Tobacco Caye Paradise Cabins is a small Belizean-own lodge with six private "over the water" beach cabanas. All cabanas face north to the Belize Barrier Reef and have wonderful decks perched over turquoise tropical waters. Each deck has a hammock and an amazing view of the Caribbean Sea. We also offer Budget accommodation for those backpacking around the world. Accommodations are clean, comfortable and charmingly rustic. Cabanas have private bathrooms and rainwater-fed showers. While there is no electric or water utilities on the island, however, we collect our own rainwater and generate our own electricity from solar and generator (when necessary) power. We have wi-fi access on the island, as well. Delicious meals are available in the dining hall, where you can dine with fellow travelers and share the day's adventures.

I visited Tobacco in February 2021 and had the time of my life. Tobacco Caye Paradise is a little resort in the Stann Creek district which is half hour by boat, a nice ride at that. The cabanas are half pertruding into the sea and half on the beach, there is no need for AC and surprisingly there are no mosquitos on the island. The cabanas are clean use rain water for flushing and bathing and if you like keeping the environment healthy the use of solar electricity is used in the entire resort.
The staff is friendly and courteous and relaxation and peace of mind is best so evident that its difficult to describe. Our package included the hotel rooms and three meals so if you are the type of traveller who loves sand, sea and sun then check out Tobacco Caye Paradise for your stress free vacation. Did I mention the caye is actually a part of the Great Barrier Reef!

I stayed for three nights with Paradise and I had the little green cabana right at the edge of the sea. I loved my stay- I traveled solo and even before I arrived Paradise was very communicative and let me know I could change my accommodation when an opening came up. I greatly appreciated their flexibility and communication. When I arrived, Antonio went through all the information I needed for my stay- about meals, power, resources... he and Juan were very helpful and friendly. During my stay it rained with gusting wind and they were quick to put down (and then later up) a tarp on the side of the cabin to keep me dry and provide me with an extra blanket. They do a "family style" buffet for all meals, and as a solo traveler, I loved having this time to get to know the staff and other guests. I found the small island clean and quiet and loved seeing the stingrays off the open water porch on my cabin. I'd love to come back!

Everyone was very accommodating and always smiling. The food was delicious and flexible if you have diet restrictions. They use filtered rain water on the island, which was a huge relief for those who have had intestinal issues from other countries' water supply. The shacks are cozy with amazing views from the porch. There are working toilets and showers in each. There are 2 bars on the island that accept USD and Belizean as well as CC. These were some of the best drinks that I've ever had. Kirk is the man.

The ocean is stunning with the reef in your backyard and water temps felt like 80 degrees in May. Tons of snorkeling opportunities! My wife and I had the best time here and will definitely be going back. Thank you everyone for your wonderful hospitality and for sharing your island dream with us!

We spent one night at Tobacco Caye Paradise on our way back from a 4 day trip to Glovers Reef with Island Expeditions. Glovers Reef was the first stop of our trip and set the bar incredibly high. We were dropped of at Tobacco Caye while the rest of our group returned to Dangriga. We didn't book our Tobacco accommodations far enough in advance to get a cabana, so we got one of the guestrooms instead. In hindsight we wish we just passed on Tobacco Caye altogether. The guestroom was comparable to a hostel room, which wasn't what we had in mind for a night on our honeymoon. The caye itself also seemed crowded and littered with trash, which seems to be a common issue down there. We rented a kayak and paddled around, but didn't snorkel. We got spoiled with both of those activities on Glovers Reef and weren't that excited about what Tobacco had to offer.

We will say that Doreen was very friendly and fantastic with helping us get situated. She and the cook were very helpful with accommodating special food needs and we thought the food was great!

What can I say about Tobacco Caye Paradise except that it was 6 of the best days I've ever had on vacation.
The island is tiny, so small you can walk the length of it in under 3 minutes, so there isn't much for accommodation but from what I say, Tobacco Caye Paradise is the nicest. The over water bungalows are comfortable and have a fantastic view of the lagoon inside the reef. The outdoor area is private from the rest of the island with lots of hammocks shaded by coconut palms. The main building is where we enjoyed communal dinners. The meal plan is compulsory but provides a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner and to be honest, it was so nice to not worry about where or what you were going to eat.
The communal dinners, while maybe not for everyone, provided us a great way to meet other travelers. We've stayed in touch with a few of the other guests and it was fun to be social for a week after traveling exclusively as a couple for 2 months.
This place isn't luxury, but having said that we watched a boat of guests from nearby swanky Thatch Caye arrive for a day trip and then complain that they like it on Tobacco better. I don't blame them, it's way prettier and a quarter of the cost.
The snorkeling was also quite good right off the beach. Tobacco Caye is right on the reef so the coral and fish are right there waiting to be explored. Tons of sting rays and eagle rays which was super cool to see.
We traveled all over Belize and this was by far the highlight. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Wow! Nothing I can write here will do a visit to Tobacco Caye justice. An amazingly small island, 30 minutes by speedboat from the mainland, with awesome views, sunrises and sunsets, and cute places to stay over the water. Tobacco Caye Paradise was just one of those places. Tucked on the end of the island it has an position which makes it have more of a private, community feel compared to some f the other lodgings on the island which stretch from side to side across its width. The cabins are great, over the water and rays swim past regularly, with pelicans fishing for their dinner swooping down too. Our cabin was fine for two nights, though due to a slight mix up and it having one double bed, rather than the two singles we had booked, they had to squeeze a single bed in, meaning very little room for our cases and bags. But then we really weren't in there much, other than to sleep! Food is good with 3 meals a day provided and wifi is adequate too. No air con but there is a fan and the shower, although only running cold water, was plenty warm enough and slightly refreshing as the sun warmed the water up well. 2 bars in the other resorts on the island gave sun set views and drinks were reasonable prices. Lots of activities to do - renting snorkel gear, kayaks, arranging dive trips etc. But really you might just want to relax in a hammock for a couple of days! Absolutely loved this little island and wouldn't hesitate to return, if only there were not other places on my wish list....!

Tobacco Caye Paradise was a genuinely stunning rustic island experience. Great people, good food and endless sea. The island is a short 5 minute walk from one end to the other. There are no crowds of tourists and you can spend countless evenings enjoying the stingrays feeding by the dock, as the fishermen come in for the day to clean their catch. Extraordinary experience.

Our family of four had the privilege of staying at Tobacco Caye Paradise over Christmas. What an excellent place to celebrate the holidays or any other day! The cabins are exceptional in their location over the water and it is possible to swing from your hammock on the back deck while watching rays in the water below. The stars at night were magical. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was great. I hope that we will visit again one day!

The friendliest and most accommodating hosts I could imagine! The Cabanas over the water are rustic but nice, clean, and each has a hammock on the porch overlooking the water. The food is good home made food! They had a happy hour with snacks each evening. The call to dinner was one of the guys blowing a conch shell! Lots of hammocks on the property. Two small bars nearby if you want them. Good snorkeling. Right on the reef. Saw lots of spotted eagle rays from the porch. I would recommend it. The only drawback was there is no hot showers. Showers use rainwater caught and stored. Clean and all but cool. I got used to it after the first shower. I really liked it there! Would go again!

We booked an over the water cabaña and it was just so perfect for what we needed and wanted. The island is lovely but the people are the ones making this island truly special. We initially booked through Antonio, then later met Doreen, and upon arriving the island we met Rugged and Kirk and the cooks who treated us like family! We really cant complain, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. With our cabaña being over the water, we got to see stingrays at anytime of the day and night! We also admired the fishermen cleaning conchs and feeding the stingrays around 3pm everyday. My fiancè went fishing and had a great time, we all went night snorkeling with the marine station and it was quiet fun and educational. The food was always super delicious and most of the time was buffet style. The sunset from kirks bar was absolutely gorgeous. To our surprise there are 2 more properties in the island besides paradise and 2 bars. The island is a bit bigger than what we expected but mein we loved staying at paradise! We will definitely return, next time with our entire family!
