Lido Beach Resort is often lauded for its cleanliness and prime beachfront location, with guests enjoying the immaculate rooms and easy access to local shops and restaurants. While the views and cleanliness of rooms are celebrated, some guests feel updates are necessary. The resort's welcoming atmosphere and the variety of amenities, including a well-maintained beach and dining options, contribute to its charm. However, despite the friendly and accommodating service, some travelers question the value, citing high costs and additional fees.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I just returned from a 3-day stay at OPAL's Lido Beach Resort. This is one of the best hotels where we have ever stayed. The location is perfect, the room was pristine with a mini kitchen and a small dining area. We had a beautiful view of the Gulf from our balcony, and the most amazing bathroom shower I've ever seen. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful from the front desk to the person handing out towels at one of two swimming pools. The private beach in front of the hotel is beautiful. The large Tiki Bar was a source of generous drinks and an excellent selection of sandwiches. The bartenders were all friendly and attentive. We walked on the beach for over a mile, took long walks along the main drag behind the hotel - this is a very prosperous area with high end condos and nice hotels - and went to St Armands for breakfast. If you haven't been to the St Armands shopping and dining area and you are staying in the area you should go there. The hotel shuttle runs all day. The Drift Kitchen and Bar is on the 8th floor of the tall hotel building and the food was outstanding both nights we had dinner there. This is definitely a place we will revisit.

We really liked the rooms at this hotel. They had a mini kitchen full size refrigerator with freezer, Keurig coffee maker which they provide green mountain caffeinated, caffeine free, and tea for it, toaster, dishwasher, sink, and dishwasher in the room. The bathrooms are on the smaller side, but up to date and good lighting. The beds are on the firmer side. The pillows suck, this was the worst part of my stay. They give you 4 small pillows that are very fluffy and kink your neck when you sleep, if I went back I would take my own pillow. Due to the COVID 19, the housekeepers are not entering into the rooms to clean and restock supplies. Our room floor got pretty sandy over the week long stay. We had to go to the front desk to obtain more coffee, towels, and toilet paper, but, they were nice about it. The hotel is clean. The elevators are slow and small. There is parking lot next to the hotel and they have a parking garage. They charge you for parking, I think around $15 a day. The hotel is right on the beach. The beach was disappointing, it did not have the beautiful blue water I was expecting and had a lot of seaweed. We brought our pop up canopy, the front desk told us we could not use it, but, there were several pop up canopy's on the beach and the beach attendant told us we were allowed to put it up. It has an adult pool with a hot tub and it has a separate pool for the kids, which is surprisingly big and deep. The staff is very nice, some of them do not speak English, more of the housekeeping staff then the front desk and bar staff. They have a restaurant on premises, but, it is closed due to COVID. You can order room service or order from the bar. It is about a 5 minute drive to St Armands shopping. Unfortunately, they do not have a shuttle. There are a lot of shops there but they are not great shops, disappointed about the shopping, always looking forward to good shopping on vacation. There are several places to eat in St Armands circle, some of them deliver or you can use Uber or one of the other delivery services if the restaurants do not deliver. Rico's and Venezia's were our favorite. Overall, it was a relaxing trip with the family.

Dear vacationtime1233, We have made some changes during the pandemic to protect our guests and employees. Our shuttle to St. Armands Circle is not currently running and housekeeping is not entering guestrooms after our guests arrive. We have added staffing to deliver in room amenities and we are encouraging our guests to contact us via text for any items they need. We have reopened Drift at 50% capacity, but we also have take out and room service options. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope to see you again!

Resort is beautiful & clean! They respect all COVID protocol and the rooms were exactly as promised. This is our second trip, we also visited last month, loved it so much! Tom the beach staff member in the morning until about 1400hrs is the hardest worker we have ever encountered at "the beach" heads and shoulders above the late crew. He smiles while making sure to address everyone, just amazing.

Jason Pabst the front desk supervisor was the best this industry has to offer, he practiced kindness and active listening skills as well as feedback, true pride in his chosen profession, a true ambassador for this property.

The food at the resort was very high in quality as well as the drinks, all of the servers were approachable and friendly. The resort has a great parking garage for $15.00 a night but we loved the in and out at our leisure as well as feeling our vehicle was secure.

There was zero housekeeping once you checked in but we brought garbage bags and kept our room tidy, if you needed anything one just had to ask. We have booked for next year already and may even return one more time this month, the property PLUS her people are that welcoming. Thank you Lido Beach resort!

We spent a week at the resort and I will say that the employees deserved 5 stars for their friendliness and efforts to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and everything was what we expected. This is our 4th trip to this resort and our best stay yet. Because of the Pandemic, we basically ate at the hotel every night. That was very unusual for us, since part of the reason we come to Lido is for the great restaurants in the area and shopping, but there is enough variety to make every day and night eats a delight. Melanie was extremely good at the Tiki bar. Tucker was great at check in. All the room service staff was very friendly and professional. Every employee was cleaning constantly, which gave us peace of mind during an unpeaceful situation. Only a couple of glitches, but easy to overcome. Our room only had a microwave since they renovated the rooms, which was fine, except there were no microwavable bowls or plates provided in the unit. Second, wifi was very poor and not secure, which can be an issue. Lastly, ants. We called about them, but no one came. We turned that into a sport to see how many we could kill on a daily basis. It is Florida. It is tropical, so bugs will be bugs. Thanks for the great week of vacation and we will be back next year.

Lido Beach Resort is a nice facility but we would choose someplace else next time. Two pools, one is adults only but that definitely wasn't enforced while we were there. There is a Tiki Bar by the pool but it closes at 8pm while the pool area remains open til 10pm-so no fun night life on the pool deck. Also, no music on the pool deck. Music at the tiki bar playing quietly but even water parks have tropical tunes going for ambiance. I'm not sure if they're shorthanded like most places, but the pool deck area was strewn with trash and wet towels all three days. It seems like there should be someone that checks the area hourly and picks up trash and wet towels. Skip the restaurant on the 8th floor. No seasoning on the food and it wasn't quite made to the menu description- and the manager on shift the night we were there couldn't care less when there was an issue with part of our order not being brought to the table. She actually shrugged her shoulders. We did have the unfortunate incident of a lightning strike on our last night that killed the AC. It was a rough night but we were fully comped for the room so the did make the effort to "make it right".
There's no oven In the unit and our microwave didn't work. That kinda sucked because we would have liked to heat our leftovers but the tiki bar food was good. Most of the staff were great.
Our room was $800+ per night after all the taxes/fees/room rate but I don't feel like this is $800+ a night worth of "resort quality" living.

Dear AmandainFlorida, Thank you for your candid review of your recent visit to Lido Beach Resort. I am sorry there were kids in the adult pool and we did not react promptly. Typically, our team on the pool deck will call myself or the Manager on Duty if we see children in the adult pool. We unfortunately are unable to keep our Tiki Bar open beyond 8pm as it is close proximity to the beach. We certainly should never have wet towels or trash on our pool deck and I have shared your comments with our pool/beach team. I appreciate your understanding of the lightening striking our roof causing the AC to be affected.

My husband and I just finished a 4 night stay at this resort. The best thing about this resort is the location. A perfect swimmable beach and walk to St Armands Circle. Our oceanfront balcony room provided a panoramic view of the nice white sand beach and clear Gulf waters. Everything about our time spent at this resort was great. I appreciated the masks worn by employees, the social distancing signage, abundant hand sanitizing stations and even lack of housekeeping in rooms to keep contact at a minimum. I think it showed much respect for guest and employee safety. The service employees we encountered were kind and responsive. We were given an unexpected $75 credit per day to use for resort amenities. Overall, our experience was very pleasant.

When traveling during Covid, plan to lower your expectations. Our group arrived a little bit before the 4:00 check in. Given the high occupancy rate, our room was not ready so they kept our bags, gave us resort bracelets and we were able to access the beach and pools while we waited. Our room was a lovely suite with a great view - for which we paid a very high rate. Upon checking in we were told that we would not be receiving maid service. During our stay it was not uncommon to see garbage out in the halls. We asked two different staff members about late checkout. One said bluntly that it is not an option due to Covid. The other at least looked to see if our room was being used later that day (which it was) and we were told it needed 4 hours to be cleaned. The suite itself was lovely. We could text when we needed anything although sometimes it took a reminder text. The beach is beautiful and the attendants were quick to provide umbrellas. It was very clear that the hotel didn't limit the beach to guests only. One of the restaurants was closed for construction leaving the only place to have lunch on the premises at the Tiki bar outside without shade. The shop in the lobby went out of business so there is no place on site to buy sundries - and there is no place close by. The lobby is minimal/drab and lacks seating. The food at both restaurants is good. Drinks are way overpriced - $3 for a small plastic cup of coke at the bar. While there were signs to wear masks while inside in common spaces, around 50% did and there was no effort for any enforcement of the mask policy. Location is convenient.

Dear Lori K, I regret that we were unable to provide a five star experience during your visit to Lido Beach Resort. We are currently renovating our lobby which was the former location of Lido Cafe. We are offering all three meals in either Drift Kitchen & Bar or our Tiki Bar for all day service. We have minimal items from our gift shop during renovation such as sunscreen, but I am sure that when our lobby renovation is complete, it will be impressive. Masks are now optional for guests and employees.

First of all, when we got there, they were doing construction on the beach and the beach was closed. We were not made aware of this before booking. We couldn’t even use the beach in front of the hotel and one day we actually had to drive down to one of their sister resorts to use the beach. So we paid the standard rate, but weren’t even able to use the beach on the property. One afternoon, my husband and I were in the hotel room getting ready to head to dinner, and all of the sudden a maintenance man unlocks our door and starts coming into our room WITHOUT KNOCKING. So I throw my clothes on and go to the door to ask him what he’s doing and he says he got a call about a broken toilet. We never called about any maintenance issues, and even if he was at the wrong room, why would you go into someone’s room without even knocking or making yourself known whatsoever? We mentioned this to the front desk staff, but they hardly even apologized. Needless to say, we will not be back.

Dear 60daniellew, I am assuming that this is a review from October 2020 as the beach was closed to add sand that had eroded over the years. Our beach is open with a volleyball net, beanbag toss and plenty of space for our guests. I am shocked to hear that one of our Associates entered your room without knocking twice. I have yet to encounter this at Lido Beach Resort, however I will reinforce this with our team so we can allow ample time before entering guest rooms. We take this matter very seriously, and if you would like to speak with me personally please contact me directly.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly by John & Simon at valet and a efficient front desk clerk Jaun during check-in . Ans from that moment on set the tone for our great experience at Lido beach resort . We also had the pleasure of meeting assit Manager Jeff who couldn’t have been nicer and even recommended a restaurant when we inquired and insisted on making reservation for us that evening . Jeff was always available for any questions or any of our vacation needs during our stay . Tom and his associates at the beach couldn’t have been more helpful answering all our questions about the area and all the activities available to us . The tiki bar has great food & drinks throughout the day with outdoor tables that were always kept clean & set up by a very pleasant staff . Our room was immaculate and well designed newly renovated with soft relaxing hues . The kitchenette has a full fridge and
stovetop ,dishwasher & counter island with 2 chairs also a table for 4 which is very nice . The bed was very comfortable with plenty of extra pillows , blankets and quality sheets . Towels were high quality & abundant in both the room and pool & beach areas . The larger pool was being renovated ( which we were informed of before out visit) they did have a adjacent pool area that was clean and plenty of lounges , tables and umbrellas available throughout the day .The beach is open till 10:00 pm which is very nice and there weren’t any disturbances of any kind due to the late hour . The beach is beautiful kept very clean the loungers are comfortable & included in resort fee the umbrellas are 15$ a day they are large enough to cover 2 loungers .The hotel restaurant offers a 20$ per person credit for breakfast each morning which is sufficient for their moderate priced menu We didn’t have a chance to have dinner there but heard good reviews about The Drift Restaurant located on the 8 th floor has gulf views and a very pretty spa-like waiting area to have coffee or drinks from the bar . We had a Jr king beachfront room with balcony with 2 wooden rockers on the 14 th floor which I highly recommend for great views . We had great stay at Lido beach resort location is everything and this resort has it all ! They provide a free shuttle to St.Armands circle till 10pm daily which is a plus plus which provides access to great restaurants & shops with something for everyone . We will be planning a trip there again in the very near future . A big thank you to everyone involved in making our visit a hassle - free all around great experience See you again soon

Our experience was very disappointing. From the lack of cleanliness of the bathroom and floor of our room, to the beach staff being rather rude. We would not recommend staying at this property.

Sunset was to be around 7:45pm. The hotel provides beach chairs and umbrellas to use (which is part of why we selected staying here) however about an hour prior to sunset their staff comes around to pick up all the chairs and kick you off. They would even start moving other peoples stuff who were maybe in the water or not at the seats, leaving people confused when they returned to just find their stuff lying on the sand.

The hotel overall seemed fine, recently refurbished, however the lack of respect by hotel staff to course correct other guests behavior left a lot to be desired. The hotel allows guests to enter into the family pool with speakers, blasting loud music and eating food in the pool. If this is what you are looking for, you are in the right spot, however with concerns of cleanliness being top of mind for everyone these days, it meant we did not feel comfortable using the pool amentias.

The room itself was not very clean, felt very stuffy. Bathroom had mildew in shower and just overall was unpleasant to be in.

I would recommend staying elsewhere, unless of course you are looking for a property such as this.

Dear Srudowitz, We appreciate your candid feedback regarding your visit to Lido Beach Resort. We have added a security detail to our pool deck to ensure only resort guests are using our pools and to avoid any loud music on the pool deck. Our beach staff does remove chairs and umbrellas from the beach around sunset to keep the beach clean while under some sunlight. I will make sure we are not removing these items prematurely.

I would say it depends which room and which side of hotel your room is. We stayed there in Aug last year the first room they put us in was awful, old, not that clean, in need of attention, dirty balcony, Holes in curtains etc - it was on the side of hotel. However we moved to a beachfront room which was much nicer, cleaner and we enjoyed our stay. The facilities and location are perfect.
