We were driving so found this hotel easily and liked that it was close to the beach and Carlsbad Village.
The property had a lovely entry and the staff were welcoming.
Our room was perfect, quiet, and clean. Unfortunately WIFI in the room was inconsistent.
We appreciated the fact that breakfast was provided, there was a comfortable library with good WIFI, and they even set out cookies and milk in the evening.
An added bonus was a clean area with washer and dryer.
The property had a lovely entry and the staff were welcoming.

I totally disagree with the lady who says her stay was horrible because of a hidden fee. First off it was obviously there for everyone to READ. Second your stay should be more about how comfortable the beds are, how clean the rooms are and the overall customer service. West Inn and Suites hit all three marks for me. Not to mention they have a wine hour and a cookie hour along with a gorgeous and appetizing spread of fresh fruit and food for breakfast. Those $20 should be the least of any ones worries when you already paid $100 for your stay. If your gonna complain about $20 out of the whole stay maybe a Motel 6 would be more accommodating. Anyways, Best hotel ever! I loved it ❤️ Also thank you to the front office manager Eddie who was so helpful through me and my husband’s stay we really appreciate it!

My family of 6 stayed at the West Inn because they offered free shuttle service to Legoland and breakfast in the morning. We were so delighted by the accommodations and staff. Bertha was particularly wonderful. She was extremely hard working, helpful and full of joy every morning. Thank you!

The exterior and lobby are lovely. The restaurant is closed. We booked a king suite and when we arrived the room was dark and dated. In my opinion, the room smelled faintly of urine. The television didn’t work initially and someone had to come to fix it-they did so promptly. There was peeling paint and crooked appliances. As we attempted to pull out the sofa it got stuck, when my spouse attempted again from another angle he walked around the couch where he was impaled with a large shard of glass and immediately began bleeding everywhere. It wasn’t our glass, it had been there before and there were several more pieces around the carpet. We made the front desk aware and they sent someone up to vacuum. The staff found more glass, just sitting there on the carpet. It’s just luck that my spouse stepped on it and not one of our kids. The front desk informed us that they made management (perhaps ownership) aware. The next day we left early for a day at Legoland-the hotel is very close to the park, it’s a great location relative to Legoland. After a long day, one that was quite painful for my spouse who was walking around on a bleeding puncture wound), we returned to the hotel around 6pm to a room that had not been serviced at all. We needed towels (the glass incident rendered some unusable) and soap and garbage removal but housekeeping hadn’t come. When we called down there were several rooms still ahead of us. It was frustrating after a long day when we just wanted to rest.
I will note that the West Inn made some amends for the incident with the glass. While appreciated, it still should never have happened (it’s a family friendly hotel and there was a dangerous situation in the room). I wouldn’t stay here again.

When I first saw the listing of this hotel online, I thought what a great deal for a hotel of this caliber and with great reviews. As usual, it was too good to be true. You really have to question what hotels are thinking about when you get a price online and then they hit you with hidden fees when you show up at the hotel. The price for this hotel was around $100 online. When I get to the hotel They charge you a mandatory $20 “amenity fee” where they force you to pay for breakfast that you don’t want and apparently to use the pool, even if you don’t. This increased the online advertised amount by 20%. Afterward, I went back to the website where I reserved this accommodation and sure enough buried at the bottom of the page nowhere near the online advertisement price this hidden fee was listed in the fine print. I can only imagine that this hotel is raking in dollars thousands of Dollars from unsuspecting guests with this fee when they show up for accommodations. Engaging in such deceitful business practices to pad the online represented fee is unacceptable and rates no more than one star.

The morning after our first night's stay, I got up to make coffee and noticed that one of the packets with sugar, powdered cream and stirrers was already opened and the stirrers were missing. In any other year, this would be an inconvenience at the least but, these days, it was very concerning. If housekeeping had missed this, what else hadn't they picked up, exchanged or cleaned?
I took the opened packet to the front desk and explained the situation to the lady working there. She took down my room number and my phone number and said someone would be calling me. Nobody ever did.
A few days after we checked out I received an email from the West Inn with a survey. I took the survey and, again, explained what had happened with hopes that the company would take more time to more thoroughly clean the rooms between guests. Did they read my survey? Was anything done? I don't know. No one has reached out. I sure hope something has changed.

A middle price range hotel nested in a very popular vacation location but really have nothing special to come for. Staff were polite but not helpful, rooms were neat but because of shortage of staffs they don't offer daily room cleaning. Swimming pool was small & unattractive. Breakfast is down to minimal with stale bread & poor selections of fruits & hot dishes

My adult family and I had a relaxing, lovely stay because the pretty inn has homey touches like warm cookies and a kind reception staff. Daisy Zorita welcomed us, gave us good advice on local doings and Legoland, assigned us a quiet room, and was fun to talk to! The room was tastefully appointed as was the rest of the inn, and the free breakfast had a variety of good options including hot oatmeal and a waffle maker.

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was very clean. Both the room, bathroom and hotel grounds outside were very clean. Cleanliness of the rooms and property are always very important to me when we go on a trip and stay somewhere. Nothing worse than sleeping in a dirty room and showering in a dirty bathroom. We all slept very well both nights. Beds were comfortable. The towels and bedding smelled fresh and clean. The front desk staff was very friendly. All staff that we saw smiled and greeted us. They let us use their beach chairs and boogie boards free of charge. So nice! We would stay here again if in the area and not able to stay right on the beach. It would have been nicer if restaurant was open and they had the breakfast. Understandable why it wasn’t open due to COVID but hopefully they can open soon in future. Would be so great to have a nice dinner right on the property and walk to room. The breakfast area looked so nice. The pool was nice and they had a ping pong table by the pool which our family of four really enjoyed. Oh, they had really cute Halloween decorations up! Would not hesitate to stay here again! I hope it’s just as clean and nice next time we visit Carlsbad!
