The Kapalua Villas are quite exposed to the wind on the northwest coast of Maui but they are clean, well-kept condos with incredible views and easy access to the coast and golf courses. The wind at times was so strong we couldn't enjoy our balcony deck, but the weather is out of our control as well as the property's. When the wind was calm, we could see humpback whales in the distance in the ocean, which was a treat! The villa property was quiet and calm, and there is a good selection of restaurants on the property. My one complaint is about the shuttle service, which they charge you for as part of your rental fee, which was late and our contact at the main office did not keep us informed of its timing. One of the shuttles broke down and they did not call to inform us, which left us having to take our own vehicle to the restaurant. If they're going to include a charge for the shuttle, they should do a better job of servicing guests with it.

We booked a Ridge villa for 3 nights as our first taste of Hawaii. We were not sure what to expect as this was not our first choice of accommodation but we were pleasantly surprised.
Kapalua is about an hour's drive from the airport so was about $110 in a taxi. It is at the north west of the island and there was a strong wind every day which you should bear in mind.
Reception was very welcoming and check in was a very smooth process. Now a warning, there are significant additional charges added to your accommodation cost. With the mandatory cleaning charge, the resort fees and the damage protection charge this equated to over $500 in additional cost which is taken from your credit card at check in. We were notified of these charges by our travel company beforehand but remember to read the small print otherwise they could come as a bit of shock.
Our villa was set on a hillside overlooking the ocean and has fantastic views. It was a one bedroom villa and we could not believe the size. There was an open plan lounge, kitchen, dining area with access to the balcony which ran the full length of the villa. There was a large double bedroom with a huge bed and it's own small balcony with a large ensuite bathroom with walk in shower, wc and two sinks and there was also a separate shower room with wc as well. The kitchen was a full size one with coffee maker, kettle, and all the necessary utensils and crockery so you could cater for yourself if you wished.
The villas are surrounded by championship golf courses so everywhere is quite a walk away. The shop and some of the restaurants are about a 20 minute walk and the beaches are about 10 minutes walk away. The shop was well stocked and there were two very nice Italian restaurants but be warned the restaurants are expensive and you should book in advance. We had a lovely meal on the first night but it was over $100 for the two of us.
With hindsight, I would have hired a car so that we could see more of the surrounding area but with only 3 nights we just went and relaxed on the beach or by the pool which was next door to our villa.
Overall, wonderful accommodation with fantastic views but expensive and not a lot around the immediate area.

I booked 2414 Ridge rd for a family of 5 through Costco as a package deal. They said it was a partial ocean view, 2bdrm gold. Upon arrival, the property was beautifully landscaped and we were right next to the pool. Upon entering we were blown away and they exceeded our expectations . The views of the ocean was spectacular, we watched the sunset and each bedroom had their own lani a and bathrooms. Plenty of room for everyone and lots of games to pass the time. The Gold villas are newly renovated. Costco was clear about the extra $332 cleaning fee so we expected it. Restaurants on the property were 4star quality. Maui can be expensive especially this area but the Honolulu General store has good food for cheap. I got the Loco moco with pork - a local dish of kalua pork over jasmine rice , brown gravy and an egg on top for only $13. Coffee, snack and wine selection was convenient to have on property also. It was a short walk to the beach. I would definitely recommend my villa and return there next time I go.

I don't know how this resort received a 4 star rating. Even Costco where I booked this resort gave it a 4+. We booked a gold ocean view ridge unit from Costco. The first thing that happened when we walked in the door to register, we got hit up for a $600 resort and cleaning fee for a 7 day stay. How does it cost $250 plus tax to clean a 1 bedroom condo? As for the resort fee, that is getting to be an insustry standard. Hawaii taxes absolutely everything that has to do with tourism. The staff was very good and helpfull. No problems there. The condo itself was not very good. The sliding patio door would not open. The ceiling fan did not work. The dishwasher was rusty inside and only worked some of the time. (Once out of 3 trys). One of the toilets had a bad flush valve. Would not fill the tank every time. Both bathrooms need to be gutted and redone. Whoever owns this unit needs to spend some cash and make it a little more livable. I was told each unit is indidually owned. The resort is old. Circa 1970-1980. Repairs do not seem to be kept up. Furnishings were very old and run down. Thrift store quality.
On the plus side, the view of the bay was spectacular. We watched wales every day.

Thought I was getting a great deal of $609 for 2 night. When I go to check in I get slapped with additional fees. Total comes out to over $1020. For that price I could have stayed at Wailea or somewhere else. On top of that issues with checking in. Room not ready. Told it should be ready by 1pm. It’s now 2:05pm and they are still trying to verify if the room is ready. If I could give it ZERO stars I would. $290 in hidden fees that were not conveyed when I booked for cleaning I better not find one speck of dust in the room when I finally get
To it. Super disappointed that trip advisor can’t or won’t do more to help the situation. I’m a Friggen plus member too and basically got screwed. Non refundable booking so I basically was held by the balls to pay the additional fees or lose the $600 I was already charged. I highly doubt that I’ll be coming back here ever again. Wanted to try somewhere different and this is what I get. S

In case you're wondering what happened to that couch that you and your five roommates put out on the sidewalk after graduation, hoping somebody would haul it off, we found it at the Kapalua Villas Maui. This resort is operated by outrigger resorts and on their website they describe the accommodations as "upscale". Our unit, at least, was far from upscale. Paint was peeling off the dirty walls, the windows were old and dirty with the screens falling out, and the furniture was old, dated, and ratty. The kitchen appliances were ancient. There was water dripping from the top of the refrigerator onto our food. The patio furniture was falling apart and some of it was unusable. When we called management because our internet wasn't working someone did come to fix it right away. He said it wasn't working because the owners hadn't paid the bill. So apparently these units are individually owned. However I believe they should all be held to a certain standard. I've never stayed in an outrigger resort before and have to say I never will again.

The reason I did give it two stars, and not one, is because the grounds are well kept and lovely. The pools were nice. Management was very pleasant and easy to work with. The views were spectacular.

One thing to keep in mind is that Kapalua is windier than you might find on the rest of the island. All of Maui was windy while we were there but it was a lot better if we went further south, even to napili.

The villas are old and is need of repair and a major remodel. The carpets are dirty and the furniture was saggy, dirty, and torn. We were move to a slightly better unit the next day but it was also dusty, musty, and rusty. We were told that we had booked a standard room and not “gold”. That was the explanation for the terrible unit conditions. We purchased air freshener and disinfecting wipes to clean up the place.
The staff was receptive to our concern but there was not much they could do give the condition of the units. Shame on you agoda! Agoda is the managing company.

More like 3.5 stars
Stayed in a 2 bed 2 bath golf villa in summer 2022
If I came to Maui again would definitely consider staying in the same villa but would also look at all my options before booking again.

Pros:
great views, beautiful grounds, clean, overall well maintained but with some exceptions noted below, comes with some cleaning items (for dishwasher, dishes, and washer) and plenty of cutlery, cookware, and dishes, close to Lahaina and kapalua beach which is great for snorkeling, great pool that was hardly ever busy. Also they are very responsive to emails and phone calls during normal business hours.

Cons and reasons to remove 1.5 stars:

1) broken items in the room: sofa bed was broken so couldn’t be used, one of the towel racks was broken and fell off (had to get them to fix it) and the sliding door in the 2nd bedroom wouldn’t lock. They didn’t fix this last item but we figured the chances of a break in were small.
2) price is not worth the villa. For over $1000 a night (due to so many taxes and crazy fees) I expected better.
3) the shuttle service number didn’t work when we needed it. The welcome email talks about the service but then when the shuttle service phones aren’t working and no one can get a hold of them, Outrigger says they don’t manage it. We initially had our relative drive us to Fleming beach then expected to call the shuttle to get back. Well we (myself, 4 year old daughter, and 66 year old mother) ended up having to walk 1.5 miles with 2 beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and all our stuff, which wasn’t easy since it is up hill. The least outrigger can do is warn you in the welcome email not to depend on the service since it isn’t reliable. Oh and we couldn’t take Uber due to no car seat.
4) Although the unit was quite clean, the fabric shower curtain in the 2nd bedroom was quite moldy on the bottom (since it was too long and always got soaked when the shower was used) to where you could smell mildew when you showered. Why not just use a waterproof curtain?

I bought this family trip "Kapalua Villas on the ridge, Gold Ocean View" from Costco Travel Website and they have a full size car included in their deal which is very convenient.
We arrived around 11:00 pm to Maui airport and I picked up the car and we headed to 300 Kapalua dr (the reception office) as we were directed through the email by Costco Travel. Around 12:00 am we arrived at the reception office and the office was closed. I found an envelope with my name on the door which was directing us to the villa with room no and parking stall no but there was no code/key to enter to the villa. So I called the after hours number on the door to get the code to the villa. Russel Picked up the phone, without saying Hi or Hello, he asked me if I am at the Golf resort or ...or.....; I did not know those places and I answered "I am at the reception office". Then he yelled at "That is not the answer to my question if you don't answer the question I can't help you". Eventually after giving me a bad headache he gave me the code to the villa.
Next morning I went to the office to pay the cleaning fee (300$ plus tax). I let them know about my conversation with Russel and they mentioned they are not with us and it is another company which takes care of after hours!
The two bedroom villa and the view (I have attached a photo) was just amazing . I found the area/resort/pool/appliances very clean and convenient for family trips.
Overall I would not like to go back and I would not recommend this place!

Maui residents & businesses still hurting from Covid and are desperate. The views were amazing & the golf was fantastic for an avid golfer. Everything else was cringe worthy aside from a couple solid meals. The workers at Kapalua restaurants lack the typical customer service techniques prior to Covid. They had a very "take it or leave it" attitude even when just asking for a reservation or if walk-ins are welcomed. According to regular goers we dined with, the menus have been greatly reduced, which is understandable for the times, but at least have a smile on your face and enhance customer service.

The Kapalua Villa Covid cleaning charge is horrific. Due to delays in checking out, we revisited our villa to kill time, but within an hour of us leaving, again not officially checked out, the cleaning employees entered our villa and cleaned the villa. Again, attitude was not the best as we asked if we could go back in and they responded with saying we would be charged another cleaning fee. For almost $300, an hour of cleaning is definitely not worth it and won't stop Covid if that is your concerns. On top of it, it was discovered that this cleaning employee stole my wife's passport the day before while we were out and we conveniently recovered it after her manager spoke with her about it though the front desk had called 10 minutes earlier inquiring about it in our presence.

Overall, a sketchy time visit to supposedly a highly ranked facility. Spending the extra money to stay at the Ritz or Montage may be the better play, but overall the Maui residents appear to be desperate coming out of Covid.
