We've stayed at a few cabins, riverfront houses and motels in Wasaga Beach over the years, but Woodland Hideaway is better than all the rest in my opinion. The property is very well kept, and our cabin was spotless when we arrived (we stayed in #3, the largest cabin w/ a good sized deck). The BBQ was clean and worked perfect. Joe was very welcoming upon our arrival, and attentive throughout our stay on the May 2-4 weekend. The cabins are exactly as described on the website - excellent water pressure in the bathroom shower, comfortable beds, full kitchen, utensils included, bring your own bed linens/towels etc. Less than a 5 minute walk to beach 5 (a really nice beach if you haven't been down this end of Wasaga). We had our dog stay with us and made it to beach 3 (the temporary dog beach) in about 20-25 minutes at a leisurely walking pace along the trails and side roads. Overall, a great experience and close to everything you might need (e.g.: Tim Hortons, M & M's meat shop, McDonald's, convenience stores etc less than a 5-minute walk away). Also, the neighbourhood is far enough away from Beach #1 that it isn't all young, party goers; it was nice to see a mix of families, young people, couples, residents, people of all ages, etc. You can't ask for much more unless you really want to be near the main beach... Not this time for us... And next time we're in Wasaga we will definitely be returning to Woodland Hideaway!! A great little place.

Joe and Flora were the perfect hosts. They even set up a bonfire and marshmallows for the kids. The house was a little small but was just enough for us and it was very clean. The only lacking was internet connection but it was also a good thing since we get to bond with the family more without using our electronic gadgets which was the real point of going on vacations. But if you do need to check your emails, McDonalds is close with their free wifi. Thank you so much for a great vacation!

My family and I tried staying at Joe and Flora's Woodland Hideaway last year after some internet browsing. We didn't know what to expect, but we all liked Joe and Flora and their cottage so much that we decided to return this summer -- it was not difficult to decide at all. They were so professional and yet friendly. Their immaculate property had everything we needed, both inside and outside the cottage. The location was ideal: close to the beach and everywhere else yet so quiet and peaceful. (Waking up in the morning was wonderful.) Our time there was great. Our only regret was not being able to stay there longer.

I had a very sad experience with this business just recently. I never got to meet them, just spoke on the phone. The owners live in a big, recently built house, and are renting out two small older cabins on the same property. In April of this year I booked with them for two weeks in July, and paid 50% of the total rental fee, by e-transfer at the time of booking, they call it a “booking fee”. It’s non-refundable, if cancelled less then 30 days before arrival, by the agreement they send you. Then, the remaining 50% was required to be paid a day before arrival. I made a huge mistake by sending them the final 50% by e-transfer a week before my arrival. And, just 3 days later, I broke my leg, and underwent surgery, and was unable to come! A witness of my bad accident actually came to them soon after my accident to put in a good word for me. No use. They kept 100% of the rent, close to $2400. They did not refund even the smallest fracture of it. A small refund would be a sign of a good customer service, and a try to keep my business in the future. But, these people did not care about my experience with them, at all. Whatever you do, do not pay these folks, until you are there…

My husband and I, along with our 2 year old son booked 1 week in a 2 bedroom unit at Woodland Hideaway in July 2006. Based on internet photos and what I could remember from having been in the area the previous year, it seemed like a safe bet.

Well, what wonderful surprise! The cottages are spotless and meticulously maintained. Every effort has been made to stock the kitchens with commonly used items making packing for the cottage a breeze. The deck/barbeque areas for each unit are spacious. The grounds are landscaped and have grass so that you are not living in sand all week.

The owners, Joe and Flora are lovely and make every effort to make your family feel welcome. As soon as we arrived with our son, Joe immediately hooked up the toddler swing in the playground aarea which my son enjoyed all week long. The badminton court and hammock were also hits with the family.

If you are looking for a rowdy, party all night beach holiday, this is not the place for you. It is quite after 8pm and lights are out by 11:00pm. But, if you are looking for a clean, comfortable, family beach holiday this is the place for you.

Note: You are 3 blocks from the beach so if walking to the beach saddled down with kids/toys/umbrellas is not for you, maybe find somewhere closer. However, if you grin and bear it and chalk it up to exercise to combat those chips on the beach you will be fine!

My boyfriend and I were having doubts on how this cottage would look like but I kept my fingers crossed. I was blown away when I saw the cottage. Twas neat, well-organized, fully furnished and has a nice, calm environment. Joe and Flora were so nice to us (Dint get to meet flora but she actually made our impromptu trip worth it). Thanks so much guys and I hope to stay in your cottage again.

We have stayed here twice now and love every minute of it. The owners Joe and Flora are wonderful people who keep their resort in pristine shape. We stayed in cottage #5 this past weekend and love the quiet and privacy. It is one of two stand alone cottages on the property. It is such a short walk (less than 5 mins) to the beach area 4 and there is a park one block away as well. The cottage is equipped with everything you will need and they also allow us to bring our small dog. I cannot say enough good things about the resort so you will have to check it out for yourselves.

I would absolutely recommend Woodland Hideaway for your beach vacation in Wasaga. The property and rooms are immaculate and maintained with obvious love and pride of ownership. I have stayed here three times, and each time I have had a fantastic experience. Just steps from Beach Area 5, it is a fantastic location where you are a little ways from the busy Beach Strip, so you have a quiet, cottage experience. Flora and Joe are amazing hosts, providing everything you need from kitchen supplies to clean bedding, and even hosting bon fires on site for their guests. Weather you are a family with children, a couple, or a small group of friends, Woodland Hideaway is a gem that will keep you coming back, year after year. And you will be greeted with a smile and a warm welcome each time!

I would highly highly recommend Woodland Hideaway for a great quiet getaway.
This is not a party place and is better suited for a quiet vacation/family. So its a small 'resort' (not sure if you would call it that) but it has 2 little cabins with 1 bedroom, kitchen, private bath & futon. Each room or cabin has their own have little patio, chairs, table/chairs and their own BBQ. They have taken great lengths to ensure each room has its own privacy.

The gardens and rooms/cabins are meticulously maintained. Everything is amazingly clean and welll cared for. All rooms look onto a sandy volleyball court and 2 swings (a big hit for our kids)

A 4-5 minute walk down the street to a quiet beach - very shallow so kids can play for feet. You can drive to the party/main beach in 10 mins which. But the quieter beach was really awesome for the kids and there is a huge park for kids/picnic area etc. Also, very convenient - you can have pizza delivered to your cabin and grocery store is walmart - about 10 mins away.

Highly recommend.

We stayed with Joe and Flora last Labour Day weekend and couldn't have asked for anything more. It was truely relaxing for our little family (myself, husband, daughter and dog).

The location is so relazing; trees all around, a quiet street, beautiful layout both inside and out, and wonderful people.

We stayed in Unit 1 which had 2 bedrooms plus a futon in the living area. What we were really impressed with was how clean and efficiently layed out everything was. We had everything we needed and more.

The front patio area was great and more than we could have ever expected. We had our own space because each unit's patio is separated by a small fench which gave us a little privacy but which was still open enough that you could talk to your neighbours. We also had our own BBQ, picnic table AND 2 chairs and a little table. Talk about anticipating guests' needs!

Our daughter spent hours playing badminton with the neighbours' kids, and they were regulars by the way, spend every Labour Day weekend with Woodland Hideaway for at least the last 5 years.

We look forward to making Woodland Hideaway our regular vacation spot too :)
