My wife, two kids (6 and 2) and I stayed here for a week and we loved it. The staff are very friendly and the Italian owners are very knowledgeable about local watersports. They have the best pool in the area and a quite little beach. It's the perfect place for families. I'll be back again.

Bought the Metrodeal voucher last November and easily got the April 5-7 (Holy Week) slot for a family of 4 adults and 2 kids. This had been a very great deal as the resort looks very elegant ( has a Mediterranean touch) and the beach is secluded - far from the noisy, crowded and toxic White Beach.

Service - Both the owner and his staff are very friendly and accommodating, always attending to all our requests. The owner even allowed us to hang out in the vicinity of the resort after check-out time since we loved the place so much.

Value - It's not cheap yet you get value for money for everything you pay for as they serve delicious food and provide high-quality service.

Room - cozy, spacious and even has a refrigerator and stove inside.

Among the things that we really enjoyed and loved are the pool (it's the only resort in Talipanan with a pool), beachfront area, nice and warm people (owner and staff), secluded location, fine white sand, clear water and picturesque resort facade.

I think this is the best place one can find in Puerto Galera. I would love to go back and stay here longer!

Well worth the wait! Couldn't have asked for a better staff, a better owner, a better location.. and the Food, not at all that pricey for a tourist destination (not to mention DELICIOUS).. Thumbs up for the pool coz its a big hit for the kids (after all salty sea water kinda hurts the baby eyes), But the beach is beyond awesome.. Its private (hence you get to bask more relaxingly) unlike the crowded noisy beaches.. The room is what one should expect for a beachfront resort and its so spacious.. looking forward to going back there.. Giorgio (the owner) and his staff are so accommodating.. It wasn't at all expensive and the service was not cheap.. Mind you, we were a party of 24 and we were given a warm and homey stay.. I wouldn't have it any other way.. :)

Netrisha Trisha... I wrote a review Jun 2017
Stayed here last June 10-11, 2017 and our stay here goes to prove the saying, "You get what you paid for". This is by far the WORST hotel stay I have experienced in my track of traveling the provinces of the Philippines.

Booked this via Travelbook. All their contact numbers weren't reachable. The "supposed" front desk didn't even have an idea of our booking until a day or two before we arrived. Too much headache, indeed. Again, we got what we paid for.

The staff were okay. Not too accomodating tho. They would often be busy about their own lives, making chismis to each other. Asking for service water took 10years and by the time they noticed we are calling their attention were already parched... Some of us might have even choked to death. I didn't leave a tip so you can fill in the blanks. Food was okay. I think they don't specialize in Filipino Food. Pizza was GREAT - at least there's something to recommend

Their office closes at 9pm. So you better get all the things you need because the staff will not be there if you will want food or you will need utensils or whatever. No Security visible. Ni walang medical aid or anyone na matatawag in case of emergency.

The pool - NOT CLEAN. No depth marks so it's not for kids. And that brings us to the Table in the pool. The Manager accused my friend of breaking the table made of Marble positioned in the deeper part of the pool. The way the manager approached my friend was already rude. He didn't treat him like a guest. He came over to where our group was, without excusing himself he said "Hey you're the one who broke the table" - he reviewed the CCTV with us and it didn't show that my friend break it. We fastforwarded to the events the following day and it showed two men sitting on that table. The thing is, we were the only guests left there who he can put the blame into. He didn't listen to us anymore when we pointed that out on the video and continued on babbling and saying we should pay him.

The staff would've been aware if my friend broke it because the last time we swam in your dirty pool was just before they cleaned it. And uh, why were you guys using MURIATIC ACID in cleaning your pool? Isn't that dangerous? Tell your staff to shut their mouths if this is supposed to be a secret!

PS. The manager said that we will have the police involved. We didn't leave immediately, that's a lie. We even asked for him to call the police or tanod or whoever but because we can't miss the trip back to Batangas Port, we had to leave. He even saw us leaving. So why didn't he stop us?

There, that's a full review of my experience at this hotel -- If this is even a hotel.

After a stressful and boring week of office works, this is the place to be. A perfect getaway for the weekend. Jerjoe(not sure if I've spelled it correctly), the owner picked us up from White Beach with his typical owner type jeepney. The road was rough and uncomfortable, not enough road lights to better see the curves and the danger of the ravines. But when we arrived at the location, man it was AWESOME. I could almost see the perfect grin in our faces having the thought that we will definitely enjoy this couple of days runwaway. They had the best crew and staff, the friendliest I've ever experience so far. Staying here felt like you were living with your family. I will definitely go back, maybe have my wedding here o live in here like FOREVER. Too bad, they're only be renting he place for 25 years. You still have more time.- MJ

Enjoyed my weekend here, as the place is not crowded. Its so peaceful and you could just have the beach and nature by yourself. At night, you have the pool to swim at and Italian restaurant just around the place. Staff and owner were very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended for families and friends who are looking for a place to just chill out.

El Canonero - a perfect place for family vacations, if you ask me. So peaceful and so beautiful away from the too crowded noisy White Beach Resort. My family super enjoyed the pool and the beach, even the foods are delicious!!! I really enjoyed our stay here and if i have a chance i would definitely go back! =)

If you're looking for a relaxing vacation then this is the place to be... I just went there with my family & we are definitely thinking about coming back! Giorgio (the owner) & his staff are very accommodating. They are friendly & always ready to take care of our needs & requests... The food (especially the pizza) is great! Food prices are reasonable, too. The beach out front is absolutely to die for! It's a bit out of the way (at Talipanan, just a little farther than White Beach), but that's what makes it so great, because it's not crowded & the view is just stunning! The place also has pool, a bar, & plenty of options for snorkeling, diving, sightseeing, shopping... so there is never a dull moment ;-)

I definitely loved every minute of our trip... & so did my whole family! Thanks Sir Giorgio & all El Canonero staff for making our stay so enjoyable & memorable! Till we meet again!

We have been told Talipanan was the better side of Puerto Galera, but that we really didn't quite figure out how and this hotel we checked into offered no help at that at all. The hotel was way too far from the convenience of having shops/sights nearby, kilometers away from the pier and practically everything else. We only had a small strip of beach bare of anything of supposed interest to tourists, but just ruins of houses burned down/torn apart hard to appreciate. It almost felt like we were in a condemned island with a rocky beach and dirty shores. The road going to El Canonero was rough, steep, and barely passable on foot unless you have plans on having a luxurious mud bath anytime soon. The staff were not that well-trained and our welcome was quite bland, totally nothing warm about it although they were helpful at the very least. The worst thing about this hotel is the food and the rooms. There was no decent meal on the menu below 350 pesos and we were told servings were really just good enough for one. On arrival at lunchtime, we ordered some chili prawns (tasting like peanut butter) and grilled fish, excited for a seafood feast but all we got were prawns and fish FRESH FROM THE FRIDGE. Everything tasted freshly thawed. It was quite ironic really as we ate the almost stale seafood by the sea side. The food could have at least been worth all that money! The free breakfast was not far from that same sort of bad (you had to add 50 pesos to upgrade a non-filling continental breakfast for a heavier pinoy breakfast). The fried rice was more like a cross between fried rice and congee, they charged us for extra coffee when all we asked for was extra hot water, and there is too much salt and too much onions everywhere too. The rooms were an equal disappointment with faded sheets, only one blanket provided for three beds, and the room was generally poorly made up, leaving evident traces of its prior occupants. It was raining the time of our stay, the power went out and the generator couldn't make the hot shower and A/C work, our door frame was leaking water from who-knows-where, the bathroom was also quite soaked from the rain. It was the most dismal vacation imaginable! The only thing to be enjoyed is the pool. Only El Canonero has its own pool this side of the island, but then the pool is not quite enough to amuse any human being for 2 nights and 3 days. Definitely more improvements are needed for this hotel.

This resort was difficult to get to and out of the way, but still had lots of vendors coming up to you while eating, swimming, or anything else outside of your room. The rooms were not the cleanest, nor the food the best, but about what we expected for the price. The owner and staff were the least helpful in planning any trips or activities. I almost give them one star because when we were leaving they ensured us that the bus for the ferry would come pick us up but as the time approached they told us that we had to find another way into town and offered no assistance in leaving which caused us to almost miss our ferry. Most of the other resorts had snorkeling and lots of planned activities free to the guests that we had to find and pay for. I would stay elsewhere if I go again.
