We stayed at the Villa San Michelle for 3 nights at the start of August and WOW what an incredibly beautiful place. Every inch of detail in this marvellous setting is perfection. The views are breathtaking, the gardens are spectacular and the rooms are wonderful. The staff are warm, friendly and extremely hospitable. They always greet you with a warm smile and will go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect. The sunbathing terrace at the bottom is delightful, you can relax and take in the beautiful scenery of the Almalfi. We cannot wait to go back and couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. An absolutely gem of a hotel in this amazing part of the world. Thank you San Michele for a truly memorable experience.

We are so lucky to have found this hotel a few years ago and just have to keep returning. No other stay has been in such a truly beautiful location overlooking sparkling clear seas from all its 12 rooms. This hotel is family owned and you can tell that all the family and staff really care about making all guests feel very welcome and are very willing to give any helpful advice you may need on visiting
other places in the area or even arranging a taxi to take you and from the airport which we have used many times. It is a truly relaxing holiday here and each evening we look forward to having our 3 course delicious freshly home cooked meal, happily served by Francesco who is the owners son and Francesco who has also been here many years. We have always booked direct as it is really easy and have already re-booked for next year! If you love swimming directly in the sea, lovely food, comfortable rooms and friendly staff who are all working so hard to keep this beautiful hotel and gardens in top class condition then try to book us you will certainly enjoy your stay.

We've just spent two fantastic nights at the Hotel Villa San Michele and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The care taken by the team is second to none and you can see how proud they are of the fantastic property and hotel they have created.

Before we arrived, I had a few questions for Francesco and Nicola and both were very, very helpful in answering them. The trip was for a special occasion and the team went beyond the call of duty to make it absolutely unforgettable for us.

All main Amalfi towns/villages can be easily reached by bus so the location of the hotel is perfect.

The food and drink in the hotel was locally sourced and was the best food we'd had on the trip, having stayed in Sorrento and Capri for the previous nights.

I will be recommending this hotel to my family and friends because I know I will not be let down.

A truly memorable stay and a big thank you to Francesco and his family for making our last two nights so special.

I look forward to visiting again soon.

This is one of those reviews that I am reluctant to do in case I can’t get a reservation again..it was hard enough to get the one I had.

The hotel is as pretty as the photos and everyone connected with it works really hard, takes pride and wants to make your stay special.

This is NOT a a place if you are physically challenged as there are steps everywhere. It is also not a place for someone who is looking for a 5 star hotel BUT it is a place for those who are looking for something special. There are some things that are imperfect (tiny bathrooms in some cases and ancient hairdryers ) but what IS perfect is the views, the swimming, the food and the incredible family and staff.

I wasn’t sure how I would feed about her board after having had a poor experience in another European country - but this was a great offering and we were more than happy.

We so enjoyed our sunset aperitivo, our incredible meals every night, the views and our daily swims. Once we worked out the ‘cut through’ to Amalfi (maybe a map on arrival??) walking there became easier. We walked…and walked! If you want to bus up to Ravello and the day you want to do it is Sunday…make sure you buy your tickets from the bar over the road on Saturday. One day we walked to Minori, had lunch and caught the Ferry back to Amalfi just to see the hotel from the sea.

We certainly want to return and will happily recommend this hotel to friends and family.

This hotel has a family run feel, and their kindness and attention to detail did not disappoint.
We had half board, and so enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The food was impeccable- every evening they had a set menu with 2 choices which I felt meant that all the ingredients were fresh and the dishes made with the utmost care. The chef made beautiful food every evening.
The view of the sea is unmatched; there is a little concrete deck where they put out chairs and a set of stairs for you to get in the water.
The location is walking distance to Amalfi and also the villages nearby- Minori and Māori. The hotel staff would assist us in the best route to take.

I would highly recommend a stay here for a couple of nights while exploring the area- the only complaint (and I must say it was very minor for us) was that the bar before dinner was somewhat limited (in that it did not open until maybe 6? As it was in the restaurant) although this was down to it being family run so I cannot complain properly here.

Wonderful, caring staff and a memorable stay. Thank you!

My husband and I spent four nights here at the start of a 3+ week trip. The idea was to have a lovely place to relax and recover from a transatlantic flight. Villa San Michele was a perfect choice! Not only is the setting remarkably idyllic but the people who run it - owners, waiter, cleaning person, and security guard - were all wonderfully kind, gracious, and helpful. We found it quite relaxing to have our breakfast and dinner at the hotel and the food was very good. The photos on the hotel website accurately depict the rooms. While ours (#118) wouldn’t win any style awards, it was spacious, clean and comfortable. We were delighted to have floor to ceiling windows/door across one end of the room and a very large patio on the side. It was hard to be motivated to go and do anything! Having said that, we did visit Paestum and thought it was fabulous. We also took a full day boat tour from Amalfi to Capri and thought it was a waste of time and money.

The setting of this hotel combined with the wonderful family that runs it makes staying here a really unique and amazing experience. It sits clinging to the cliffs well below the road and offers beautiful views of the sea and Amalfi coastline, comfortable rooms, genuine hospitality and an excellent restaurant. Highly recommended.

Villa San Michele is a magical place! My husband and I spent 4 nights here and we just had an amazing time! The property itself is gorgeous and well taken care of! Beautiful setting with great lounging areas in their garden with the best views of the Mediterranean Sea. The best part of this hotel is that there is an area to layout and steps directly to the water. We went during the low season so we always had a seat available. The rooms are small and the shower is very very tiny. If you are more than 5'5" tall and a wide person, it could be challenging. The balcony and views though totally makes up for it! This place is ran more like a Bed & Breakfast rather than a hotel so that makes the experience very intimate. It's a family run business and everyone you come in contact with is soooo gracious and kind. Niccoli and his sons Andrea and Francesco were all so accommodating and helpful!

If you get the breakfast package, just be prepared to have the same dishes so it could get a bit boring.

The location for us was perfect! It's not in Amalfi where all the restaurants and shops are but it's only a 15 minute walk downhill. The SITA buses are the best way to go from town to town.

We can't way to return! Grazie mille Villa San Michele!

We stayed at this lovely hotel for four nights and it wasn't long enough! This family run hotel is situated on a cliff right over the water which meant it was quiet and had the most incredible views from our room, the lemon cove and the restaurant. The food and service in the restaurant was fantastic and it was so dreamy to watch the boats go by and the lights on the shore come on at night. The cleaning ladies were some of the nicest I have met in all my travels. Amalfi is a short walk away but we also enjoyed visiting nearby Atrani and Minori that were less touristy. Because this is a historic hotel on a cliff there were plenty of stairs which we didn't mind. Thank you Villa San Michele for the great stay!

We stayed for a week at this wonderful family run hotel and just cannot fault the exceptional service that Nicola and his team provide here. From the moment we arrived it was clear that the happiness of the guests is what they care most about. The lovely cleaning lady was so sweet and speaks far better English than we do Italian, as the staff do. Antonio runs the superb restaurant with great humour and all the staff were very helpful with suggestions as to the best places to visit in the area. We were a bit unlucky with the weather for the time of year but that's the way it goes sometimes. This is a very special hotel and they are doing a great job in making it a safe place during Covid 19. Thank you all. Xxx

Dear Margo , from the hotel to Amalfi is only 1 km. 20 minute walking on the seaside part of the road , there a few path but are much more long time to reach Amalfi , otherwise by public bus in 10 minutes you are in Amalfi , the stopped of the bus is a 20 meters from the hotel .

Hi Past guests and hotel staff - can you give any further advice about Hotel Villa San Michele? to help us plan our holiday in the area for September 2-19 My wife and I plan to stay in or near Amalfi for 6 nights in early September 2019 (as part of a holiday Amalfi area 6 nights>Capri 3 nights>Naples 5 nights). This will be our first visit to the area. We’re active 60s-year olds, looking forward to walking and sightseeing, and we’ll be coming by public transport, arriving and returning from UK via Naples airport. In our first 6 days, we want to explore Amalfi and area, see Ravello, Positano and tackle some of the good walks if possible eg behind Amalfi also possibly ‘the walk of the gods’. At the end of the 6 days we'll be catching ferry to Capri (Before reading the great reviews of Villa San Michele) our first thoughts were to plump for a hotel in Amalfi itself: because we think we'll want good access to the town, to walking routes, also for buses to other Amalfi coast resorts. We thought of finding an Amalfi hotel away from the most crowded spots; we don’t mind walking a bit more from the town centre to get there. We’d never considered ‘Hotel Villa San Michele ‘! as we thought it might be a bit remote for access for what we want to do, also it seems to back onto a main road However - - now after reading the reviews, we are thinking of ‘Villa San Michele’. Reviews of the hotel are all Very strong:-many of these refer to good access from the hotel for walks and to other parts of the Amalfi coast; its ranked as Tripadvisor no 1 hotel in Ravello. (Another recommendation for us is that it’s one of the few hotels in the area listed in Alistair Sawdays guide, and we’ve always found these very good) If you can add anything further on the hotel to help us with our choice – that is much appreciated! Thanks, Mike and Brid, Northwood, UK

Hi, just seen your question! Yes the meals are excellent, you have a choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses, usually fish, meat and vegetarian, the local wines are very good and not pricey, however cannot remember the exact prices, did not try the House wine. For the half board you can choose lunch or dinner.
