New Market, Indiana
Our experience at Wild Wave started off less than good. First, we were not aware that there was no elevator and everything had to be carried up steps. We were told that when we arrived the apartment would be unlocked and the key would be on the counter. When we went in there was no key and when we went into the bedroom the bed was not made and had been slept in. The bathroom had dirty towels and vomit on them and the floor. I attempted to contact the property manager and got nothing but a voice mail. I then tried to contact the owner and also get voice mail. I then tried Vrbo and got no help at all. I asked them that if we couldn't get any help how they would provide us with another place to stay. Their reply was you have a place to stay. The property manager finally called after about 2 hours and said he would clean the room. Scott and his fiancé finally arrived around 8:00, 4 hours later) and they cleaned the room. The room is very dated and worn. The bathroom was very small and musty. The next morning we went down stairs to see about getting new towels and other guests told us that they used their towels 2 or 3 times and linen service was minimal. So we went to Wal-Mart and bought our own towels, etc. The ad said to join them at the tiki bar for drinks. However, the tiki bar is BYO and if you want a snack it is also BYO. On the positive side the location is great as its right on the beach and the beach is not very busy at all. Scott, the property manager, told us that he was never informed by the owner that we would be arriving so he didn't know the room needed to be ready. He was as helpful as he could be. As long as you know what you are getting into, then you can make the decision whether to stay here or not. After the initial problems were solved we did enjoy our stay. The wi-fi didn't work in the room and if you wanted it you needed to go to the tiki bar. However, the owner needs to spend some money and clean and update the place.

This was our 4rth year of coming to the Wild Wave. The last 2 have been for the month of February and next year we plan the same. We were a little nervous about having new managers because we really loved Beth and Frank. Jack and Sharon were wonderful! AND I have never seen anyone clean as well as Sharon! We have met wonderful people here and keep in touch. We are really looking forward to returning in 2014. (LuAnn & Randy Steiner-Central Michigan)

After I read your review, I believe we were staying at The Wildwave at the same time. I can not agree with your review. (Labor Day Weekend) The rooms are not the Hilton, Hyatt or the Marriott but they are CLEAN quaint Beach Cottage Motiff. As far as supplies for the room, if you read the Check In/Check Out sheet provided, the Guests are responsible for additional toiletries, dish soap and paper goods. Once again, this is not the Hyatt! As for the Management, you my friend are way off course! Jack and Sharon are not GRUMPY unless given a reason...such as children being allowed to play in the Bath Tub splashing water all over the bathroom (as you discussed sitting outside)! Oh...could that have been the reason for water leaking from the second floor? Jack and Sharon have cooked for us, taken us to stores for necessities and guided us to local attractions. By the way....I was staying there and we would have liked to use the BBQ grill that you and your family monopolized! I believe you all stayed there either Memorial Day or 4th of July when we were there also. Needless to say, it probably is best for those of us, that frequently stay at the Wild Wave, for you not to return.

We had the apartment on the top. Big enough and a nice view on the beach. These are the few positive facts.

The owners were constantly under alcohol influence or not on site, the bed sheets were dirty, we washed them at the coin laundry and thought we can make the best out of it somehow. We also cleaned the apartment on our own. The owners spent the weekend drinking all day at the bar with drunken friends. Good chance for free drinking with decent folks! Watch out for the poop of owners dog!

The second week we discovered termites with and without wings, the building is a health risk, we left and of course no refund for 1,5 weeks overpayment.

If you are drunk all day and don’t care for a clean and safe place to stay - this is your place. Just watch out for empty liquor bottles and glasses on the beach!

Though I have only completed one night of my five-night stay, I am looking into leaving. I arrived a 6pm and could not reach the manager on several numbers I was given. After 30 minutes of standing out front, I messaged the owner that I was going to report this to VRBO as a scam. After another 30 minutes he showed up and told us he would clean a room for us. The room we had contracted for was occupied. I had spent quite some time searching for a place that had just the view I wanted, to sit and enjoy my coffee overlooking the ocean. They put me in a lower level with a big bush in front of the windows. It's basically a bait-and-switch, I would say, as there's no way this room is the same cost as what I rented. And, it's filthy in ways that take deep cleaning (and repairs). Filthy curtains, broken blinds, dripping faucets, and one arm of the couch is pulled off and there are exposed nails. I can only imagine what chewed the holes in the couch. The floor is constantly wet.
I am hoping VRBO refunds my money as I rented Unit 6 and am in Unit 4. And there is definitely a difference. As we are in spring break, I doubt anything else will be available. However, I am old and it's not worth risking my health.
Unfortunately, I only read the reviews on VRBO and most of those were from when there were different owners. I will do what I can to change that!

Let me start off by saying all in all if the 2 night stay wasn't FREE then we wouldn't have stayed!! We recieved a 2 night stay from a reputable hotel in our home town (they used to know the previous owners of the Wild Wave but not the new "management") The beach and the view was wonderful but the whole place needed MAJOR rennovations. The bbq grills were nasty with big chunks of food and in one a big bone with chewed off meat was still left in it. The room was not filthy (the floor was a little sandy but that is to be expected with a beach location and a broom was in the unit) We didn't actually mind the room that much since as I said it wasn't filthy it just was "dated" (trust me I checked the beds completely) The main problem was the people they have running the place. When we first got there the "manager" or I think he was the manager - only one there - kept telling us how tired he was from the night before. Well that night we realized WHY he was so tired - it seemed the place didn't come "alive" until after 3PM - with some people that looked and acted pretty shady - one of those people was another "manager" The 2nd night same thing no one around until after 3PM and then it looked like "what the cat dragged in" and they seemed to be doing some shady dealings!! That night we were awoken at 3 AM no less by someone YELLING for their girlfriend and the so called managers telling him she wasn't there (she was) and that they were calling the cops (never happened) then after that they continued to stay up and "party" I guess until they passed out. The next morning was Thanksgiving and our departure day - it said to bring the key to the office but of course there was NO ONE in the office - as a matter of fact the office door was locked. So I went back up to the room and left the key and we were never so glad to leave somewhere before. We will be back to Ft Myers Beach but just not anywhere near the places that are associated with FLVacations.com - The Gulf Motel, Periwinkle Inn, The Anchor Inn, Surf & Us and the Wild Wave - they are all owned by the same people and I assume the "management" and condition of rooms are the same at those places as well.

*****AVOID AT ALL COSTS****
We have been coming here for 8 years and we are horrified at the condition of this resort.

the rooms are a health hazzard, we have tried for 3 days to contact the new owner TERRY PERSAUD to request a refund but he has not responded.

the rooms smell, the air vents are covered in black mould, the bedding is filthy.
The patio and furniture was covered in bird crap and don't even get me started on the coffee machine.

we tried to pull out the sofa bed and it was covered in cobwebs.

PLEASE.......if you have booked to stay here, don't, it's disgusting request a refund, although you probably won't get it!!!!

We stayed at this place in 2011 and had a good time but the place is a bit run down and too many steps. There are new MANAGERS now and I would NEVER STAY at this place EVER AGAIN! We are Florida residents and trust me on this one. The couple that is managing this place are indecent people. We walked up to talk to them because we were lost on the beach I had stayed there before, our new place was several down from the Wild Wave. Before we even got close the new Manager YELLED AND SWORE AT US. He told us to get the HELL of "his" property and never come back! It was a very upsetting experience as I had almost booked there again. NO one should ever be treated the way that we were. I was told and am sure that it was the new manager and I heard fro the islanders that the wife is just as rude and evil. I feel sorry for the actual owners of the Wild Wave because this place will go down the drain.

We've been going to Wild Wave for years and used to LOVE it - now, we won't be back until something changes. We got sick there when we stayed for 3 days in May 2019 - probably due to mold/mildew in Unit #11. We notified the owner of the property in writing and have not had any response. When we arrived, my husband started sneezing. We thought it might be something blooming nearby. The next day we both had no energy and had sinus headaches. The third day we woke up with migraines and were really lethargic all day. We decided to check out (2 days early) and stay somewhere else. Within 6 hours all our symptoms disappeared and we both felt fine! That's when we realized it must have been something in that unit. We have stayed in that unit before and never had any problems.

Wild Wave was sold late 2018. Jack and Sharon are no longer there. It's under new management and new ownership. Very disappointed in what has happened to Wild Wave Resort. It looks run down. I saw mildew all over the back curtains in Unit #10, right next to ours. The blinds were broken in our unit and the ceiling tile in the bathroom looked black and gross. Something has to be done - we simply can't go back until things change there. I certainly hope the situation improves because it's one of the best places to stay, in my opinion. It's right on the beach, pet friendly with outstanding views. I don't like to leave a negative review, but since I previously had posted a raving review, I thought people should be warned that things have changed recently (2019).

Our time at the wave is about 2 come 2 & end, after coming here for 15 yrs the place has finally started to improve. There were several times we looked 4 a different place & are now so glad we stuck it out. Sharon & Jack u have done wonders with the place, please don't leave and keep up the good work. The owners need to know how much you give the place a personal touch every evening and all day long. This has been a great month thanks, c & c

No pool. The property is directly on the beach, so steps away from beautiful clear blue ocean......sunsets and sunrises are spectacular too, as well as great hospitality and kindness from Jack & Sharon the onsite managers....

You are right on the sand...couldn't be closer. Beautiful location, amazing sunsets. Tiki bar on property, BYOB and very entertaining Manager Jack! Lots of places around, and close to eat etc. publix just up road too for groceries. Loved it there, nearly all direct beachfront rooms/apts, that's what I will get next time, as hope to return soon.

Their phone number is 239-463-8900. The best way to reach them is by phone - if they are not there, leave a message and they'll call you back. Jack & Sharon are the managers of the property. The rates are usually on their website - Trip Advisor doesn't allow links in answers to questions so I can't post it. Just Google "Wild Wave Fort Myers Beach" and you'll find it. In 2015, we paid $165/night during off season. During the season it's more like $275/night, I think.
