I do think the rooms are smaller than advertised too which should be corrected. Other than that, I think it's what people should expect from a Fairfield, in Asia at least. You can open your luggage next to the door but it would be tight to open it near the bed. For 1 person, it's suitable. Even for 2, I would say it's on the tighter side but not really a big deal.

They utilized the room size properly I think. There is no real door separating the bedroom and the bathroom. Just a sliding door, which was a bit awkward.

I liked how clean everything was and although this location is not exactly close to the main tourist spots, it's situated in YoungdeungPo which is a great location for drinking and eating and also shopping. I'd rather stay here than near Myeongdong because it's so much closer to the airports. Oh and the prices for this fairfield is always on the cheap side.

The location isn't the most amazing since it takes about 30 minutes to get to any major tourist attraction. However, it is right next to the yeongdeungpo train station so it is quite accessible in general as you can catch the train to go pretty much every direction in seoul. There is a coin laundry store 1 block away that opens 24 hours a day, and the airport transfer bus stops right in front of the hotel as well. In terms of amenities the hotel ticks all the right boxes.

Unfortunately for any Marriott loyalist, your elite status won't get you anything here as they don't offer free breakfast. There is also no nicer rooms or suites. The best they offered me was a higher floor room, which was like a shoe box. Although the elevator set up is nice and modern, where you swipe your card and it tells you which elevator to get in without you needing to press the floor button, higher floor sometimes still takes a long time to get into an elevator.

The restaurant on site, if you do want to have a breakfast buffet, has a fairly decent selection and is reasonably priced for western standards, at around 17,000 won. They claim it is independent from the hotel so no free breakfast for anyone. Nice for them to have the convenience of locating directly inside the hotel though, I wonder what their main clientele is?

I had some pretty servere allergy when staying here as well, I think the ac unit aren't properly maintained and cleaned. It can be a cesspool for germs if not done.

Moxys will give you free breakfast and their locations are a bit better than fairfield. They cost slightly more per night. Something to consider.

Staff wasn't very friendly. They do speak very good English in general, but aren't keen to help you much. For example, there was a pretty big pool of water on a bench in the lobby. I almost sat on it while I was waiting for my wife. I informed the front desk about the water, just letting them know it's there. 20 minutes after I was about to leave, the water was still there. Tells you how much they actually care about their job.

Went because the price was much lower than usual and Bonvoy is running a great promotion for double nights and extra points. Titanium Elite/Lifetime Gold. Was okay, but for the price point I've had better experiences at cheaper Bonvoy properties and cheaper hotels in Seoul. Location is a bit outside the most popular areas for tourists, but there are two stations an easy walk away (one <5 minutes and one < 10 minutes) that get you to the 1 and 5 lines for easy connections across the city. I like walking and don't mind the extra time to commute, so that's not an issue for me. There's also a Starbucks and multiple 7-11s right downstairs and plenty of restaurants nearby. It may have just been my days, but the front desk seemed very short staffed, at one point with about 10 people waiting to speak with reception. But in addition to my check-in, I noticed another big queue later. The Titanium Elite Benefits were the weakest I've ever had, and I've stayed at cheaper properties with significantly better, so I don't think it's purely a matter of cost. The breakfast was not included, though I did get a promotion for one breakfast on my last day. Looked like an okay selection, but the coffee and fruit were limited, which is what I usually have. The positives: the rooms are modern, beds are comfortable, and outlets work with U.S. electronics. Luggage storage before and after is nice, especially if you're checking out somewhere else early/waiting to check into your next hotel. People seemed generally friendly. American style bathroom, which was a nice change of pace for a few days. Room spacing is hard for a very big piece of luggage, but still better than smaller guest houses and hostels. I am glad I was able to secure my rate for around $75 USD a night, because at $110 a night I would've felt a little worse. Overall was a good stay, but not somewhere I'd stay again in Seoul with Bonvoy.

We booked Seoul Fairfield for an early Christmas vacation, and loved our decision! The hotel is very reasonably priced, we’ve read reviews about the small room size but found that it wasn’t as bad as we had expected. It’s small but cozy, and had everything we needed including coffee, fridge, a few complimentary drinks and snacks, and the room is very well lighted (window pane was large with ample sunlight).

The bathroom is on a squishier side, there is a glass door that swings both ways, and you can either close the toilet stall or the shower room area. The door shares the same hinge, so if you are traveling with friends and have privacy issue, this hotel layout would have some problem.

Although the location isn’t as conveniently located as one of the more famous destinations such as Dongdaemun or Myeondung, the hotel is 2 minutes away from the subway which gets you to anywhere in the city. There is also a airport limousine bus line #6008 which stops at 30 seconds away from the hotel door, that can get you to and from the Incheon Airport within an hour’s time. You can pay cash upon getting into the bus to get to the airport, you don’t need to buy tickets in advance.

Everyone at the hotel is super duper friendly and helpful, the gentleman who helped us check in was very warm and enthusiastic. We checked in later in the evening and was hoping to see some snow for the Christmas holidays, so we asked him about the weather since it wasn’t snowing when we arrived. We actually knew that it wouldn’t snow while we were there, but during the short conversation he took our question seriously and even helped us go online to check the weather forecast for the next few days. We weren’t expecting that level of detail-oriented service, so that definitely kicked off our trip to a wonderful start.

The hotel uses a very smart elevator system where you tap your room key at a sensor and it will tell you to go which elevator, which will whisk you to your floor directly without having to press anything while you are inside the elevator. This also prevents long waits and stopping by other floors, it controls where you are going directly and takes you there in express-time.

Across from the hotel is an area with lots of restaurants such as Korean BBQ, fried chicken, and convenient stores. Some of the restaurants open 24 hours. And the perk of it is that because the location isn’t at a prime location, therefore the prices are quite friendly and much cheaper than the prices you see at restaurants in Myeundong, etc. Most of the people there are locals rather than tourists, but most of the menu will have simple English translations. The food is quite tasty, and afterwards you can just walk back to the hotel by crossing one street.

Overall, we loved the stay, and would choose it again!

I booked a stay for two nights on the 11th of may 2020 and checking out in the 13th of may 2020.
The room is advertised as 23m2 online, but when we arrived the room was only roughly around 17m2. Which is much smaller than what was advertised.
I do believe customers should receive rooms advertised online and Marriott Fairfield Seoul should never pretended to have very large room sizes.
I did complain to front desk, but all they can tell me was that they can’t do anything about it, and that all rooms are the same size. And moving to another room was not possible; nor were the problems rectified. I did tell the receptionist to get the duty manager to give me a call back. But a call back was never received.

As a customer of Marriott, and I’ve stayed in Marriott all over the world, this is one of the worst experiences I have had with your company.

It was an implied term of the reservation that the accommodation provided would be of the size that was advertised, with good customer service expected from Marriott. But I got neither.

To begin with, I deeply apologize for unpleasant experience due to attitude of our staffs and the procedure of problem solving during your stay. The hotel is just a minute walk from metro station and next to a LOTTE mall with a food court on the basement of the mall. The hotel was open in 2018 and the room was modern design but a bit small for a standard size. Clean and provide toiletries with coffee and tea bags. Has kettle and iron and board for your use. There’s no lotion in the room but you can ask for it in the reception and they will give you for free. Staffs are very polite and very helpful too! A convenient store is just downstairs and a Starbucks next door.

I stayed here for a 4 day conference a david found the staff welcoming and friendly after a long trip. The rooms were spotless and great attention was paid to Covid restrictions in place at the time. Somehow I had thought breakfast was included but it was not but after bringing this to the staff’s attention they provided some coupons that allowed me a lower daily price. The location was central to all the places I needed to go. With not a long taxi drive to the airport. Should I ever be in Seoul again I would stay here.

We enjoyed our stay at Fairfield by Marriott Seoul. We reserved the family room (1 King bed, 1 single bed and 2 bathrooms - connected by an adjoining door). It was a perfect place for 3 pax. Customer service was good. The hotel was conveniently located near public transportation, malls, and restaurants. We even got a complimentary breakfast for 1 day because of my status. We tried to avoid the noise of the train tracks but having all family rooms located near the tracks, we had no choice. We weren't really bothered by the noise though. The train noise was gone by midnight and would start again around 5 in the morning. The reception helped us book a golf time at backyard golf in Seongnam and also a jumbo taxi for our early flight out of Seoul. We’ll definitely stay there again.

ARR L wrote a review Nov 2022
Marriott Gold member here, recently stayed in Philippines and Thailand over the last 4 months, accumulating 22 nights on 10 bookings and had been complimentary upgraded on each reservation. This is the first place I have never been upgraded, so the streak is broken, but meh, I'll live.
The problems I have with this place is besides the hotel not answering my front desk calls a few times today (off peak hours) and not replying to my "chat with front desk" messaging system via Bonvoy App, is that this hotel is equipped with Central air conditioning. This means that if you're boiling in your room because its hot, you cannot independently control your room temperature with the control pad on the wall. The front desk has control over the temperature to your room along with an adjacent room, so any adjustments made affects two rooms. When I asked the front desk how can I cool down my room she said that if she cools down my room and the adjacent room complains, then she will turn the heater back on. If I call and say its too hot she will then turn on the A/C. So it could be a back and forth temp adjustment depending on your neighbor. I have never had a hotel room that I couldn't control the temperature of my own room so I find this bizarre.
The room is also cramped with a bench type couch and circular table that is in the walk way. The layout of the bathroom sink and the furniture should have been thought out better.
The keycard system for elevators seems over engineered too. You have to scan your keycard and the kiosk assigns you an elevator. Once in the elevator there are no buttons for the floors so if you have any friends on other floors or if you are going down from your room to the lobby you're on a straight path and cannot change your mind.
Found this hotel disappointing and wouldn't return here again or recommend it.

Stayed 5 nights and totally loved the hotel! The location was so great, near the Yeongdeungpo station, Singil station, and bus stations that easily and conveniently travelling around the city. The room was not spacious (but well, it was a standard in S. Korea) but very clean, comfortable. Our room was facing the main street but there was no noise at all. Staff was absolutely amazing. They went beyond expectation to ensure us to have the best stay, and they did it successfully. Special thanks to Peter who recommended us a small but lovely jimjilbang. Will come back in the future!
