We’ve been coming here over 10 years (missed a few because of Covid restrictions by the Florida Gov). Seems that this once secluded resort is now a popular destination and the new owners have made a few changes that were treasured. However, the remaining perks (free chairs/towels, happy hour, adults only) are worth it. Although the Henderson Resort across the street has encroached on the beach, Park Inn customers do have access to the Resort amenities so it’s a trade off. Of course, Destin sand and water are what truly make this place special and worth coming back. The Inn has excellent staff (Blake doing beach service, Robert bartending) and everything is clean. Our mattress (room 304) was very firm which, for us, wasn’t great but the room has a great view with a small balcony for drinking the complimentary wine. Getting to make s’mores in the fire pit was another treat. While I wish they would bring back the free breakfast buffet (with mimosas and Bloody Mary’s) and that quaintness of 10+ years ago was still present, we will always come back to the HP Inn.

We stayed for three nights for my wife's 40th birthday after COVID sidelined potential international travel for her big birthday. She found HPI searching on the internet and to us it was a hidden gem for us as we'd never heard of it. HPI had excellent protocols in place for COVID with all staff members wearing masks, hand sanitizer all over the property and social distancing in common areas and the restaurant. We loved being right on the beach but also having access to the amenities of the Henderson resort right across the street. We enjoyed the all-inclusive parts of breakfast, lunch and happy hour and had a great dinner at the Beach Walk Cafe on property. I would've liked to have a hotel bar accessible with possible beach service and a pool on property would've been ideal, but overall it was a fantastic stay.

This was our first stay here and it was for our 42nd anniversary. We wish we had found this place earlier and hope to make it a yearly anniversary tradition. It's pricey but worth it for a special occasion. They gave us so much food for breakfast and lunch that 2 of our nights there we didn't even eat dinner because we were still full. We brought wine from home but never even opened it because there was a bottle in the room when we arrived and complimentary wine every afternoon at the happy hour. My husband loved the complimentary snacks and ate a steady supply of M&M's. He also gained 6 pounds in the 4 days we were there! Breakfast was amazing and make sure you ask for Quinn to be your server. She was a blast. The room and the view were awesome. We had an executive suite in the east building. I'm glad we chose a room over there because it was very private and quiet. We took long walks on the beautiful beach and also enjoyed the heated lazy river pool and the hot tub at the sister resort across the street. You will not regret staying here!!!

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. Everyone was very attentive and friendly whenever you asked them any questions or needed something. Breakfast and lunch meals were decent and happy hour was awesome to have. The beach always had staff available to set up chairs and umbrellas for you along with any water, sodas, or snacks you wanted. The beach wasn't crowded and the resort was typically peaceful and quiet. The rooms we stayed in were very clean, they had enough towels, and they even had wine and a snack upon arrival in the rooms along with roses. The location was also perfect since it was right on the beach and it was very close to other restaurants and shops if you wanted to go somewhere else to eat. When you stay here you also have access to the resort across that has a pool/lazy river, bar, restaurants, and spa. We weren't able to enjoy all the amenities since they had so much to offer, but we highly recommend this place and look forward to staying here in the future.

Just recently returned, like yesterday, from another wonderful stay at Henderson Park Inn. This place is always very consistent and wonderful. We love the breakfast, lunch, location, happy hour, but mostly the folks that work there and care about doing a good job is what makes it wonderful. This was our third visit and wife and I agreed that we would start making this a bi-annual trip based upon birthdays or anniversaries. Now the sad news, when reading one of the brochures in our room (we stayed in the Serenity Suite “loved it”), we saw a section that was titled “Future Expectations” or something like that. It seems the Henderson Beach Resort, after completing the next phase of expansion are planning on razing our beloved Henderson Park Inn and further expanding their foothold to include the beach. We were very saddened by this and hope it does not come to pass. We like that it is adult only, very near all-inclusive, and we like the quaintness of the accommodations. We can go stay in a brand new hotel somewhere else, but we can not get the level of attentiveness and this experience anywhere else. Leave the inn alone, please!!!

The expansion mentioned in the brochure in your room was about Parkside, a new part of the Henderson Beach Resort that's being built on the north side. Owners of the condos built in Parkside will have access to The Henderson's side of the beach, but Henderson Park Inn will remain as is. So, you have no need to worry. I can confirm all of the accolades lavished by other reviewers. I'm not going to repeat everything that has already been said but I would like to point out a few things.
First: what I particularly enjoyed:
1) Location. The property abuts a beachfront park, so the experience is about as peaceful as one gets in Destin. The beach is gorgeous and it's nice to have loungers and an umbrella available.
2) Adults only delivers an added level of tranquility.
3) Our visit was in the latter half of October and night temperatures dropped enough that it was a special treat to open the French doors of the balcony to the Gulf air (and sounds) while we slept. Not a single insect flew into the room to disturb our slumber. Don't forget to switch off the A/C!
4) The consistent friendliness and attentiveness of all staff.
5) Overall attention to detail. Just about everything that we wanted was provided for. Examples include a really nice shower, recharging station, sanitizer everywhere (thank you COVID), ample lighting / seating in the room, early morning coffee and (as everybody mentions) a terrific breakfast.
Second: the less than perfect
1) Balcony shade. I missed a sun umbrella on the balcony because it's just so pleasant to sit there and enjoy the view. A back cushion (in addition to the seat cushion) on the chairs would reduce the discomfort we started feeling after about 30 minutes.
2) Insufficient shaded seating in common areas. This was especially apparent during happy hour when everybody was forced to congregate in the small shaded area surrounding the Tiki hut. There was ample seating on the deck around the hut but absolutely no shade, partially because an awning had been removed for the hurricane three weeks previously. I understand that it is an inconvenience to take down an awning and then put it back up again, but an establishment that focuses upon customer comfort should have had the awning back in place after about a week.
3) Lack of pen / paper in our room. A nit, I know, but nonetheless inconvenient when I needed it.

As for the lack of seating and notepad, we did reduce the number of common area seating locations and items in the rooms due to COVID, but we've been having meetings lately to discuss a slow return to our former standard operations. We just had a long weekend stay at the Henderson Park Inn to celebrate a very special anniversary. Our last visit to the inn was about 10 years ago.
Every meal we had was delicious and even better than I remember from our first visit. The inn’s breakfasts are yummy and varied; we tried a different offering each day. The orange mini muffins were the best I’ve ever eaten. The picnic lunches were a cut above, particularly the charcuterie plate. We had dinner at the café one evening and it was good, but very pricey ($52 for a bowl of seafood pasta). The wait staff at breakfast, Qwinn and Nikki, were great.
The inn has refreshed its décor and looks nicer and more modern.
The reception desk personnel were the best. Emily and Mary were so kind and helpful and made us feel at home.
One of the things we enjoyed most about our first stay was the tranquility afforded by an adults-only inn with a private beach. Unfortunately, A large hotel (170 rooms plus 2 wings currently under construction) now shares the beachfront with the inn. The beach chairs for the hotel are set up directly below the inn’s main building and noise from the crowds wafts upward. There were screaming kids at 8:30am Saturday. We had hoped to relax and read on our balcony facing the gulf, but it wasn’t pleasant to sit there until the families left the beach in late afternoon. The atmosphere around the inn is quite different now and we were disappointed.

We certainly appreciate the acknowledgments of our superior services and quality, the Inn continues to improve each year leveraging from many prior great years and improving as we go. Our sister hotel, The Henderson has been open for almost 4 years and yes, a portion of the beach is dedicated to that facility. However, we do ensure that no kids are on the HPI half of the beach and we ensure that the family side is not a noise issue past 5 pm. The Inn still has the same great views, same awesome staff, and the same peace and quiet except for the mid-day times when kids on The Henderson side tend to be louder. It looks like you did visit The Henderson during your stay with us and maybe used the Resort facilities there which are now available to HPI guests, a world-class Spa, Lazy River and heated Resort Pool. We're very sorry you didnt find it to be as peaceful as it was 10 years ago, but hope you enjoyed the great service and improved facilites.

This was our third, and likely last time at The Henderson. We can no longer justify paying over $700 a night to have amenities continue to be taken away. The first time we came free airport transportation, breakfast, and a boxed lunch from an ares restaurant were included in the price. The second time we visited airport transportation was no longer included and this, the third and final time breakfast and lunch were no longer included. This time, because we booked prior to breakfast and lunch being taken away as an amenity we did receive $100 a day credit which could be used at either Henderson location on food and alcohol. Be clear that this only happened because we booked prior to it being taken away. Contrary to what other reviewers have said, this is NOT standard going forward. You will NOT receive this credit if you booked after the change. This is so disappointing. The charge for the room is outrageous but we didn't mind paying it with all the amenities - well worth the price had everything had been included. I can't help but wonder how much breakfast and lunch actually cost - not the inflated prices that are charged - but real prices. I find it hard to believe that it costs too too much to provide a simple breakfast and sandwich lunch. What are you going to take away next Henderson? The beach chairs? That's the last remaining amenity of value.
Also this trip there were children that made their way on the private beach. While we like children, we trusted that adults only meant adults only.
On the positive Blake, the beach attendant is incredible. He is nice young man and very hard worker. His service was excellent.

Wonderful staff, facility and amenities at Henderson Park Inn. Room was professionally decorated with a welcome tray of red roses, Choclate covered strawberries and a bottle of wine. The view is second to none! This was our 3rd visit to Henderson Park Inn and it gets better every time. The breakfast was outstanding with 2 incredible cook, Chef Greg and Chef Al. Everyone made us feel so welcome and comfortable. This resort was nicer than any we have visited on the islands. We definitely will return every year. And did I say it was very romantic?

Correct, breakfast lunch no longer included in room rate. Still excellent breakfast and larger selection for lunch. No other significant recent changes- still great staff and gulf view.
Request a room in the East Building. It is newer.
No resort fee that I am aware of. The beach chairs are part of you room cost.
I expect you will have to call the hotel to get this information on the specific room type you’re considering. For what it’s worth, we stayed in an Executive Suite and it was spacious - more so than you can tell from the pictures on the website.
