My first time visiting & had the time of my life. Ellen at the reception desk was my first surprise as we had spoken on the phone earlier. She was so helpful & friendly, and assisted in helping me take photos of myself to send to family. Secondly, "Roach" appeared to join in the fun (security director) & he took amazing photos & had them sent to home which were better than mine. Told me all about the resort, directed me whereas I could check out every decor & detail & made me feel as if I was a celebrity.
My room was wonderful, spacious & checked all the boxes. The celebration with the entertainment, food, drinks & guests topped off the evening ...........making it one of the best parties I have ever been to. Breakfast the next morning was top notch, complete with scenery to enjoy and folks to visit with. This vine is chasing, complete with indoor & outdoor pool, exercise room, neat bar & restaurant and rooms with fireplaces. The lobby is welcoming & if you are a fan of log structures, this one should not be missed. Every member of the staff spoke when passing, spotlessly clean & everything you need for an awesome getaway adventure. I can only imagine how fun it must be in the warmer months with golf & hiking. There were wagon rides on the property which can be converted to sleigh when the snow appears & weekend events for the day or evening if so inclined to just get a feel of the place. I'll return for sure & I recommend a visit if you are in the area. It was magical & I thank everyone there for an amazing experience.

A huge positive is if you are doing a golf trip, all the courses are accessible from the same area so there is no driving & getting lost trying to find the right course. The grounds are beautiful & well kept. One of the ‘starters’ was nothing but a crabby, rude old man; most of the rangers are friendly. Some of the rooms are renovated, others are not; the chair in our room should be taken out & burnt. Due to Covid, the hot tub is closed, there is no cleaning of rooms during your stay, and many of the meals are buffets. Which brings us to the cons. The buffets are not good. Breakfast is barely edible; the BBQ buffet was terrible. The only things worth eating from that were the cornbread & the green beans. Ribs were fatty & greasy, chicken was so tough, it was difficult to cut, much less chew. For $25.00, all of us expected much better food. The waitstaff & bartenders scrambled to keep everyone’s drink orders coming; they did a great job. If you don’t golf, there isn’t much to do around there.

Great resort. Everything is there and centrally located. Golf courses were very well conditioned and playable despite considerable rain the days before our arrival on June 28. Staff extremely helpful as well.
Negatives? Wi Fi weak in the golf cottage and cups not changed for several days on the courses.

My family of 4 rented one of the two bedroom cottages for the July 4th weekend. We were looking at using the location as a base to lay our head and have breakfast at. The people at check were very kind and helpful. The set up of the cabin was perfect for what we were looking for. All was fine until we got inside. The floor and carpet was disgusting. If I had an infant I would not have allowed them to crawl on the carpet which was heavily stained. There was a gas stove, but we had to buy a lighter to get it to work. The upstairs bathroom toilet was barely functional and took forever to fill. You could not take 2 showers at the same time and if you showered at night your spent the next 2 hours listening to the banging of the hot water tank. For $500 a night you would hope for a clean and functioning location or at least afford new carpet or floorings.

I've been playing golf for 25 years at the Garland Resort along with my 3 friends. I have always been pleased with the course conditions, service and food/drink.
This year our experience was less than enjoyable (other than the golf) ...staff was short and rude, in addition the management apparently deciding to eliminate offering appetizers to the golfers after playing a round of golf... other than a bag of chips. We have easily spent over $40,000.00 between green fees and drinks/food over the last 25 years. It baffles me that a decision was made to not serve casual food/appetizers to paying guests (the answer was they don't do that a buffet night btw) but there were 3 buffet nights in a row. How hard can it be to offer a cheese plate, wings or potato skins?.... It actually had us considering changing the venue after this length of time supporting the place.
summary; 1. Not a good decision on the food service front
2. Have the staff not be so ornery and grumpy
It's a resort, and we go there to enjoy food, drink and service.

I always have an amazing time at Garland Resort. They offer stay and play golf packages in the spring and fall seasons for a great rate. If you go make sure you say hello to "Roach" the nicest person you'll ever meet!

Went for a golf weekend with my girlfriends. We were rained out on Saturday and asked if we could use one of the common rooms to play games and have snacks. The front desk allowed us to use one of the rooms as long as we cleaned up. We were there for several hours when a man (not sure if he was a security guard or a manager) came in the room and said we were not allowed to be in there. We explained that we asked permission and he said he knew but that the young lady who told us we could was wrong and that she got her "ass chewed out". We were not combative we quickly cleaned up our stuff and apologized. The whole interaction was completely unprofessional. Later that evening we ate dinner in the dining room , ordered drinks from the bar and played games at the table. One of the girls from our party went to her room and brought back a small square plastic container with bar nuts. Shortly thereafter the same gentleman came over and told us we had to leave because we were eating in the dinning room. She said she would put them away and just as previously he was unprofessional and told us we had to leave the dining room. He also told us that he was instructed to kick us out by the dining room manager...I can not recall he name but she had pigtails and pink hair. We spent hundreds of dollars in that dinning room and got kicked out for eating a $8 container of bar nuts.

The rooms were clean but outdated. They smelled musty and the sink in the bathroom was always backed up!

We came to Garland as a group of 12 ladies for lunch. We had called ahead the day before, knowing they did not take reservations, but as a heads up. On a VERY rainy day we were seated promptly in the dining room. Shortly after a “gentleman”, aka the owner, came to our table to ask what we were doing there. He proceeded to let us know that he had 500 golfers on the course & he was very, very rude in informing us he did not know if we could be accommodated. Our server (God love her) continued to take food & drink orders. The food was good, our server was excellent, though somewhat embarrassed. The restaurant remained about half full. It can easily be said that there are 12 families that won’t be eating at Garland ever again.

Garland is a wonderland in the Winter months. We spent the weekend at Garland with a group of 50 people. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. We even had a fireplace in the very spacious room. The food, especially for a large group was great. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were whisked off the the fishing hole that had numerous winter games including ice golf, ice bowling and fishing among other outdoor sports. Sleigh rides, hot chocolate, and outdoor firepits were just a sampling of what was available. The best part of our visit was the staff. The best service we have ever had at a resort. Especially, The Roach, the head of security and the best ambassador any place can have. He and all staff were delightful. We will make this an annual visit.

Traveled for a guys golf trip of 8 friends in late sept. 2020. Great looking lodge and cabins. We stayed in the villas which were great location and could walk to the clubhouse for you tee times. Everything else about the Villas were subpar however. Very old feel in desperate need of updates. Mini fridge that barely worked, gives you ice bucket but no where close to get ice, no common sink or counter, tiny 27" TV, no ceiling lights (which isn't usually an issue) but lamps were VERY dull and did not light the place at all, very hard to see once sun went down. Bathrooms were not great either, one of our showers barely dripped any water out and some of the rustiest water I've experienced. Barely cell service and their internet access was AWFUL. After complaining 3 times to the front desk and ensuring us engineering was checking into this they never got back to us.
On the golf side, the courses were great - fountains and monarch being the superior choices. Very convenient to start at the same clubhouse everyday for all 4 courses and they were in great shape. Also the restaurant staff and bartenders were very friendly, A+ to them.
Golf 4.5, accommodations 1.5, would not return to stay there until updates.

Weekend packages are available for January and February for lodging without other activities. At this time the golf season (May-October) is available for golf packages but not for lodging only. Lodging only will become available mid-March.

Between $120-$150 I believe. Depends on the room. More if you're in the Villas.

A few thoughts.... The main lodge is nice but ask for one of the newer upgraded rooms. Last time we stayed in the villas they needed an upgrade. Old 90's green and burgundy decor, etc. Our last visit was in winter so not sure about the outdoor pool care. Assume they clean it regularly since summer time is their big season. The courses are great but be ready to deal with nats. They can be annoying on the greens but don't bite, etc. one tip I learned playing golf there, when you're on the green trying to line up a putt bring a towel or hat and hold it on putter above your head. The nats always go to the highest point and will circle around that rather than your head. Hope this helps and you enjoy your stay. If you want a good old bar burger and beer head into town and eat at Tally's.
