Baguio is a busy, noisy place. The first hotel we stayed in at Baguio was, for the price, terrible. We checked in late at night (off the bus from Manila) the room was not clean and it smelled of sewerage (entering the bathroom made us gag). We checked out first thing and thanks to Trip Advisor I contacted Golden Pine Hotel and booked a family room. It was excellent! A little more expensive than I had budgeted for but so worthwhile. The staff were awesome and we ate all of our breakfasts and dinners at the hotel. It isn't a new place but it is comfortable, elegant and safe. After long days of sightseeing and horseriding it was nice to come back to our room with air com where the kids could watch cable TV and I could read or use the wifi.

We visited Baguio City for the valentines and looking for a hotel is quite challenging. I came across their site and decided to send them a message. My reservation email bounced back and I thought it was already gone but I got a call from them confirming my reservation.

The location is really at the heart of the city where Burnham Park is just across. We got a Superior Room with Queen-Size bed. The room is spacious and feels less cozy. We paid P2,500 per night which comes with a complimentary breakfast for 2 though you only have a choice between American or Filipino plated food.

The hotel staff are courteous and friendly, never had any trouble with them. The parking though is a bit challenging because their basement is very cramped and can only accomodate 5.

Overall, I am satistfied with my stay with them.

The golden pine hotel, Baguio City, Philippines.
stayed end of oct/early nov,2006
travelling from england.
stayed 3 nights.

A very clean, warm and welcoming hotel.

bedroom was fantastic, very nice big double bed and the room is very well furnished with everything you would expect to find including tv, air con, mini bar and cupboards.

en-suite bathroom, with shower over bath with 24 hour hot water. Shower head was broken on arrival but room service sorted it out within 20 minutes, fantastic service! has a hairdryer as well although didnt use it.

there is also a restaurant as well which has a good range of foods and very reasonably priced and the food tastes great too.
Breakfast isnt included in the room price but still very cheap just to order ir in through room service, and with room service being efficient its actually a much better and easier option to have breakfast in the room.

the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful in trying to cater for your needs so this is always appreciated.

the hotel is located about a 5-10 mins walk away from the main shopping street (forgotten what its called)

bad points:
didnt actually find any bad points of the hotel.

suitable for pretty much all sorts of travellers, although i think access for wheelchairs is limited but contact the hotel to double check this.
price: paid around £20-ish w/out breakfast. breakfast was around £3-4 which is not too bad at all. was travelling on a budget so this worked out really well for us.

other than that, just enjoy the fresh air of baguio!

Okay. I rarely give reviews on the hotels I've stayed in but this one is an exception because we're really disappointed. Our family checked-in for 2 nights at this hotel, superior and executive rooms. They have this "NO SMOKING" policy with a fine of 1k pesos, originally. My father smoked from the balcony area. Its an open area so I guess its ok for him to smoke. As we checked-out, they claimed that the room smelled like smoke and they cannot open the room for the next guest bec of it. They charged us 2k pesos for it. What I find alarming the most is that they changed the fine from 1,000pesos to 2k. Just like that. Seriously? And the list of other things to put here. Just to summariez.

This hotel is old, has rude staff, and absurd money making policies. Definitely, NOT RECOMMENDING THIS OR NOT GOING BACK HERE.

Me and my family stayed at a different hotel for the first 2 nights of our stay in Baguio but decided to try a different hotel on our last day. We were delighted with the accommodating staff and the cozy appearance of the lobby and the rooms. The room was almost complete, with complimentaries, and with a big toilet and bath. Color of the room was very warm. First room we got has a problem with the aircon, but as soon as we called the attention of the front desk, they immediately transferred us to another room. The aircon this time was good, but there were no comforters for the beds. Linens should be changed because it looks quite old, otherwise it is still presentable. Housekeeping was very fast, they gave us extra pillows and towels with no charge. :) There was wi-fi available, and they also have a 1 hour free internet use on the hotel computer. Complimentary breakfast was average. The front desk officer and bellman were commendable. They were all smiles and even remembered what rom we were checked-in. Check-out was fast, and the receipt was even enclosed in an envelope. :)

I don't know where to start as everything with the hotel is close to perfect. My hubby and I stayed at the hotel in Aug 2012 to celebrate our wedding anniversary and our experience was outstanding!! Their food is great as well as the room, service was excellent and the staff was courteous and accommodating at the same time. Location is good, very convenient as there's a lot of 24-hr establishments around the vicinity. If there are things that we could ask for is that they would upgrade the tv to flat screen and that they would provide a lounge for smoking guests. But nonetheless, Baguio wouldn't be a better place if not for Golden Pine. Definitely gonna come back again and again and again....

My son and I stayed at the Golden Pine Hotel on our first two nights in Baguio City. We checked out because we went out of town and when we went back to Baguio we tried the other hotel. Well, that other hotel nearby was a disappointment. So, after our trip to Ilocos Sur, we went back to Baguio and decided to give our business again to Golden Pine for the remainder of our stay in the city. We had our family reunion in the ballroom because our original plans at a restaurant fell through. It was almost midnight when I informed the staff about the need for a place for the reunion the next day; the hotel restaurant workers worked quickly and had the party room ready the same night. Charles, the hotel event planner, took care of the menu and the excellent food was ready for the reunion the next day. My appreciation to Charles and his crew who handled the party professionally and our thanks to Mark Dexter S. R. and all the front desk staff who took care of our stay from 5/29/2012 - 6/7/2012. You are all great people. By the way, security guards are courteous, they are always ready to help, such opening the taxi, calling taxi and have the umbrella when it is raining. Thank you all for making our vacation to the Philippines pleasant and memorable one. God Bless You All!! Sincerely- Nelia Springfield

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights/3 days. The room, a superior twin room, was elegant and spacious. The hotel staff, the guard on duty and the waiters/waitresses in the hotel's restaurant were all friendly and accommodating. The hotel is a walking distance from Burnham Park. The disappointing part was, when we arrived, the room given to us appeared to have been hastily prepared. The towels were not neatly folded on the towel rack, i.e., they were carelessly hung, which made me doubt if they have not yet been used. The chair looked old, and one of the lights in the comfort room was flickering. Someone tried to fix it but failed to do so. They said that the hotel was fully booked but when we demanded for a change of room because of the defective light, we were given a room which was much better than the one originally given to us, although it was also a superior twin room. The cover of the bed looked better, the chair was ok, the bathroom was ok. We wondered why that room was not given to us in the first instance since it was not occupied and looked more presentable..Could it be because we had a child with us? Anyway, inspite of that, we enjoyed our stay in Baguio.

This Hotel although unassuming from outside offers good clean comfortable rooms, very good service and nice restaurant in a handy central position close to Burnham Park and the markets.
The staff were particularly helpful with all requests and information. The rooms were well equipped, clean, good views ( of traffic chaos that is Baguio).

Since this is peak season, it would be best to contact the hotel directly to make reservations. In terms of cost, please expect a premium price sue to the high demand during the Christmas break. Previously, on normal days, rate provided per night was 2000 per night with breakfast.
