We stayed in the condo side of the Christiania in a 2 bedroom suite (#110) which we booked via ski.com. Although this unit can sleep 8 people, we had 5 which was perfect. There is only seating for 5 in the living and dining areas. The woodburning fireplace is fabulous, especially on the cold nights when the heating system was struggling. The kitchen is adequate but we did have to buy a wine opener and can opener. Master bedroom king bed was quite comfortable but are teenagers complained about the hard mattresses in the 2nd bedroom.
The best part of this place is the location. You are mere steps to Gondola #1 and it was ski-in from the slopes in the afternoon. Ski and boot storage is super convenient ... right out the door to the slopes. In the lodge, they have free coffee/hot chocolate/hot cider available 7:30am - 10pm in the lounge where they also offer a continental breakfast in the morning for $10/person. There is a huge hot tub overlooking the slopes and also free passes to the Vail Athletic Club (5 minute walk) which is top of the line for any fitness buffs or spa lovers. One bad part is the laundry ... there is a single washer/dryer located across the street in another condo building. $5 per load to wash/dry. Overall, this was a quiet place and a fabulous location. The staff was all very friendly and helpful.

This condo is right in the heart of everything!! Great location especially for teens. Unfortunately, neither of the air conditioning units worked when we arrived, and the property management said they couldn’t get anyone in to fix them during the duration of our week long stay. It got very hot during the day and evenings!! The dishwasher was broken, but they fixed it right away. Couches and kitchen could use some updating, but the beds were very comfortable. House keeping was great and the laundry facility was a plus! We would stay again but be prepared to be warm!!

My family has been staying at the Christiania for many years, and I am always nervous that what the lodge offers will have eroded. Thankfully that has not been the case. This year we rented two condos at the adjacent Villa Valhalla, as well as a room in the lodge itself. All were very comfortable and well maintained. The location right by central Vail Village is ideal, and a stop for the bus to Lionshead or the gold course is close by. The desk staff has consistently been exceptionally helpful.

Hotel is located in a wonderful location. Overall facilities were kept clean (although outdated we didn't find an issue with cleanliness). That said we booked a 3 bedroom condo (4 adults, 2 kids ages 6 and 9), one of the rooms was completely unusable due its placement relative to the main level. It was right above a pizza restaurant (which we came to a quick realization the moment we walked in and the entire place smelled like a pizza had just been baked). At first, we thought they prior renters had just checked out and assumed that wasn't so much of an issue. We dropped our luggage and upon our return the place still smelled and foyer floor was very warm, but worse than that the room by it was HOT. Due to the location of this, the ONLY double room (right above the oven of said restaurant) it rendered the room completely unusable given how hot it was. We "gave it chance" by opening the windows at night, turning on EVERY fan, but still, the thermostat didn't go below 83 degrees. By midnight we checked again, it was still 81 degrees (fans on and windows and double doors wide open) I'm sure this would be completely fine during the winter months but unfortunately, we paid for a 3 bedroom and were able to use two, neither one with a double bed. Luckily they had enough spare comforters and fans so we made a makeshift floor bed in the living room area. Having to have all the windows blasted open you could hear all the commotion and partying fro Vail village. This would definitely be an issue for a family with babies or those that have a hard time sleeping as not opening is the windows is not an option for this unit. Luckily it dies down a bit after 11-11:30 pm or so. In our case, the 8 fans we had running muted the outdoor noise a bit. Due to the limited availability of the front guest staff (not necessarily an issue) we were able to connect to the maintenance person who was very prompt and kind to bring us more fans and told us he'd leave a message for the front desk staff. They never reached out to us about the issue. We never received a call or follow up. Lastly, the other issue was the wifi. It wasn't connected to the network the entire time we were there so we were not able to use it on any of our devices, but again, don't advertise a service that doesn't work. Again, we thought it was a "1st night issue" but unfortunately it never got to work during our stay. That all said, this condo was located in an accessible location, we loved that part of it. We found the pool area enjoyable and the facilities clean and quaint. We'd like to give this nice resort another chance, maybe we end up with a better room or at least get what we pay for but unless we're guaranteed a better-located room we may have to go with another choice, unfortunately.

Dear A2448JMandreas, Thank you for your review and we are sorry your accommodations were not up to your expectations. It looks like you stayed at the Plaza Lodge, which enjoys one of the best locations in Vail, a stone's throw away from Gondola One. However, it is above Vendettas restaurant. We would love to have your business again and manage over 50 vacation rentals in the village, I'm sure we can find the right one for you. Thank you, The Christiania at Vail

Condo had plenty of space, but the conditions were awful and unhygienic. Elevator was smelly. Carpet could use replacement or good cleaning. We put one of those bacteria lights around the room. Quite scary and the floor was the worst. Room carpet was old and smelly and we could see it. No dusting done in a long time. One lamp had a thick coat of greasy dust😖. One of the bathrooms had a smell. Felt like most of condo had not been updated since the 70s. Lighting throughout was very poor. Kitchen had been updated and was nice. Didn’t trust the hygiene there though. Let them know about the a gas smell in hall and their solution was to air out by leaving side door open. Also fireplace structure was broken and dangerous.
The location was so great, out the front door and a few steps and you are in the middle of everything. Everything is walkable, plus there is a free bus stop nearby, if you want. The transportation center is also very close, where you can catch buses to other locations too. Trails, amphitheater, river, ski lifts and gondola are steps away. Really don’t need a car, although when I checked in with a car they never explained the parking situation at all. When I asked the next day the gentleman at desk explained and was quite nice. Best thing about this place is the location.

Prior to booking this room, we were not advised that there is an outdoor restaurant patio directly beneath the room. This patio was complete with outdoor speakers which played loud music from noon until 11pm each day/night. Views from this party patio extended into our room and views from the main Vail gondola also extended into our room. If you desire acoustic or visual privacy then do not book room 308 at the Christiana Bridge Street Studios. The finishes of the room were run down, dirty and there was mold and mildew in the bathroom. This did not match the updated finishes shown on the hotel website. I feel we were deceived as to the sound and privacy issues and finishes. The front desk was supposed to open at 7 but nobody bothered to show up until7:30. Total disappointment.

we have stayed at christiania many times and have always been happy with the staff and amenities provided however this time the complimentary breakfast had been replaced with an ala cart service and the prices were quite high for coffee and meals. no one was available in the ski locker room to assist . Debra Poole was friendly and helpful as always and the maintenance and housekeeping staff were nice and accomodating to requests for additional water and coffee pods for the room. i am hoping that once this covid restrictions are over that it returns to the same venue we have always enjoyed and will return to.

It can´t get any closer to the mountain! The room was super clean. There were plenty of towels just for one person. I asked for a vending machine to buy some water and the receptionist handed me two bottles. The rooms are charming old mountain style, the building was obviously one of the first built in Vail so you might experience some noice from your upstairs neighbor, but I can deal with that if everything else is so perfect. I also left a jacket and called and even though they had not received it from the cleaning crew, the lady on the phone went personally to look for it to the room and are holding it for me. Thank you!!

The location and friendliness of the staff is unbeatable. I have stayed at the Christiana lodge several times and always looked forward to going back. My room was charming, comfortable and clean. For adult skiing and the children’s ski school, the location is perfect. All parts of the village are walkable, and the restaurants and shops are easily accessible. I can’t wait to return.

We stayed for three nights and the service was always friendly and helpful. We didn’t ask for a suite but that is what we got: a master bedroom and bath and a second smaller bedroom with a sleep sofa, large closet and powder room. There was more than ample closet and drawer space. The shower worked perfectly. The master bathroom was adequate but would have benefited from more room for toiletries. The bed in the master was a queen and not a king. I regret to say that the Christiana, one of the earliest Vail lodges, could use a top to bottom renovation. Its Bavarian look may have been quaint in the 1970s. It is dated and drab today. New carpeting, furniture and more light are in order. The Christiana could also use a bellman and a coffee shop on premises.

That may be too close for a full refund but if you ask to change the booking to a later date, they might accommodate you with no loss on your part. Either way, call the front desk directly and ask. Good luck!

When we went in July, they would charge for their adjacent parking, but they also mentioned that the Vail Parking garage was free - and nearby (~2 blocks). We parked in the Vail parking garage - and would do it again.
