Nestled in the heart of Washington DC, the Waldorf Astoria is lauded for its strategic location near key attractions, offering guests grandeur with its opulent atmosphere and historically significant architecture. Praise is often given to the spacious, elegantly adorned rooms, though some guests note high costs and occasional service lapses. The hotel's cleanliness and luxurious amenities receive accolades, yet a few reviewers mention missing basics like face soap. Despite the mixed feedback on value, the hotel's overall charm and elegance captivate many travelers.

Hotel's Favourite
Arriving late at night and exhausted from a horrific flight, we encountered Manager Katie M. at reception. Katie quickly checked us in and had us on our way to our assigned room in seconds. Arriving at our room, we decided it was not to our liking. My wife returned to reception and asked Katie for a different room. Even though the hotel was quite full, Katie patiently checked every available possibility and eventually found us the perfect room and location. Throughout the process, she was charming and professional. This level of service is rarely encountered these days. Amazing!
This was our first stay at the Washington Waldorf. Everything was absolutely perfect and I was awed at the attention to detail everywhere. The staff were unfailing well trained and attentive.

From the moment we arrived our bellman took control of our experience. Dressed in professional attire he greeted us and escorted us to our check in location. Our car was secured and luggage prepared for delivery. He never left us until we confirmed our room was ready as we had an early arrival. Because the attache had made contact with me before arriving our room was available. We were escorted to our room and he explained information about the Tower museum attached to the hotel. Our room was breathtaking as was the size of the powder room. Turn down service with slippers at the bedside and low lighting with music playing in our room made for a relaxing evening following dinner. Soaker tub for 2 was a surprise but lots of fun as we played soft music and talked for an hour. The mattress was heavenly as was the bedding. A birthday card and dessert was a unexpected treat. I called for extra pillows and had them brought quickly by a very pleasant staff member. There was nothing we could have asked for more. Elegance with class is written all over this facility and their staff. Wonderful birthday celebration! You will not be disappointed

This is our first 5-star hotel and I don’t know if we can ever be satisfied with less! My husband gave this DC trip to me for Christmas and he outdid himself. The hotel was beautiful from the lobby to the rooms. I loved the history of the building, and the view from the bell tower was one of the best in the city. What set this hotel apart, though, was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay the best experience possible! The bellman really got to know you through your stay, and helped you get to where you were going (especially Philoman - sorry if I spelled that wrong). The hotel has a car that will take you anywhere within a certain distance at no charge. The drivers were friendly and informative, Orlando even offered some history along the way. The restaurant and bar staff, made sure you had everything you needed. The concierge (Robert and Rachel) gave great suggestions, arranged our night tour of the monuments, and even got us into Filomena’s the same night, when we couldn’t get a reservation! One day I asked where I could get some bubble bath for my room and within minutes 2 loofahs and 3 bath salt containers. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and had a Nespresso machine - oh happy day! I can’t wait to go back.

I had business in Washington and I decided to bring my wife along so we could celebrate her birthday. The Trump staff made sure she was constantly reminded to have a very happy birthday.
All the linens, towels, pillows, toiletries and every other small touch are all top notch. When you travel often you can immediately see the difference when a hotel and its staff pay attention to every single detail.
One of my wife’s favorite times is when she walks back into the hotel daily and the doormen are waiting at the door and they tell her “welcome home”!
This is a splurge worthy stay 😉

Though we live in the DC area, we spent a night at the Astoria DC to celebrate our anniversary, and it was fantastic. This is a magnificent hotel, certainly the finest Hilton in DC and one of the most luxurious in the US. The staff is fantastic, and every member we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.

As a Hilton Diamond, my room was upgraded from a standard to super deluxe king on the top non-suite (8th) floor, where we enjoyed a massive bathroom with a large soaking tub and an unparalleled view of the Capitol. Unlimited Fiji and Evian waters were provided throughout our stay, and our room was nicely turned down while we were out to dinner. Because it was our anniversary, we were greeted with glasses of Prosecco, and a custom dessert was delivered to our room (that was decadent). The $25/each Diamond supplement did not quite cover breakfast in the Peacock Alley lounge, but it came close, and the breakfast was excellent. This is the perfect hotel for a Diamond stay, even though it lacks a member lounge. The larger hotel restaurant is not yet open, but there are many excellent restaurants nearby.

If you are visiting from outside our region, you should know that you cannot possibly beat this location for tourist travel. Most of what you want to see and do is within easy walking distance, and the Metro is just steps away.

The rooms here are well appointed, larger than normal for a lux hotel, and gorgeous. The beds are very comfortable. Our sole complaint was that our room never really got cool during a DC heatwave, though it was not unbearably hot. If you prefer a cool room, you may want to choose a lower floor for a summer stay.

I could name several staff members who worked hard to please us and were more than welcoming and friendly, but a special shout out to Assistant Front Office Director Samar Mansour, who took time to give us a full tour of the hotel, including the closed Presidential Ballroom. I had called ahead to notify the hotel of our celebration, but concierge Tracy Dunaway reached out in advance to offer assistance, and we were contacted by multiple staffers before, during, and after our stay to ensure we were cared for. Said at the front desk was also very attentive. This is one of the best Hilton staffs I have encountered in my many years as a Diamond.

This is a rare gem in the Hilton portfolio. Highly recommended!

This is hands down best hotel in DC if not in the country . They’ve done a remarkable job re purposing this hotel from a historical post office to a most royal , most elegant luxury hotel . The rooms are just impeccably decorated and very spacious . You literally feel like royalty with furnishings you’d imagine would be in the Buckingham palace . The service is also in line with the royal decor . They treat you like the most VIP customer the moment you are warmly greeted by their handsomely dressed door men . Check in was easy , seamless and efficient . The old fashioned cocktails we had at the bar were the best I’ve ever had in my life . Thank you Jose . Huge shout out also to Mary who texted me throughout our stay to ensure every single need was met . I love a good turn down service and was worried they wouldn’t do it since our service dog would be in the room alone but they enlisted the help of one of the housekeepers who loves animals and she dolled up our room while ensuring utmost comfort of our dog . As if that wasn’t enough we came home to a bottle of Veuve and the most delicious carrot cake I’ve ever had in my life / those are fighting words considering I own a bakery and carrot cake is our specialty but this one id hate to admit is even more delicious . Gotta be honest . And in my decades of traveling to some of the finest hotels in the world never have I ever received a bottle of such expensive champagne to toast my partners birthday . This just blew us both away rendering us speechless and compelling me to write a review as quickly as possible to acknowledge such unrivaled generosity and thoughtfulness , complete with a hand written note from Janne Perla - director of banquets and the lovely woman who orchestrated this mind blowing gesture . We thank you from the bottom of our hearts . This wasn’t even a milestone birthday but yet they made it feel like one and more . We live in DC . Have never done a staycation before and just so grateful we came up with this idea if only to experience such first class service that puts any of our previous hotel experiences to shame . Pls pls pls for the love of god book yourself a room at this masterpiece property on your next visit to the nations capital and without batting an eye at the price . It’s actually quite reasonable for such a luxury hotel and worth every dollar in my honest and most sincere opinion . Thank you to the Waldorf Astoria team for making this a most unforgettable experience . I will book a staycation here again and again to celebrate any occasion 🍾🍾🍾🍾❤️❤️❤️❤️

Celebrated New Year's Eve at this hotel and it was amazing. The historical hotel is designed with beautiful decor. Great customer service. Concierge rep Jennifer even texted me after a call drop and answered all my questions before booking and arrival. Front desk was able to check us in a few hours early which was wonderful (but you can leave luggage there and tour city if you need to wait for room). The 2 elaborate bars on ground floor have amazing food and beverage. There's even a museum on lower level and elevator that takes you to 12th floor for panoramic view of the city. Amazing experience. New Year's Eve celebration was off-the-charts with culinary experience, energetic DJ and MC, and 4,000 balloon drop from very high atrium ceiling at midnight. It's the first time we stayed up to ring in the new year in a long time. So much fun and energy. Never got tired until the end. Worth the extra cost for a night to remember.

The personal attention to detail and concern for your comfort begins before you arrive the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC. It is clearly evident why this hotel is in the top three not just in DC but the US. Both concierge Jennifer and concierge Tracy reached out early to assist in my plans for making sure my two 10 year old nephew's first trip Washington, DC early July 2022 was amazing and inspiring. Jennifer set me up with private guide Ismail (separate review on this amazing guy and his vast knowledge of US history), secured all meal reservations I requested and also had welcome treats in our rooms upon arrival. The Waldorf is worth every bit of the price. The location is very convenient since it is in Federal Triangle with a Metro stop just outside and a short five minute walk to The Mall as well as many restaurants and attractions. Upon entering the stunning lobby of the old post office, reception is convenient and personal. The doorman Ahmed and bellman Antehan greeted us all by name (I had alerted Jennifer we had arrived at the airport) and front desk receptionist Sumi quickly checked us in. Every day Ahmed the doorman, Antehan, and Sumi made sure to greet us with fresh water and smiles. Our rooms (723 and 729) were upgraded to the seventh floor facing the Washington Monument. Awesome amenities and comfortable beds befitted very clean and quiet rooms. I will say the only, and I do repeat only, negatives about this hotel is the evening music playing for the bar area is a little loud and off putting and since this hotel is newly opened (from the transition of the Trump International in May 2022) there is not yet a fully operational restaurant. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be served in the bar area and by room service. We took the Metro to most places we needed and found it mostly safe but were certainly diligent and aware. Again, the five star level of service is incomparable. The staff is most accommodating and certainly elevates this hotel it's top three ranking in the US.

Really do not know where to start ... with a top rated hotel like this, you expect the hotel to be nice, but this hotel is over the top down to the most minute details. What you don’t expect is what separates this hotel from all the others ... the employees. They are all so personal, nice, and act like they have known you for years. The employees are not stuffy. Either Ali or Harrison are at the front desk all the time and seem to know everything that is going on. Security makes you feel extremely safe. The housekeeping does not just keep the room nice, but also picks up after your personal items. When they noticed additional suitcases on the floor, they brought in extra luggage racks without being asked. They left a bookmark on top of a book my son left out and a screen cleaner on top of a laptop. The way the room is furnished, it is very inviting for relaxing. Furnished with automatic heavy drapes that do not let any light in. I could write volumes, but just suffice it to say that this hotel is set apart from any other. It’s not just a hotel, but an experience!

their website has pretty generous discounts but even the rack rate has migrated from $1000 down to $440 so probably you could do better than that, I'm guessing. Dean
