It is an average hotel. I actually expected more. Some employees tread you really nice and some others not so much.

We went on new years Eve and we wanted to skip the dinner package. However we ordered something around 7ish p.m. the pizza promo. The person in charge was very rude to my gf and shut down the phone without asking anything other than the room number for billing porpuses. I know the feeling of pressure but I don't think it will justify being rude to a customer. We end up calling uberEats and spend less than the hotel restaurant price.

To summarize our experience. The place is kinda nice. Most of the employees are decent but if we ever go again. I will either order UberEats or just bring my own food.

We were here a few years ago and found the Martino perfect for us. That trip we took some local tours to the Paos Valley and San Jose. It is close to the airport, easy to find by car and close to most major roads in Costa Rica. Room was spacious, all done in natural wood. I do not get the negative reviews. It is extremely clean, beautiful pool, wonderful staff, budget friendly and a lovely breakfast with fruit, juices and hot breakfast of your choice cooked to order. It's not the great resort you may have in mind, more of a great boutique hotel for a short stay. I'll be back.

This is a nice hotel. As a stop over near San Jose airport it’s really good. Lovely pool and garden, nice breakfast, large comfortable rooms and good value. As you first stop or last on a trip o Costa Rica you would be hard pressed to find better at this price.

Am greatly enjoying my stay in Costa Rica and here in lovely La Garita at the Martino Hotel. The hotel itself is quite special -- guests stay in separate tile-roofed buildings spread across the lush, green grounds. I imagine that the views from each room must be quite unique and special. It was so enjoyable sitting and reading on the deck outside my room watching the nearby bamboo forest sway in the gentle wind while listening to the fascinating calls of many species of birds perched in the many species of trees.

Extra 5 stars and muchas gracias to the very helpful and friendly staff whose efficiency really impressed me (the hotel was hosting a conference when I stayed there in event space not far from my room, so I could witness first hand how hard the hotel team was working).

grounds of the resort are well maintained and tranquil. certainly a great value for the price and perfect for the night of arrival to CR or prior to departure. about 15 minutes from the airport.
if your looking a luxury property, this is likely not for you. the interior of the rooms/Villa's are a bit dated, but very adequate.

the pool is great and the onsite Italian restaurant is great.

a hidden gem.

We spent June 11-15th at Club Martino Resort and Spa. Because we booked it through Expedia we couldn't check-out earlier without losing money. We came really close though. The rate was $107 a night. Don't spend a penny more. If you like the outdoor, woody, almost camping feel, then this is the hotel for you. The amenities, such as fresh sheets, complimentary water, and other basics were non-existent. The rooms were spacious, damp and dreary. There were bugs everywhere even roaches, the sheets where thin and worst of all the a/c, which works occasionally, is on a timer. The included breakfast is not worth your time, it is also frequented by many flies. Room service is just okay, the best thing was the bread. The pool was not what it appeared to be on the website and there wasn't a Jacuzzi. The gym was nice and the spa treatments were good, but there were none of the usual spa amenities. The staff was very friendly; the owner however is an arrogant man who thinks his hotel is the Bellagio. He, however is highly mistaken. He is a MICROMANAGER to the tee. The highlight of our stay was leaving. I would never go back.

Having just returned from a truly terrible expereince at Resort Martino I wish to stay anonymous so that the poor bride and groom who had their wedding there new years eve will not know who I am-
The food at this "5 Star Resort" was practically inedible- the wedding feast of filet mignon and fish went uneaten by the nearly 100 guests - the pork served at midnite- charred on the outside raw on the inside- and who has ever heard of a bad wedding cake? We had cardboard with icing-bad icing.
The staff was wonderful but overtaxed-they worked grueling 20 hour days - Guests were indulgent as we all saw how hard they worked even though we often received someone else's meal. It didn't matter as the food was truly the worst I've ever experienced. The mostly Italian guests were appalled at the poor quality.
Not only can you have bad food but you can have your possesions and money stolen from your room as I and several other guests did. When confronted the owner shrugged and said he has a problem but we should have watched our possesions- the money my fault- but my designer shoes????
At no time did the owner apologize for the electricity and water coming and going- yes it is to be expected in this region- but a few small gestures of graciousness would have gone along way in assauging angry feelings of the guests- he was just plain arrogant!

We took our 14 year old grandson to Costa Rica to see the Rainforest. We chose Club Martino for its location and ambiance. My grandson, Cory loved the nature walk, the activities, pool, internet and game room. I was made to feel special at the SPA and the resort. The owner, Adriano Martino, and his staff was extremly welcoming, helpful and catered to our every need. Even though the beds were not our "pillow top" at home, they were comfortable. The room was spacious even tho we have extra bed for Cory. I would highly recommend Club Martino. I personally felt the food was extremly good, service excellent.

I am in a wheelchair and I was never made to feel disabled. Their treatment of me was special and appreciated. I have never felt so "welcomed" by a hotel staff. FIVE STARS TO CLUB MARTINO

What a great place to stay! The employees were so nice and the place is beautiful. We stayed there our first and last night in Costa Rica and it was such a great idea. The food was better than average, but the grounds are unbelievable. Highly recommended for anyone staying in or around the San Jose/Alajuela area.

My husband and I stayed here to stay out of the main city thinking it would be safer and we could get massages on our last day of travel. We scheduled massages which and they only had a massage scheduled for him, not for me. Only one person spoke a little English at the front desk and she wasn't there at the time to discuss. The housekeeping staff has a master key to your lock box rendering it useless. We had issues with it and they had to come and reset it. We had someone call twice and hang up in the evening and later someone used a key to enter out hotel room and run down the hall before we could catch them (we were in the hotel room at the time and they probably noticed the light from the tv and ran off). When we checked out they had an additional restaurant receipt for a meal we didn't have with our hotel room hand written on the top. We tried to tell the man at the front desk about the issues above and he seemed concerned but not too surprised. My husband speaks a little Spanish but almost no one there speaks English at all. I would've preferred to stay overnight in a chair at the airport than to stay here again. I didn't feel safe and they tried to overcharge us intentionally . Another review stated to check your bill over as they like to overcharge rich international travelers. If you wanted to be robbed come stay here.
