We stayed at the Holiday Inn Airport/Cruiseport for 2 nights before our cruise. Our flight arrived mid afternoon and the hotel shuttle was quick to pick us up. Our room was ready, on the 2nd floor, and I was happy to see we were very close to both the pool and breakfast area. The pool area was clean and modern, with bathrooms, towels and they were putting out brand new sunbeds during our stay. My kids spent a lot of time in the pool and were happy with the temperature of it.
Breakfast was very good. Hot and cold options and a coffee area. Plenty of seating and food was being restocked continuously.
The room was clean with comfortable beds, good water pressure in the shower and the air conditioning worked well.
The location was great for those without a vehicle. We walked to BurgerFi, Panera Bread, Walgreens, a grocery store and a nearby bank. There's plenty more around within walking distance. The beach isn't far, I wouldn't walk but an Uber/Lyft wouldn't be much to take there. An Uber to the cruise port on a Saturday morning was $13 including tip. Overall I would recommend and would stay again.

This was just a one night stay before heading down to the Keys. The shuttle and driver were great for transporting us from the airport to the hotel (and back to pick up our rental car). The room was decent for getting a night's sleep and shower. The walls were thin. We did not expect a notable view, but I have to say we were surprised to find our room overlooking the wastewater treatment plant. There was no odor in the air and nothing disgusting in the pools of water, but it was not something we expected. There were two things that were unacceptable and the biggest reasons for the lower star rating. (1) Our room door did not lock when we left the room. You could just push it open. My husband and I both tried to get it to latch. The ladies at the front desk said they notified maintenance, but we had to leave our room fully accessible while we went to the airport to pick up our rental car as it was too much stuff and too little time to take everything back to the airport with us. (2) The elevator is dangerous. Modern elevators will automatically re-open if an object/person is detected when closing. This one will not. Again, we had multiple bags (we each had our inflatable paddle boards) and only one of us could get through before it would begin closing. On the way out of the hotel, I had to quickly jump back into the elevator as I was half way out behind my husband with the door hitting me and my bag. I actually had to ride the elevator up to pick up another passenger and eventually back down.

If I was to base this review on the front desk personnel alone, I would give it only 1 star. The man (he never wore a name tag the whole time we were there, so we didn’t get his name) that checked us in was very cold and said maybe two sentences to us. Obviously this means that check-in was a breeze, but was not welcoming at all. We stayed here two nights and we were in and out several times during that time and most of the time when we walked past the front desk, no one was there. This location needs to remove the free breakfast from this listing. I understand it is free, but it’s more like a snack, than breakfast. Breakfast consisted of a brown bag that included a bottle of water, an apple, a smushed Nutigrain bar and a smushed mini Greek yogurt cake. The bar and cake were smushed because they had been put under the water bottle at the bottom of the bag. There wasn’t even hot coffee. There was cold, day old coffee if you wanted that. You had to pick up breakfast from the front desk, but since the man that checked us in didn’t say much to us, we didn’t know this. We went down to have breakfast and no one at all was around. We waited at the front desk several minutes To find out where breakfast was and no one ever came to help us. We went back upstairs and called the front desk, after several rings the same man that checked us in answered and let us know breakfast was at the front desk. Not good customer service at all. Luckily for this location, the most important things for us is that the location is safe and the room is clean. The hotel and rooms look pretty new, I’m not sure how old this hotel is, but they might have had a renovation recently. Everything in our room was clean which during COVID is even more important. It was also a plus that there isn’t a resort fee or need to pay for parking. The only other issue for me personally is the windows are thin. Our room faced the road and I could hear every car and motorcycle that went by. If you are a light sleeper like me I would suggest you ask for a room facing the pool instead, it would probably be quieter.

Nice room with a comfortable bed. Loved the shower. The room has a microwave, coffee maker, small refrigerator, and iron/board. Breakfast was decent with a limited choice of hot and cold food. The internet was free and worked well.
Our issue was I had booked with Candlewood Suites next door but they had overbooked and put us here. The BIG problem is, I paid for the room in October and as soon as we checked in, my credit card was hit twice for the same amount. One from Candlewood, and one from Holiday Inn. I don’t like paying three times for one night.
I’m still waiting for credits to show up.

The reason I picked this hotel was for its proximity to the port and it’s shuttle service from the airport. I called immediately on arrival and was told the shuttle was on its way, an hour and a half and repeated phone calls to the hotel it finally arrived Other hotels had already done three airport runs. Neither the driver nor the front desk staff were apologetic or helpful, so that’s the last time I will go there and also tell my friends who travel to and from Freeport to book elsewhere.

This is the 2nd time my family has stayed at this hotel prior to leaving on a cruise and once again we were very pleased with our experience. Clean rooms, a nice pool for my daughter to swim in and a nice grocery store across the street for some last-minute snack packing! The free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel is appreciated and we didn't have to wait long to be picked up, and we love that the hotel has a reasonably-priced shuttle service they work with re: getting to/from the cruise ships ~ makes our life easier! In particular, a big shout out to Rickia at the front desk who managed multiple cruise departures with ease using great communication and just enough humor to keep a busy morning moving smoothly. She was very knowledgeable and efficient and really has the cruise thing "down pat." Thank you Rickia and Holiday Inn Express ~ we will be back!

I needed a one night stay before flying out, and this new property was excellent. pickup was a bit strange, since business is slow the minivan was servicing five different hotels, but I arrived all right. return early morning airport shuttle was on time. this is a rather upscale holiday inn express, upgraded furnishings and bathroom compared to most in this category, at a very reasonable price. the limited interaction with staff was fine, efficient. as others have mentioned, not too much in terms of restaurants and services nearby, but I didn't need any. I would certainly recommend this hotel for a stopover near the airport.

Across the street from the Southland Shopping Center on State Road 84, this is a good option for those taking cruises and either arriving a night early or not immediately dashing to the airport after disembarking. They offer free airport shuttle, free breakfast, and fee-based transfer to the various cruise terminals.
Be sure to reference 'State Road 84' when you look for airport shuttles, as there are at least 3 different Holiday Inn Express FLL Airport hotels - each with their own separate shuttle.

First the good: Room was spacious & mostly clean. Beds comfy. Pool gorgeous. Staff friendly.
Now the not so good: The towels in the bathroom had very long and very tangled black hairs all through them. Kind of stuck in the terry cloth. Had to pull lots of them off. Ick. Otherwise the hotel would have gotten a high mark for cleanliness. Now. The breakfast. Do NOT expect any COVID-19 protocols being followed here. Absolutely NONE. Packed room - elbow to elbow. Everybody touching everything. Nothing being wiped off. The breakfast was not a bad breakfast but with the rates so high in Florida, we hoped for better sanitation and maybe a different way to serve.
Also I was told in the messaging on Bookings that the shuttle from cruise port to hotel would be less than $11 per person. It was $15. That was annoying. The shuttle from hotel to airport is free however.

Following our cruise we decided to stay at Holiday inn Express Hotel & Suites Ft. Lauderdale. We arrived around 11 a.m. and were informed that rooms aren't normally available until 3 p.m. But, they would do all they could to get us into our rooms as quickly as possible (there were about 32 people waiting for a room). We ran over to one of the nearby restaurants and got back to the hotel around noon. Carlos did everything he could for those waiting for rooms, and around 1:20 p.m. we were able to get one. The hotel is well situated, well maintained, and the room was wonderful. The hotel has an outdoor pool, and free breakfast with something to suit almost everyone's taste. Our only regret was that we stayed at a different hotel the night before our cruise...I only wish we had stayed here instead. Thanks to all the wonderful staff at this hotel.

It looks like nice area. It is on a busy 6 lane street. There is a strip shopping center across the street that has a Wendy's, bars, etc.
