how to book a room. We have now had the privilege of 2 visits one in January and another in June. Our experience was so great with our first stay that we booked the second one before our first stay was even over! There’s so many good things to say: the hosts are amazing, the decor in both the Laurel Room and New Orleans rooms we stayed in was beautiful. The rooms were clean, the mattresses were so comfortable we actually inquired where to buy them!! The housekeeping service was impeccable with every need met. Stephanie is just a joy to talk to. Every aspect of our stay was exceptional! 10 out of 10 recommend!

Restaurant review:

Really enjoyed the food here!
Peach caprese flatbread was delicious. We added the grilled chicken and it was a fantastic touch! The fried PBJ was also delightful - I feel like adding bacon would really make this the perfect sandwich. The croissant beignets were to die for! Loved the raspberry sauce!

Atmosphere was decent! I feel like the tables are a bit close to each other and the decor is a bit lackluster. I think this place could benefit from a few finishing touches (examples to fix: cleaning supplies stacked outside the bathroom, exposed extension cords, empty candles on the tables, messy stage area, pillows in disarray, wobbly tables, etc) This place could easily feel elevated with a little extra attention to detail.

Good service! Decent prices. Would return!

Black bean veggie burger with an interesting twist on the sauce & Grilled mushrooms & cheese on sourdough were terrific.
