I hate writing reviews but this experience was so good I couldn't not. A big reason is that we left something in the room at check out and the staff found it and has kept it for us. We booked to stay for seven nights in a one bedroom with our two young daughters on the gold level which was the best idea. From the doorman who shuttled us to the gold level where we were able to check in while the kids enjoyed refreshments after a long travel day to the staff in the lunch itself who revealed a games cabinet. We loved it so much (and it was snowing back home) we stayed another four nights in the Grand Suite which was even better. It was huge and came with its own kitchen!

Without going to long, the pool was always warm, the drinks were always cold, and the staff was always present and went above and beyond at every turn.

We found a great deal on Fairmont and decided to try it out. Per one of the staff members, it was built in March 2018 so fairly recent and it is the largest Fairmont hotel in North America. Due to COVID, the hotel staff are taking plenty of precautionary measures. They expect you to wear a mask in all public areas and take your temperature every time you enter the hotel (as they should!). The entrance to the hotel is breathtaking. There are huge horse sculptures and vivid colors adorning the lobby area. Staff is so friendly. The location is perfect. It’s so close to south congress, all the downtown area is 5 minutes away and the rooms offer beautiful views of downtown. We only ate one meal at the Fulton which was our breakfast. Everything was deliciously prepared especially the waffle with the vanilla cream. I did find the seating to be a little uncomfortable for eating since there are mostly couches but still I loved the ambience. The pool on the 7th floor is wonderful with a great view of the downtown. The kids has a blast. I used the fitness room too which also had a great view but the peloton bikes need some servicing. My only complaint was that housekeeping service did clean our room but they did not vacuum. I find that this happens a lot when we stay at hotels. Is it a policy not to vacuum a room when the guests will be using it for multiple nights? It’s very annoying when you’re staying with three kids who are messy. But this is not a complaint of Fairmont but of hotels in general. In summary, we would love to come back here!

Modern with classic design elements. Service is impeccable as you expect. The room was spacious. The bed, linens and pillows were of the highest quality and comfort. However, the sofa in the room was very stiff and not something I would consider comfortable.
Other cons:
There was no room in the beverage refrigerator for anything else. It is only intended for their in-room beverage service. I suspect you could request a mini-fridge be brought to the room for personal items.

I would like to see the location do away with the single use shampoo/conditioner items as other hotel chains are doing.

I was in a handicap accessible room and the shower had absolutely no place to put shampoo or soap other than on the floor. This seems like a big oversight.for the space.

Just stayed at the Fairmont, lobby and main areas are impressive. Checkin was crowded had to wait in line, had to at valet as well. No information given by desk clerk other than where elevator was located and when check out time was, so important she mentioned it twice! Halls and rooms look to have been updated. Room was mostly clean , beds were comfortable. Spilled food on drapes need cleaning. Main bathroom door (modern barn style) was broken. Very heavy door that did not close correctly, stopper was missing or malfunctioning smashed 3 fingers/nails, let alone no privacy while showering. More or bigger bottles of toiletries would be nice, not enough for 2 with long hair. Room service- some items were delivered uncovered which is not acceptable at the best of times.(Butter, whipped cream and bacon) they should have been at least been plastic wrapped. No napkins provided. We did not see any extra disinfecting crews but noticed a lot of Hand sanitizing stations albeit the one we tried by the pool entrance was empty.

During a recent stay, I had terrible experiences with the staff at the Fairmont Austin from the moment I checked in. First, at check in I asked for a room on a higher floor. Even though the hotel had a lot of empty rooms, I was told the only way to get a room on a higher floor was for an additional fee. They consider this an "upgrade". Second, the hotel provides Google Chromecast on their in room televisions. Mine did not work. The hotel sent an IT guy who explained this was a "systemic" problem with the hotel. In other words, he couldn't offer a fix even after several attempts. I ended up calling the hotel's vendor myself for a work around.

Lastly, and most disturbing was a very scary run in with housekeeping. The hotel supposedly offers 24 turn down service. Early one evening I called the front desk requesting the turn down service. I came back to my room several hours later to find nothing had been done. I called again and they assured me someone would be right up. Eventually, a very aggressive and agitated man from housekeeping showed up. He was obviously unhappy and somewhat threatening. He kept asking me what "I wanted from him". I simply said turn down service, but he really didn't seem to understand. He left and came back with some bottles of water, but never did do the actual turn down service. My wife and I definitely felt threatened by this hotel employee.

I went to the front desk in person the next day to explain what had happened. The person at the front desk didn't say much and then disappeared to talk to the manager. The manager never actually came out to speak with us personally. I guess they couldn't be bothered. We were eventually offered a very modest food/beverage credit for the inconvenience. It was borderline insulting. Oh, instead of actually giving us a credit right then and there, I had to ask for the credit again at check out where someone had to go back and add it manually. Meaning if I hadn't asked, I wouldn't have gotten it.

You expect a higher level of service from a Fairmont branded hotel. This location failed miserably.

Amazing service, from the second we walked in the door we were greeted with amazing customer service by the staff. The service continued when we ordered room service on the first night. We arrived late and weren’t able to get food before arriving. We ordered 15 mins before the kitchen closed, but were still provided our room service from an attendant with a smile and happy attitude, despite being so late. And then the service even continued with the pool staff, Zack provided excellent customer service the entire time we were at the pool ensuring our drinks were always full and that was took the time to have a conversation with us. Customer service is about the little things, making guests feel appreciated! The staff at the Fairmont were unbelievably attentive and genuine. We were nervous about traveling during a pandemic but with the modification to their procedures and great cleanliness we were able to relax and not worry about anything. The only criticism or down fall that I was think of was the beds were a little hard and the pillows were flat, but honestly small things in the grand scheme of our vacation. We will definitely be coming back and telling everyone we know! Thank you so much for your hospitality!

We stayed three nights on a combined business/getaway trip. The Fairmont is not an inexpensive place to stay, but the service, accommodations, location, and staff cannot be exceeded at any price. We chose the Fairmont because of the overhead walkway to the convention center, but found SO MUCH more to enjoy! They valet parked our vehicle on Thursday and we didn’t need it again until we left Sunday. They had transportation within a one mile radius available at basically “no charge”! Every employee we encountered was pleasant, professional, and eager to meet our every need.

This was our first time staying in the new hotel in Austin; The Fairmont. The lobby was beautiful, staff very friendly and we had no problem getting checked in. There is a $100 incidental fee, so have that available when you check in. We chose to park our own car, which is $36/nt, in an attached garage to the hotel. We loved our room, the view was amazing! It was very quiet and roomy with great amenities; an umbrella, a Dyson hairdryer, two robes, Nespresso coffee maker, an electric kettle, snacks and drinks you can charge to your hotel and a spacious bathroom. There is an area downstairs with several eateries and a first class restaurant on site; $150/pp with a top chef. The pool has a nice bar and was very roomy. The pool area can accommodate many guests, so we didn't feel crowded. Though they said it was a heated pool, it was cold, due to the outside temperature and wind. We drank some port and had cigar. I wish they had a case available to put the cigar in but we had to finish them and leave them. We didn't want to bring it back to the room. I do want to mention, the smoking area by the pool bar was very dirty. there were several ash trays, full of cigar butts and empty drinks. They had adequate staffing with not that many people there. Someone should have bused the areas. We ended up staying around the hotel and listened to music downstairs in the lobby and drank some beers. The hotel is in an excellent location. We found out they have hybrid bikes you can rent. The only complaint I need to mention is the odor in our room. The room, 1221, carpet smelled like a dirty vacuum and our pillows had an bad odor. We didn't notice it until we hung out in our room. It's a new-ish hotel and it shouldn't smell. Otherwise, we'll be back. Thank you!

My girlfriend and I decided that we would treat ourselves to a relaxing stay at a fancy hotel with a nice pool. It was a pretty fancy place the room was excellent and the hospitality was great. We were met at the door with instant read thermometers, free masks and sanitizer so we thought it would be a place that took Covid seriously. However, unbeknownst to us the hotel was selling day passes for the pool with a 250 person capacity. We picked the hotel because we were hoping for a relaxing stay at the pool, but it was basically a frat party, every inch of the pool was full of 20 something year olds partying to loud club music, not a single one had a mask, the water was so filthy from all the people that you couldn’t see two feet into the pool, I know because I walked the up to it and looked in. I guess being a guest at the hotel is second to paying $50 to get to use the pool for the day, we felt ripped off because we picked the hotel specifically for the pool, but were not able to use it because it was disgusting. The other hotels that we stayed at over the weekend (there were two) took Covid very seriously and had pool reservation times, very limited amount of people allowed in the pool, not the Fairmont... it was basically Spring Break.

My wife and I stayed at the Fairmont Austin for 3 nights for a business meeting. The hotel is well located in downtown Austin, less than a 15 minute drive from the airport. The lobby and reception area is grandiose and welcoming, and check in was smooth and painless. We checked into root 1525, which was a king room with a spectacular view looking north. The room was well appointed, clean, roomy and comfortable. Wifi signal was strong and free of charge. The mini=bar was well stocked, but there was no extra room to store our own food and drinks. No problem - a call to the front desk resulted in a complimentary second mini-fridge delivered to the room at no extra charge. The hotel also has a gym, which I did not have time to use, but we did check out the pool area, which was spacious and luxurious. The meeting rooms were also functional, and the breakfast and lunch served was healthy and delicious. The hotel is well located, within a 5 minute walk from the 6th Street nightlife, as well as a doable 20-25 minute walk to the UT football stadium, where we attended a game on our day off on Saturday. Without equivocation, I highly recommend the Fairmont Austin to anyone in search of a clean, comfortable hotel in a great location to use as a base to explore the enchanting city of Austin.

No, there is access with your room key. Great pool area, large; jacuzzi. Separate play area for kids. Good bar. I believe that the cabanas require a reservation and have fees.
