This has been THE BEST hotel experience I have had.
Every one of the staff remembers our names and delivered world-class services, each time without fail. Everyone goes out of their way to ensure that our needs are met.
Upon arrival you are greeted with a refreshing welcome drink and are shortly whisked away for a short introduction to the hotel's amenities.
Even though my friend and I were slightly late for breakfast, the staff took out orders early and had them delivered - perfectly plated and piping hot/chilled - to our room.
Not to sound overly maudlin, but our experience at Komaneka makes it hard leaving Ubud. We will be back!

I've stayed in more than 400 hotels and resorts around the world in the last twenty years, but our stay at Komaneka at Monkey Forest was my favorite experience ever. My wife and I absolutely loved our six-night stay at Komaneka at Monkey Forest. From the moment we entered the lobby we felt welcomed and at home. They have fresh juice to start and then the hotel manager, Ade Bu then described the amenities of the hotel. Ade was an absolute delight. Each morning she went to the outdoor market to buy passion fruit for my wife which they would put in our basket each day. She arranged an excellent driver for us. She also worked with the folks at the Green School/ Green Village/Pure Bamboo Factory to confirm our reservations, which all had been messed up by the Green school folks, and made everything was in order. On our last day she confirmed our next hotel in Nusa Dua was open given it was a few blocks from the G20 Summit. When we were driving to Nusa Dua we were trapped in traffic for three hours. Knowing the Summit would also be on the following day we made the decision to return to Ubud for another night at Komaneka. Our driver, Tutna, and Ade made sure that everything was set for our return and even gave us the same room. But knowing we were stressed about having prepaid the other hotel, they spelled out "Welcome Back Home" in flowers and leaves on the bed and filled the bathtub with flowers. Wow! The rooms are huge with the bathroom area larger than many hotel rooms. A private toilet along with a bathtub and glassed-in shower. Double sink vanity, lots of storage space. a desk for me to work at, a lovely veranda with koi swimming in a small pool, and which looks out over a rice field. Fast Internet. Almost everyone on the staff greeted us by our names starting on the very first day, along with a big warm smile. There are lots of choices for breakfast and the portions are large. The main pool is beautiful, but I found it a bit cold. The grounds are lovely. The location was right on Monkey Forest road with a plethora orf stores, restaurants, massage spots (Go to Shambala Spa), and clubs, but the rooms were so private and quiet you would have thought we were miles away. On our last morning, it was Manager Ade's day off so we were sad to miss her, but on the way to the airport we made an unexpected stop and there was Ade who jumped in the car to accompany us to the airport (Our driver Tutna, whom we highly recommend as safe, friendly and informative, is Ade's husband). In short, this is an extraordinary hotel, with unmatched service, and given the price, exceptional value.

Komaneka Monkey Forrest has been my go to retreat for over 18 years.
I have always loved the soul and Magic it offers. Although the oldest of the Komaneka resorts it has always been the most magical.
I let me take you on the journey.
From the airport pick up the Komaneka staff greet you by name and recognise you straight away, take you to the car where cold beverages and fragrant cold towel await,they drive you to the resort and the journey is always filled with pleasant conversation.
On arrival you are greeted with a refreshing drink, another fragrant towel and a huge welcome back to your home in Ubud, everyone knows you and greets you by name. You are escorted to your room which is impeccable with a lovely stocked minibar and all your needs catered too.
The delightful turn down service with the wonderful Komaneka sleeping gown makes going to bed special.
The breakfast is spectacular and the service warm and welcoming and the utmost is done to make sure your stay in Ubud is wonderful. The abundant afternoon tea is amazing and enough to see you through to dinner .
The Komaneka staff have always been considered part of the family and we’re always consistent.
That is the Komaneka Monkey Forrest I fell in love with, it epitomises Ubud and why it let coming back.
It’s no longer anything like that.
The breakfast is still spectacular though the Indonesian speciality must be ordered in advance.
The rooms are still nice but the magical extras are gone along with the minibar and after 18 years I no longer recognise many of the staff or them us.
The wonderful manager Dewi is no longer there and her presence is notably missed in all the details.
After repeated attempts to book our stay directly with Komaneka ( no replies to emails sent) I had to use booking .com and then ring the hotel to confirm and arrange airport pick up, which is now just a regular taxi.
I know Komaneka monkey Forrest is very small and not as new as the others in the Komaneka brand but it was the soul and the place the bigger hotels grew from , sadly it feels like it’s a little neglected.

I was impressive due to his kind explanation and warm welcome. I stayed for 6 days and all day long, room was so clean and whenever I asked something, hotel staff always replied so warmly and quickly. Breakfast was delicious especially I enjoyed Nasigorang, omellet, and briochue bread ,cafe latte. I had free yoga classes every morning 8 o'clock and that let me feel refresh. I surely recommend that this hotel's stay will be satisfied and if you stay once, you will stay again. Thanks all the staff for everything and especillay my friend Arik. I hope we will meet soon again.

WOWWWW!!!! I was lucky enough to stay at Komaneka at Monkey Forest for one week and have never experienced feeling so welcomed and cared for, you really feel you are part of the Komaneka family! My room was enormous, massive bedroom, living area and bathroom and it had a lovely view overlooking the rice paddy. It had absolutely everything you could possibly need and it was beautifully cleaned twice a day with really lovely personal touches. I was just so well looked after that I felt like I was the only guest staying there! The staff are all gorgeous and always so helpful and accomodating, nothing was ever too much trouble for them! The landscaped hotel grounds are incredibly peaceful and beautiful, exquisite gardens throughout and an incredible pool area, overlooking the river below, was amazing!!! This hotel is in such a perfect location, you don't need to walk far at all, one minute, to experience fine dining on Monkey Forest Road, there are some really exceptional restaurants at your fingertips. The hotel restaurant is a beautiful space to sit and enjoy one of their lovely breakfasts on offer, the pancakes are awesome too! I cannot praise enough just how wonderful this hotel is, absolute perfection! A very special shout out to all the staff here, but especially to everyone in reception, you all make staying here an amazing, personal experience! I am already planning my return to the incredible oasis of peace and beauty at Komaneka, and to the Komaneka family that I now feel I belong to. Thank you all for absolutely everything!!!! Great hotel, very friendly staff that makes you feel special and very welcome especially Ade. At check in you get a nice refreshing drink that was very tasty nothing like the usual extra sweet lemonade. Room was clean, spacious, good bathroom, great shower. Only remark is that the door lock is a bit easy to break as well as that of the sliding doors to the terras. The terras was very nice in the shade under the trees. Bed was comfortabel two different sizes pillows Enough power plugs for the charges. Every day fresh fruit on the desk. The garden was beautiful well kept between the rice terraces. Swimming pool was good as well, deep enough good to swim and clean. Every afternoon there was complementary afternoon tea with some local sweets. Although it is on the nicest street of Ubud (Monkey Forest road) that is quite busy, once in the hotel you notice nothing of it all is very quite. Breakfast is not in buffet but a la carte is is limited to a few dishes which in turn are very tasteful and well prepared. We did not had any problem with breakfast this way. Coffee, tea and if prefer a cappuccino or an expresso that was also okay, no extra charge. All in all we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Location is perfect, not to far from the center of Ubud (10 minutes walk) and also on walking distance of Monkey Forest (15 min walk).

Bali can be hit and miss with accommodation but this place is always reliable. As soon as you step in here you feel relaxed and welcome. Every time you walk in the staff say 'welcome home'. It is a really lovely touch.
Ade is one of the managers here and she is wonderful. She makes you feel so welcome and she sets the standard for all staff here - always friendly, smiling and making you feel like you belong here.
The location is perfect, right in the centre of Ubud, only five minutes walk from the Monkey Forest but as soon s you step inside it feels like you've been transported to a serene countryside.
I would come back again. And again.

Excellent service with professional and friendly staff,we really felt at home. You can tell great care is taken in helping guests live Ubud to the full. Location is very handy to walk around Ubud (15min walk to monkey forest) and the rooms are also great, air conditioning works perfectly and the beds are very comfortable. Only thing that could be improved is the restaurant times, restaurants in Ubud are currently closing very early (around 9pm) so it would help to have the restaurant serve at later times. We easily solved the issue by having room service anyway.

The staff here are absolutely wonderful! They are so friendly, polite and helpful and it just made the entire stay feel like home rather than being at another hotel resort.
Rooms are comfortable and clean but just remember you are in a natural surrounding so typical things like mosquitoes, insects and such are common and you will notice them around here and there but this is outside their control. The only other thing that really bothered us were the geckos roaming on our roof as they seemed to constantly call out all day and night. Having thin walls this would drive a person made but luckily we had some ear plugs so we were still able to get a good sleep.
We didn't get the chance to jump into the pool however we did walk by a few times. Very beautiful pool with a beautiful natural backdrop.
Breakfast a la carte menu was limited however sufficient and a bit repetitive if you were to stay there for a long time.
The accommodation was extremely well located within walking distance to almost everything so you won't really need to catch a taxi if you are ok to go for short walks!
Overall very happy with our stay and would stay again.

Specifically talking about Komaneka @ Monkey Forest, they went through the last of their major renovations when was when we were first there in November 2018; which were the pool villas.
We stayed there again October 2019, not sure if bathrooms were/ had been renovated; but ammenities & upkeep was immaculate.
There are more places to choose from in the Ubud area.
