Hi just got back from a week in Roatan specifically at the reef house Lodge in Oak Ridge Roatan. This is on the east side of the island. I hesitate to share this because I don’t want it to end up like the west side. The diving was beyond words with our guide David and captain Cootie. The family that runs the reef house lodge and their staff were beyond admirable ; clean rooms well-kept three meals a day that were excellent even preparing the fish that we caught . Keith the main man was like a real life Mr. Roarke for those of you that remember fantasy Island I highly recommend this place if you’re ever going there to dive or even just to kick back we’re talking super super slow paced island living at its finest without the hustle and bustle of a large resort.
Amen…
I’m going back.

We are currently at home after leaving the reef house resort after two weeks and 36 magic dives. From the moment we arrived at the reef house dock were welcomed by Keith and Dilcia and shown to our room. A spacious clean and comfortable room with a water cooler, AC and a view of the sea it was magic!
We unpacked and explored the current setup of the resort and met the current owner Davey who explained the current times for meals and diving.
It quickly became apparent to us that the reef house resort had a soul of its own and catered for the needs of its current guests and was also a hub for the local community.
We were shown to the reef house dive shop the next morning and introduced to their current divemaster David and boat captain Cootie and where to wash and store our equipment after diving. The diving here is safe, easy and magical. No currents here either above or below the surface!
We would highly recommend the reef house resort for your vacation as it is currently our favourite magical place to stay.
👍MAGIC!!!!👍

Just got home from a fantastic weekend getaway at The Reef House! It was everything we needed and wanted and more!

If you’re looking for a fancy, upscale place with luxurious amenities, this isn’t the place for you.

If, however, you’re looking to feel like family in a clean, comfortable place with indescribably beautiful views, great food and drinks, and personal service, this is absolutely the place for you!

The value cannot be beat for the price, and Davey and Dilcia treated us like family/treasured guests the whole time!

Snorkeling/diving right off the pier was amazing, and Chocó loaded tanks for us and even helped us with our gear before and after the dive!

Drinks are simple but strong and plentiful, and the authentic island tacos were the best we’ve had on the island!

If you’re coming for a dive trip, or, like us, just looking for a quick weekend getaway even though we live on Roatan, The Reef House is DEFINITELY the place to stay!

*Beware also….. they are SERIOUS about their cornhole!!!😂😂😂

Everything about our week at the Reef House exceeded every expectation I had for the trip. It was like spending a week with old friends. The owners, David and Dilcia, were on site to spend time with guests and the many local people who came regularly to share in the fun. Keith and Regetta kept the bar running smoothly and shared stories, personal history, and island lore. We gathered each morning for breakfast together which insured that we got to know all the guests, and we exchanged emails and Facebook for almost everyone. Every meal was made with fresh ingredients and we ate most of our lunches and dinners at the resort. My husband and our cousin went scuba diving almost daily with David, the divemaster with over 20 years experience at the resort. They came back thrilled after each dive and agreed that the experience was enhanced by the knowledge and professionalism of David and Ned, the boat driver. We snorkeled a short swim off shore at a pristine reef. In fact, my husband and I agree that the reef in Roatan is the healthiest we have seen in the Caribbean in many years. Overall, I would give the Reef House a 5-star review and can enthusiastically recommend this resort to future travelers. We definitely plan to return one day. Thanks to everyone at the Reef House for all the great memories.

Great place, excellent natural pool. Keith and Delcia were great! Feels like youre with extended family during your stay. Also, excellent snorkeling just 100 feet off the shoreline. Also, water tqxis to floating bars and other spots are very reasonably priced, Keith or Delcia will arrange safew transport.

Great rustic laid back atmosphere. Clean rooms, polite and accommodation staff..
Best fried chicken I have ever tasted.😋 breakfast was varied daily and the coffee was abundant.
Dive staff are safe and knowledgeable and the equipment is updated.
A great relaxing family run resort, boat access only staff are knowledgeable and friendly and can arrange any excursions you are interested in on the island of Roatan.
I will definitely return to the Reef House.

My husband Glenn and I took a water taxi, thank you Keith for sending Ned to collect us. A short water ride and we arrived at The Reef House where we were greeted by Keith and Davi, the owner. We enjoyed some nice cold beers and a fantastic lunch of grilled shrimp with salad and plantains and tuna steak with grilled veggies and salad. Good conversation and some history of the island. Sadly we did not bring our snorkel gear, the view and access to the reef is so close, next time for sure we will partake. Do yourself a favor and visit or stay at this gem off the beaten path.

AMAZING place, family lifestyle owner, cool vibes ! We appreciate our marvelous stay with every peaceful and funny peoples out there ! The House Reef Wall was very close to the warf, the snorkeling out there was awesome, 3m long stingray, lot different fishes, giant porcupine fish, octopus, lobsters, great blue sea, faboulus marine life. The salt pool : Great for swim and snorkeling. Snorkeling at night is great too ! All the staff was great , full of love and attention. The food was really good. Keith at the bar: more than excellent. David : enternetainement is : 10/10 ! Dilcia : great manager, ask her whatever, she gonna realize it. Her father guide us in a incredible day in mangrove, barracuda, jack fish and lobster fishing for dinner, snorkeling etc. not crowdy. 9 pm everything is quiet. Funny Dinner time. David put some old funky songs, reggea, etc. too make sure that was the coolest night of your life. Dont forget dancing Smily-Geoges. Is the spot to stay on the quiet side, eastend !!!!

Pros and Cons: The pros are: the snorkeling right off the pier in front of the hotel is sensational. The food was very good, the staff very helpful and friendly, and the overall vibe was very laid back and relaxed - sort of a '60s feel to it. So that was all great. The cons: the place could use an upgrade in terms of the condition of the facilities; the screen door on our room was broken, the toilet leaked a bit, and there were only two nice lounge chairs to sit out on the beach for all the guests to fight over ... And on the day before we left the hotel hosted a party for local residents on Oak Ridge Cay which was great fun; but the lovely little tidal pool in front of the hotel got filled up with trash, which was unfortunate, and I didn't see any attempts by hotel staff to clean it up, instead just waiting till the tide swept everything out to sea. I found that pretty disturbing, to be honest -

Hey Jenn, As easy as letting us know so we can call a water taxi - or a water taxi and a cabbie if both are needed to go to the location you are planning on. :) Keith

Hey Jenn, I'm sorry, no... the room with the King bed does not have a sofa. We have many rooms with two queen beds tho, or we can simply put your son in the room beside room 12- The King. Hope that helps, :) Keith
