The front desk staff is very friendly and nice. They were very helpful since before I reserved the hotel room, I had questions regarding the parking and they explained everything. The rooms are big, super clean and the beds are very comfortable. There is a rate that includes parking, it is a very good deal, considering that most of the nearby hotels doesn’t have their own parking spaces. You can go in and out as many times as you need. The breakfast is good too, restaurant staff is very nice. Location is good. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We needed to request a room change at night due to the noise of a construction in front of the hotel, Rebecca was very helpful and understanding.

I had to do some unexpected and slightly long travel to attend to some business issues and board meetings. I wasn’t sure what to expect during this very strange time while traveling with the COVID pandemic. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the Washington Plaza Hotel. The staff at the front desk (Sheila, Rebecca, Jim, Lauren) was very friendly and it always helped having them start my complex days off by greeting me with a cheerful good morning and hello. They were always wanting to make sure all my needs were met. They had great recommendations for restaurants and always offered to arrange travel accommodations. Since I usually was stuck in an office all day I wanted the time outside, so they always gave me a map and drew me directions to the restaurant. Due to the pandemic, housekeeping was not a daily unless requested, but the staff always asked if I desired it and housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the room feeling clean and fresh. Business is definitely hectic right now especially with a pandemic. Thank you Washington Plaza Hotel, Sheila, Rebecca, Jim, Lauren, and housekeeping for making it easier. I will definitely be returning and recommending you to fellow business associates and family.

I did my usual search of central Washington hotels and this stood out for its good reviews and lower prices. I was not disappointed. Reception staff were very friendly and accommodating and rooms are large and overlook the pool and distant roundabout. Bathrooms are also very large. There are two metro lines within easy walk and both will take you to/from Ronald Reagan Airport, Breakfast was good and there are several eating opportunities nearby.

Well I made a reservation with booking.com and the idiot of a agentnwent and canceled my reservation when I specifically told him not to and I would handle a room change at the property in person. So that ties up the money I had already spent on the room which basically made me pay double untill my refund comes back. That's completely messed up my plans  for tbe family in DC cutting our spending money in half.

As for the hotel it's much further from all the attractions than you realize and walking is a task especially since every street looks the same we ended up getting lost twice for a total of 3 hours in the blistering sun.  The pool is really nice and clean the only downside was that it's a heated pool which is not preferable after coming in from 99 degree weather. I got a superior queen room with balcony and let's say it's literally almost a closet. The bed was not a queen but a full although it was comfortable it definitely was advertised wrong and made for a terrible night of sleep. The balcony overlooks the pool but the door definitely needs refurbished as anytime you open it the room door would slam shut. The walls are paper thin and there's a huge gap between the Dorr and the floor so you can hear any and everything going on in the hotel. The bathroom is bigger than the actual room but had the same toilets you see at sports arenas. The toilets your flush with your foot.

Housekeeping was good but for some reason they took it upon themselves to move all my things and line them up against the wall categorized. All my things including our suitcases, UNDWERWEAR, shoes, colognes etc! They should not be touching your private belonging only cleaning around them. The food is crazy expensive we didn't even give it a try.

The front desk people were nice except for one 20 something white girl with tattoos everywhere on her body who would not give me the total price she was charging for the room.  Parking is like 43 a day but you can come and go as you please. The access cards are worthless and I had to have mine replaced 5 times many times leaving my family sitting in the hallways after long days waiting to get in. The gym is nice but old and is int he basement
I'm still waiting on my security deposit to be returned to me to see if this place tries to scam you like most when you check out.

All in all its a OK hotel definitely wouldn't be my first choice if I go again given the distance and the decor. They need to have all the charges outlined and visitors should not have to wait days after checking out to see what the security deposit is! It's like they are using our security deposits as a line if credit for themselves which is ridiculous because that hotel was packed and bringing in bouku money

Very good quality vs price ratio to stay in a visit to DC. Big and clean room, maybe needing renovation in the bathroom. Very friendly staff. The location required some 20 minute walking to the main touristic areas but it is well worth it.

The staff from the moment of check in to departure are all so friendly and helpful regardless of their role. I stay in many hotels and have never had such a universal helpful and friendly response. I would like to mention in particular Sarah, Carlos and Sharda who work in bar / restaurant. Their professional, friendly and helpfulness makes it a lovely and cosy place (especially if sitting beside the fire) to have a drink or meal.

I am a coeliac and gf options are now marked on the menu. As a coeliac I am delighted when staff understand the need for caution around cross contamination often speakinb directly to kitchen when placing an order. They ensured that I ate very safely in the hotel.

The hotel is in a very central location with easy access to public transport and within walking distance of many attractions.

It meets all the expectations of a hotel of that category. I love that it is possible to open a window in the bedroom as fewer hotel rooms have this feature.

It is the staff however that makes it a wonderful place to stay in DC and I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when I am in DC.

Thanks to all the team for an enjoyable stay.

It's an older building that could use a nice update to things. I think for the location, it's a great bargain. It's located just outside Logan Circle on 14th street and you can do a straight shot walk to the Washington Monument in 10-15 minutes which is nice. You have McPherson Square Metro 3 block away as well as Starbucks. Whole Foods is also two block West. Parking is really convenient and fair price ($43/night with unlimited entry/exit). The hotel kitchen is actually really good. I had one of the best burgers ever from them. The downsides is noise travels easily through the walls but you can quell this with the fan function. Just have to hope you have quiet neighbors. The bathrooms don't have a fan function. You can hear the loud flushes from adjacent rooms. Doors slam pretty hard but during the night, most people are sleeping. I thought the bed sheets were a little old and kind of dirty but it didn't bother me so much. The staff is wonderful and hard working. I LOVE their commitment to service. I think if you are on a budget, this place is great. It's a bit far from the National Mall but not far from the Metro and it's a $10 cab ride to the reflection pond. I'd stay there again even with some of the shortcomings. For the price, it's really good and the parking arrangement is fair!

I had stayed at the Washington Plaza about four years ago. Some when I found out last month that I would be in Washington DC for nine days, I obviously made my reservation there. Like last time I was extremely pleased with the service and the hotel. All the staff from the front desk to maintenance and housekeeping are polite and professional. When I had a very minor issue with my shower faucet and I reported it to the front desk maintenance had come up literally within minutes fix it quickly and correctly. The entire hotel is very clean and neat. I had daily housekeeping and I don’t know how they made the bed. It was always so nice and barely a wrinkle on the sheets. I hated to sit down or lay down on it but I did have to go to bed sometime. I got a great rate because it was in the middle of December and also they had a seven day promotion. But one thing I like most about the Washington Plaza is they do not charge one of those ridiculous destinations or amenity fees that seem to be the trend now with so many hotels. I highly recommend this place. Oh some people I have said the hotel looks dated, but I actually like the 1970s colors and theme.

We booked 6 nights in a Queen with balcony.

We arrived late (around 11:40pm) and had been moved to a King with balcony as they had oversold the Queens.

We had room 230 which is above the roof of the restaurant.

Room dated but comfortable.

No bottled water due to Covid.

Room is basic with a small tv that does not play movies from a USB stick.

Small mini fridge for storing stuff.

No usb charging points.

Soap not shower gel in shower.

In hindsight, we would not get a room with a balcony as A) A lot more money vs the basic Queen, and B) when we dared to ask for a late checkout, we were told these rooms were the most popular, so no - You can’t have a late check out.

We ate out most times.

We did try the breakfast in the hotel, but the service was sketchy - Food was cold when it came, toast was like cardboard, ordered white toast and got wheat.
Never got offered juice

Maid service twice left us with no coffee or tea.

We returned late one evening to find we were out and they had not restocked.

It took around 30 minutes between us calling reception and getting it.

The pool area was the best part of the hotel, plenty of beds and fresh towels.

But there are a lot of biting insects around not only the hotel, but also most of dC.

This is why having a balcony was a mistake.

Unless you bring lots of deet spray, then you are going to get bitten - A lot.

So it is the little things like granting 1 extra hour etc that proves they don’t really value the customer

We booked this hotel an hour or so before checking in due to being suddenly displaced from our home in DC due to a maintenance issue. We were quite literally out on the streets in the middle of heatwave. Given these circumstances, we did not look closely at reviews etc, because if we had, we would not have booked here.

The hotel is extremely dated - tiny rooms, mold in the bathroom tile, the bed (which I sat on for all of 5 minutes) was hard as a rock and there were buckets collecting dripping ceiling water in the hallways! All of this we could have dealt with, but we unfortunately felt unsafe in the rooms.

There are no deadbolts, interior latches or chains on the room doors! I have traveled to dozens of countries in the last 20 years and never stayed in a hotel where this was the case before. The only safety was the electronic lock. As a young woman staying alone in a hotel room, this was absolutely a no-go for me. Not only that, but my door had about a 1/2 inch gap that I could see out into the hallway through, because it didn't sit properly in the frame!

After expressing concerns to reception, they moved me to a new room without a gap in the door, but I and my party still did not feel safe. We went back to reception to discuss if there were further safety measures they could put in place and were met with incredibly rude dismissiveness of our concerns and literal blank stares from one of the staff.

Then manager Joy was brought over to speak to us, and let me tell you - Joy was an absolute JOY of a human being. If I could rate Joy alone, I would give 5 stars! Joy listened to our concerns, offered solutions, and ultimately was able to cancel our stay so that we could book at a new hotel we felt safe at.

Joy was empathetic when we just needed a kind word after the harrowing few hours we had been through. I am so thankful Joy was there to assist us. Joy is a ROCKSTAR.

If you do stay at this hotel, ask for Joy when you check in!
