Stayed at the Sheraton for a single night trip. Check in staff was less than helpful, it was "here's your key, bye-bye now". I asked about what kind of food was served at the restaurant I got "ummmmmm....burgers and stuff". Several other questions had similar answers so I just stopped asking the routine questions that the check in staff should have told me at the get go.
The room was nice, very comfortable, bed was very nice, mini fridge, coffee maker with a couple of Starbucks coffee packs, nice shower with decent water pressure. BIGGEST NEGATIVE about the room was the heater unit would rattle on an off during the night, we just finally said screw it and turned it off all together.
Finally the most amazing thing we found about the property is that we could not hear any jet plane noise at all. We initially thought they were flying a different route, but looking out the window they were flying directly over the place. All the other places that we have stayed at around the airport in the past we always heard the jets.
Would stay here again, the staff just needs a little tweaking at check in and fix the rattling heaters please.

The room is spacious and clean, and the airport shuttle very convenient. Those were my primary reasons for choosing to stay here, and I'm not disappointed. The breakfast buffet is a bit expensive and I'm not sure I understand why some of us are being charged while others are not, but regardless of that, it is very good. I'm thinking either the free patrons have the buffet included in their room rate somehow or they are simply friends of the buffet attendant. Either way, the food is great and the attendant is very personable and attending to every need. Great service! With everything seemingly perfect, why did I give only 3 out of 5? The swimming pool and hot tub could have and should have made this a 5-star review, but unfortunately, the wild animals disguised as children were running rampant, using up all of the towels, throwing them in the water, screaming and yelling and just being out of control with no parental supervision of any kind. This is Motel 6 type of behavior, not what is expected at a Sheraton. Parents simply need to supervise and control their children, or be asked to leave. Not all of us are uncivilized animals, we actually travel for business and require a comfortable place to spend a night.

I stayed here for 2 days recently just for a weekend getaway with my guy. The staff at the front desk is absolutely awesome and very accommodating. Only a few issues. We stayed on the 3rd floor. Upon walking down the hall to our room there was a trail of cat litter and cat food in the hall. We thought that was so strange lol. It stayed there the entire stay so goes to show how often the staff vacuums. Our tv did not work the 1st day. I called the front desk and she had to have security come up to fix it. I chuckled at that but he did fix it lol. They didn't start serving breakfast until our last morning. Super expensive! $13 for a small omelet and $5 for sides. I thought that was just ridiculous. It's also freezing in the dining area. We decided not to order and went out to breakfast instead. I'll definitely stay here again and it will more than likely be sooner than later because I love weekend getaways.

I stayed here for two nights for a conference. I found services like replenishing towels and cleaning the rooms did not match the price of the stay. I called guest services about the towels we asked for and was told that guest services had nothing to do with fulfilling guests' requests. I paid $ 560.00 for a two-night stay and the rooms were not stocked. Two towels for a two-night stay and the tv was a joke. The tv went from quiet to loud in no time. My husband also told me that they would not come in and clean the room unless you specifically requested it. The carpets in the hallways were incredibly dingy. Should I return to Detroit, I will not be staying here again.

The ONLY reason I gave a 2nd star for this review was because of the kind Guest Services employee, Jamie, that went out of her way and tried to make up for all the shortcomings of this property. Upon pick up with Shuttles from airport, drivers are very kind but the condition of the vehicles leaves a lot to be desired, they seem to be rusted out, in old and very poor maintained condition, and luckily the ride is quick and not on highways, if it was further I would not have felt safe riding in the shuttles. Walking along hallways to room, was disappointed to see the windows looking out were so dirty, you could not see outside, and hallways were filled with room service leftover supplies, never picked up from the time I arrived, until leaving the next day. Upon arriving room the first time, I noticed the carpeting was dirty, and the sheets on bed had dark stains, but I bit my tongue and did not bring up. However, I noticed the pillows were in such horrible condition that they appeared to be in two pieces below the pillowcase. I called the front desk and asked for a firm pillow. After a half hour waiting, I called again and was told I could come down to get it. I went down a half hour later to get it and was told it was sent to my room! So I went out for dinner came back an hour later and still, no pillow! So I called a third time and lovely Jamie was nice enough to bring a pillow to me. Later that evening the air conditioning on this warm evening started blowing heat out! I ended up not being able to get any sleep at all! Knowing I would be coming back later in the week I called the hotel spoke to Mgr, Eric who assured me this was due to the chillers with the storm in the area, and it was fixed and would not be a problem when I came back. Well Guess what? I arrived back, over the course of 3 hours had to call 3 times to get pillows, finally the third time, lovely Jamie again came to my rescue! Later that evening woke up in my own sweat, as the AC in a totally different room then the first time, was pumping out heat after 9pm! Jamie was the only saving grace of this hotel, The bathroom and shower was very nice and modern, but the rest, with bedding that was too small and didn't fit, etc was a real disappointment. I would sadly not be able to recommend staying here and would suggest looking at many of the other hotel area properties to pick from.

I have stayed at the Sheraton at the Detroit Metro Airport multiple times. It is usually my go to hotel for a place to stay the night before an early flight. This stay, however, was a nightmare from the moment we checked in.
We were assigned room 700 at check-in. When I booked this room months ago I was guaranteed an Atrium Balcony room. When we got to our room it was just a standard room at the same price. I did go and speak with the front desk staff and I was told that all of the room types that I had booked were sold out. So, we settled in for the night disappointed.
We had been commenting all evening how hot it was in the room. We kept turning the thermostat down with no relief. As we were fanning ourselves with the take out menu we noticed that the temperature in the room was climbing. It was almost a stifling 80 degrees. We called maintenance and they finally showed up hours later. They were unable to fix the issue and we were offered another room.
Entering room 417 was a huge mistake. The odor is what first hit us. It smelled like a 99 year old man was in there bathing in hair tonic. Kind of like nursing home meets Great Clips. Guess what… it had an Atrium Balcony. Hmmm… Well, they must save this room to punish people because not only did it smell of geriatrics, the air conditioner was not working in this room either. Back to 700 it was for us to suffer in hell. Apparently all other rooms are filled and it would be $400 more to upgrade to a suite with working air conditioning.
Currently I sit outside contemplating what bench to sleep on in the lobby. Wow! I paid $280 to sleep like the homeless. Bravo Sheraton! I am shredding my Marriott Bonvoy membership and telling the others. The next door Howard Johnson is looking more promising by the second.

I typically stay at a different Marriott property when visiting Detroit however I saw this Sheraton had been recently renovated so I decided to give this property a try and that was a huge mistake!

First there is no where to park at all and lots of suspicious activity in the parking lots, next the keys do not work on the doors to rooms or the lounge had to visit the desk numerous times to fix the keys throughout my stay.

The coffee machine in the club lounge was broken and there was trash all over the place. Breakfast was not good, took a long time because they have one overworked employee doing multiple roles consisting of being the cook, server and cleaner. She was extremely friendly and was doing the best she could under the circumstances.

At night on nearly all sides of me there was constant noise and I informed the desk numerous times to no avail.

The pool is open but looks disgusting, the pool is indoor and you can see it from the elevator and the water looked so murky and unsafe with some white substance floating yet during the day there was many guests.

Overall this hotel is renovated but already has gone way down hill. I recommend guests choose another property such as the Delta or Marriott in the vicinity.

Bonvoy has certainly taken a hit during COVID. I have had bad stays at several Bonvoy properties during this health crisis but this was the worst. We arrived on Halloween afternoon. We had used the airport shuttle to come over and did not have a car yet. The hotel restaurant and bar were closed and the nearest restaurant in which we could have a nice meal was at least a 200 yard walk away in the cold. With mobility issues, that was not doable. We had to settle for the extremely limited room service offerings which were just okay. We were on the 4th floor. The hallway was dirty. At 12:30 a.m., the people on one side of us starting banging on the walls. At 2:30 a.m, there was raucous yelling that went on for about 15 minutes, At 6:00, I could hear a dog on the other side of us. The pillows are flat and worn out and it was difficult to sleep. At 6:30, I called to find out if there were any breakfast offerings. It took several rings for someone to pick up and then I was simply told by “Chris”, “no, the restaurant is closed.” This is NOT acceptable. We were longtime Starwood and Marriott Rewards members before they became Bonvoy. The service used to be tremendous. It is now terrible and COVID is not an excuse. I had wonderful breakfast and other service at a Varsity Clubs of America property earlier this month. It can be done. The young people at the Front Desk when we checked in were great but otherwise, this stay was very poor. Management must improve.

Cant Speak of the Onsite facility accommodations however I am very dissatisfied with the service from reservations to customer service. I reserved a room with the Sheraton Detroit Metro for a weekend event a couple months in advance and received a confirmation. While on vacation I received a confirmation from a different hotel for what I thought was already scheduled. After returning from my vacation upon calling and speaking to several people I find out my initial reservation was canceled, not by me and rescheduled at a neighbor hotel because of overbooking. I inquired how this could be when I was booked and confirmed months prior and was told that incoming "Platinum" members took precedence and I was among several others to be moved as a result of over booking. I asked about the difference in price and said I would have to take that up with the other overflow hotel but it wouldn't be more which I would hope not as it was a tier less hotel! Anyway fortunately the Manager at the overflow hotel Fairfield Inn, Heather was very helpful and at this point Id have to say based on customer service Id recommend it over the Sheraton. I travel frequently and just returned from England after an amazing stay at a couple Hilton Hotels which are typically my go to. Its been a while since Ive gone to a Sheraton and will probably be a while longer now. You will have to look to other reviews for how nice the Hotel is but be careful not to assume you have a reservation at this particular hotel just because you have a confirmation!

This is a Marriott brand property? Seems to be a trend lately. Major hotel chains recycling very old properties with superficial facelifts but neglecting important infrastructure and amenity details. Unfortunately, this property appears to fall into this category. I"m budgeted for 3-4 hotel nights a week. Company travel dept. chooses the properties. I've stayed at this property 3 times in the last month and am not impressed. Worn furnishings and inconsitant room temperatures (either no heat or too much heat, all with noisy in wall HVAC). Furnishings, Fixtures, Linen and Terry all lacking and/or cheap. Would you want to sit in either of these lobby chairs? Not very hospitable. Management either doesn't care or is asleep at the wheel.. Very Disappointing. Please increase your attention to maintenance and FF&E .
