Beachside Resort Key West is often lauded for its welcoming atmosphere and comfortable accommodations, featuring updated amenities that guests appreciate. While the rooms are generally well-regarded for their cleanliness and comfort, some guests have pointed out maintenance and cleanliness issues. Despite the praise for its friendly service and well-maintained amenities like the shuttle service and pool area, concerns about value for money and unexpected costs, including hidden fees, are notable. Travelers commend the overall cleanliness, yet some have been surprised by cleaning fees.

We stayed in a beautiful one bedroom, one and a half bathroom presidential suite. The location of the resort is ideal; it’s quiet with plenty of stores, banks, and restaurants nearby yet a few minutes away from the fun and excitement of downtown. There are two Publix grocery stores within a mile.
There’s parking in a garage (additional $25 per night) below each building. Our condo was beautifully furnished with kitchen cabinets fully stocked with plates, glasses, silverware, and cooking utensils. There was a washer and dryer, a safe in the closet, a TV in the living room and another in the bedroom, a jacuzzi tub, and the additional half bath was a great bonus.
Due to COVID the main restaurant wasn’t serving their normal menu, however we did enjoy eating at the poolside restaurant and bar, Chicken Walk. The food and drinks were good and at a reasonable price. Anton took good care of us.
We enjoyed beautiful sunsets right from the (non swimming) beach at the resort. There are plenty of chairs around the pool and patio near the beach. Even with social distancing we never had a problem finding a place to sit.
We rented a golf cart from Papa Scooters. They provided delivery and pickup service. Having and parking a golf cart was a lot better and easier than using our own vehicle.
We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay here. The 1 bedroom Presidential suite was perfect! 2 level balcony was fun and picturesque.
Wished the upper level balcony had some furniture. The fully equipped kitchen, open to living room was friendly. Having 1 1/2 baths and a washer & dryer was very functional. We had to cart all our luggage from our car to and from the suite which was very difficult. The check in had a welcome champagne drink for all very thoughtful. They had a shuttle every hour to downtown Key West which was very helpful. On New Years eve the shuttle only ran until 11 pm. When festivities ended all had to find an Uber. This was a bit troublesome but we managed. Would have liked a shuttle just for ease and comfort. Breakfast was delicious and service very friendly. Concierge was friendly but not very helpful as we wanted to know about some restaurants in certain areas downtown and all she told us about was not there anymore. Live music by the pool and happy hour was alot of fun! Beach pretty but no swimming allowed. High prices demand high service!

Stayed in the cheapest King Bed only room with no view. Still loved it! Nice location, great happy hour at pool bar and restaurant, free shuttle to Duval street and airport, pool party vibe music playing with a view of the ocean (nowhere on key west, without traveling by sea to offshore will get you the nice sand and clear water views btw) so I would say this place is worth it! Loved watching the manatees at the boat dock which is steps away! Lots of families here, (probably in the suites), but we were staying here short term as our flight was cancelled for two days. Stayed at Southernmost Beach Resort close to Duval Street for 4 days prior and would definitely come here instead if we returned to Key West. (No sunset views though unless you get a suite with rooftop access maybe?)Clean rooms, huge bathtub/shower, excellent staff at front desk (champagne while checking in!), restaurant/pool bar staff and food made our last days in Key West extremely enjoyable! We also went to the Hurricane Hole and Toasted Coconut bars that were within walking distance of the resort and Blue Bar and Tavern N Town here at the resort were by far the best for quality and prices! Already told my sister and a another friend this is the place to stay when visiting Key West!

We had a king size room that was in the same entry way as 2 other rooms. 3 rooms share an entryway. Every time someone leaves or enters you hear the door slam. Pool chairs are limited and people come out early in the morning to save pool chairs. At 11 am we saw several pool chairs being saved with no one using them for hours. Why does the hotel allow this? Then for the money you pay they only come and clean your room every 3rd day. We stayed three nights and on the third day they refused to clean our room. We arrived on the 2nd so they would not clean it until the 5th. We wanted fresh towels and our garbages emptied.I asked for fresh towels and my garbage to emptied hopefully when I get back to my room someone will have came. Self parking is $25 per day. And the name is misleading, beachside?? It should be bayside as there is no real beach

Dear Sonicpass7711, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent stay with us. I apologize for the housekeeping service issues, but due to COVID-19 we are doing full housekeeping service less frequently. In regards to the beach, Key West is a coral island. We do not naturally have the sandy beaches that people imagine when they think of Florida. I am sorry that we were not able to give you the experience that we strive to provide to each and every one of our guests. Once again, thank you for the feedback. ~Robert Monseglio rmonseglio@spottswood.com

Although the staff was very friendly, this hotel is absolutely not up to Marriott category 7 standards PARTICULARLY during the Covid-19 situation. Although there are signs throughout the resort, and all the staff are wearing masks, these were the barest necessary precautions. There was a hand sanitizer distributor mounted in the elevator but it was empty by Saturday and not refilled as of Tuesday when we left. No one was seen cleaning the elevator touch points, hand rails, or gates into pool. The pool side cafe tables were not being sanitized after each guest (visible crumbs on the tops). Lounge chairs not cleaned each day. We stayed here believing that it would be a safe option, but we were disappointed with the lack of sanitary measures once beyond the lobby. There weren't any hand sanitizer stations at the pool. Overall cleanliness was poor--not just by pandemic measures. We used stairs to avoid elevator and same obvious trash there for 3 days. "Beach" was dirty and ill kept. Broken oars, napkins, rubber gloves, face masks, band aids, trash wrappers, and beer cans all in evidence. Why is the beach area not cleaned each day? Chairs should be wiped down and straightened to maintain an upscale appearance. The beach was trashy day after day. The suite was nicely decorated but furnishings worn out. We are Titanium members and have stayed at some beautiful Marriott properties around the world. This was NOT one of them.

I have stayed at this Marriott for a winter vacation for many years...Usually in February. In the past I was always well pleased. It is obvious that the ravages of the pandemic have taken its toll here. The place looks like it needs some TLC. The buffet breakfast has been replaced by a complimentary bowl of luke-warm oatmeal. And while the hotel claims this change is because of Covid, prices have not changed. Russell, Maria and Alex couldn’t be any kinder in the dining room. (We miss Karoly at breakfast) However, Something is definitely amiss in the restaurant. Social distancing is non existent at the pool (and the pool furniture has become extremely shabby). Getting housekeeping to come in except on the 7th day of your stay is difficult, to say the least. I had a leak in my unit and when I asked to have someone come in to clean the floor, I was told that I wasn’t there 7 days yet. They eventually sent someone to do a merely adequate wipe down of the floor near the leak. The staff at the front desk is proficient but lacks warmth, friendliness or even an attempt at graciousness. Covid regulations are over stressed by cutting service (no newspapers) and quality and then completely ignored regarding the pool, numbers in elevators, masks, etc. It is obvious that Marriott is sacrificing much to make up for their financial pandemic losses. The Marriott has only to look across the bridge at the Perry Hotel, where I spent the previous week, to learn a thing or two.

Our family rented a 3 bedroom 3 bath condo for 7 days. It’s clear the hotel is using Covid as a reason to provide no service. Was advised no housekeeping until the 7th day. We had zero trash and terry service. We had to beg for towels and toilet paper. Had to wash our own sheets and beach towels and had to buy garbage bags, broom and cleaning supplies. They removed cushions from pool side lounge chairs which left a thin net with metal bars. Guests were bringing cushions from their rooms so they could use the pool. Restaurant 2 hrs for breakfast (can’t figure out to serve w/out buffet). The restaurant Refused to take reservations for dinner since we were a party of 8. Bar refused to seat us at 10 pm for drinks because we were not buying food. GM’s voice mail is not set up & manager on duty is too busy. To handle guest complaints. Have left multiple messages - no one called me back. The Water taxi service never was opened, vans too small & our family too big so we have to wait 1 hour for “next bus”! Take away service - wrong order & they refused to fix, Russian lady at pool couldn’t speak English & messed up every drink order. Door on the van is broke and wind ripped it almost off the door when it was opened. No bell service - covid, so we had to roll our 13 pieces of luggage from front desk, across the road, through two parking garages, and up 4 flights of stairs because elevator was busy. We paid over $1200 per night. Worst service EVER at a Marriott Hotel.

Hi Ms. Strickland, I would like to personally apologize for the lack of service you experienced on our property. It is true that we are not offering our daily housekeeping services. All items, including fresh sheets and towels are available upon request from our Front Desk or At Your Service Team. We are in the process of replacing our pool furniture and apologize that this was not completed prior to your arrival. Covid-19 has unfortunately affected our operations and things are different then prior to the pandemic. With that in mind, I would again like to apologize for the lack of service you experienced during your stay. We train our team members to be advanced in the art of hosting. We will be sure your comments are passed along to our Food and Beverage and Operations management team. In the mean time, you are welcome to reach out to myself at the email address below for any additional comments or questions. Thank you for staying with us and I hope next time we can truly show the 5 star experience we are known for on our property. As I was sitting on my balcony, I heard some rustling in the landscape below and then to my surprise I heard footsteps walking up to our balcony on the spiral staircase. It was a Marriott housekeeper who was clutching an empty garbage bag and heading up to my open patio door, as I was sitting in the back corner on a patio chair! I immediately called the front desk to notify them and they tried to tell me that it was probably another guest. Like it was a non-event. However this was far from the truth, as she was definitely not a guest, but a Marriott employee! The manager that I dealt with kept arguing with me that it was obviously a guest and that employees would never enter a room that way! When I gave him a description of the employee, he then tried to insinuate that I was in someway a racist! When I told him what this person's uniform looked like and what her face mask looked like, he said that there was no way that she was an employee. He was very unprofessional and argumentative. Then, later in the afternoon I received a call from the head of housekeeping and a different manager that it was indeed a hotel employee that was trying to gain access to my room via the patio door! They told me that she was confused!!! They tell me this after they insist that their employees would NEVER gain access to a room in this fashion! As I mentioned, they insisted that this was another guest! They offered me a weak apology and said that they would send up a six-pack of beer or a bottle of champagne to make up for it. I declined their hideous gift offer and told them that in the future, they should do a better job of listening to their guests. I heard from other employees working at this property and off site, that the management at this hotel is arrogant and there are many problems at this property. We do not like to complain, however the seriousness of this and my personal safety was in question! The arrogance and disregard from management was unacceptable. I sure am glad that I was sitting back on my balcony, or it's apparent that she would have had full access to our room full of our personal items. We noticed other guests leaving their patio doors unlocked while they were poolside, be very careful at this property! Management will argue with you! I'm glad We stay at a lot of different brand of hotels and we are also Marriott Platinum Elite members. This was one of the most unpleasant experiences, that we have ever encountered in the history of our Marriott stays. Management could have handled this professionally and should treat guests with dignity and respect!

I'm sure I will get a reply to this review either this was wrong or she didn't understand what I meant! Asking for bath towels summed up my experience at this hotel.

In summary it's branded Marriott, it's run by a franchise and there only interest is getting your dollars. It's not that it's run badly. It's a large resort which is run well. It just lacks any love. This is pure corporate hospitality. Keep costs as low as you can and give the guests what they need but definitely not anymore. Not even a single wash cloth more than they have to. That's what I left feeling from this experience.

It feels like a vacation resort that you would find in orlando where they provide kitchens and leave guests to vend for themselves! As it was a special birthday I decided to upgrade to a one bedroom apartment suite. I had written to manager before arrival asking for an apartment wirh a view. I received no response and did not receive the view. However I also understand that it's a busy weekend. So I can't blame them for being full. Yet no acknowledgment of my birthday in any form. No love!

Hospitality is about being hospitable and not just making money. For rooms that on average for this weekend costs over $1000, it's nice to feel something! I don't actually care about a card or bottle of wine. It's called caring that's all and respecting that clients have chosen to spend their money with you.

The room is huge and well equipped in terms of Kitchen, washer/dryer, nice whirlpool bath. Yet 3 towels, 3 small bath wash tubs, a dirty oven, no kettle. For a family of say 4 staying a week I can see this making sense and for many people it would tick many boxes. Even though the living room itself had the weirdest tv situation. Huge kitchen, huge dining table, huge sofa and the smallest tv in the corner that can't be moved and placed over an office desk! The pool is also very nice but small for a large resort.

This is also a little way out of the old town. There is a shuttle bus which solves this nonetheless if you plan on waking into the entertainment area this is perhaps a little far out. (Although some people would prefer to stay away from the revellers!)

But if it's a experience you are after it might be worth staying at the boutique style hotels that respect your money a little more and where you are not expected to go to reception to pick up your own towels.

I would also like to apologize that you felt we did not meet the expectations you had for our property. As a Marriott Hotel, we strive to Make It Brilliant, and your review has supplied us with many opportunities to seek how we can make special moments come alive for our guests. I would like to follow up and learn who you sent an email to in regards to pre-arrival? I deeply apologize that this was not followed up on, but want to be sure it was directed toward our arrival team. At the moment, we are not providing the daily housekeeping services. My feedback about my stay this week is not all negative, but the basic question is: Would I stay here again? The answer is most definitely no.

There were some positives:

I was able to check-in early after a brutal red-eye from the west coast. I didn't get the champagne welcome that comes with the daily resort fee...was not even offered.

The room I received was more like a cave, which is fine as most of the time I was there I was outside the room. The bed was comfortable, the room was kept cool by a good AC system and the water pressure in the shower was above average.

The food & beverage was good and service level of staff in that area was also above average. The prices seemed reasonable at the attached restaurant where I had 2 breakfasts and one dinner. The meeting I attended offered a lunch and a dinner and both were average for quality of a group function meal.

The airport shuttle was a nice feature that comes with the daily resort fee. I didn't use the downtown shuttle service since it was only offered at the top of the hour and if you miss it, you miss it.

The negatives:

The room was not up to a good level of clean. The tile floors seemed to have stuff on them that my bare feet met every time I touched them. There was a crack between the head of the bed and the headboard with layers of dander on the headboard...gross!!

Supplying 1 washcloth, 2 hand towels and 2 bath towels for the stay...kinda skimpy. I tried using the Marriott Bonvoy app to order more linens, but that failed, so I called the front desk and they were delivered pretty promptly.

First hand stories of other event attendees that I was told: pillows not having pillow cases; not having a room ready until after 5pm on a check-in day; giving a room key to an already occupied room!!

As a Category 7 Marriott property, I find this hotel to be severely lacking. I really felt bad for the poor shuttle driver who took me to the airport. He was a younger guy, said he'd worked there for 3 years and was sad at the state the place has fallen to. Chin up kid, maybe they will take the feedback and turn it around. If not, there are plenty of other places to stay and work in KW.

I certainly hope it has been addressed. I did also send an email to Marriott corporate, but who knows where that will go. I did get back a auto response, but I'm sure it will be some time before I hear back from them. The Hotel does have a little age on it. When I complained to some of the Desk staff all I got was Resorts are different. Why should they be?
