This hotel was recommended to me by a friend who alerted me that the venue was also an assisted living facility and that the areas would be clearly separated. Unfortunately the check in area as well as the restaurant aren't separated at all. But let me start at the beginning. I was aware that check in was at 3 but we arrived from Lucerne around 1:30 already. There was nobody at the check in desk when we reached, a lady seated 10 meters away having her lunch walked over in a bad mood and said that check in was only at 4PM. I've asked her whether they were busy and she said again "No, but check in is at 4!" So we started off on the wrong foot already. We left the car in the underground parking and went for a stroll to Interlaken which is only 10 minutes by foot. After returning to the hotel after 4PM a much friendlier lady managed the check in desk and we managed to check in for all 3 rooms within 5 minutes. All of our rooms were on the same floor, rooms are spacious and fairly well equipped. I believe that the rooms for hotel guests are indeed in a different wing then the people living in the assisted living facility but nevertheless the feeling remains like in a hospital with the showers and bathrooms resembling those found in a hospital. But the upkeep and maintenance was very good and everything was clean, so no complaints there. Breakfast was served in their restaurant which is also used by their residents, so the atmosphere wasn't inviting as such, the food was self service and not up to a hotel breakfast quality usually found in Switzerland. If you want a down to earth, fuss free experience this hotel will still tick the right boxes as the rooms are in good condition and the prices are generally okay. But if you are more cautious and are looking for a typical hotel experience, not share with an assisted living home, then you are better looking elsewhere.

Location: the location was ok. 10 minutes from the station Ost, and 15 minutes from Interlaken downtown.
Service: the service was excellent at the restaurant. At the lobby and the spa it was average. Nothing glorious but not disastrous as well. I appreciated though that when the hotel invoiced me wrongly, and I realised when I was at home already, they immediately sent me back the money by mail (they literally mailed the francs, funny they don’t use modern technology).
Food: the food was amazing, both breakfast and dinner are among the best I ever had in a hotel restaurant. Please note that from the conversation on the phone with the hotel staff, it sounded like the dinner was included in the room price and they confirmed by email, but in reality it was not..
Cleanness: everything is very clean. I haven’t seen a grain of dust!
Spa: the spa was ok. Unfortunately there was nobody welcoming the guests below, there was no available towel until we asked and they had to go find it, and you have to buy the flip flops if you want them! :-( The spa space though is quite well organised and clean, and there are all the things you expect from a spa in terms of services (gamma, sauna, jacuzzi, sleep chairs). The jacuzzi is individual, never seen that before, and works with a coin they give you at the reception. Unfortunately the machine “eat” one of our coins because we put it in too early. The explanation were only in German.. Also, I was not told that in the spa you can take shower and there is a hairdryer, so I organised myself to go back to the room but I was only with a mini towel (they don’t even give you bathrobes).
Spaces: The hotel is very big, it has a large eating room and the rooms are super nice. Mine also had a terrace. Too bad I asked for a double as I was with a friend, and we ended up on a room with a big bed for 2.

The hotel is quiet, peacefully located about 10 mins walk from the town centre. The place is like a Nursing Home layout. The halls and elevators are wide and large. The rooms are wheelchair friendly and spacious in size. The amenities are complete and the place very clean. Only negative is there is no Room Air con or temperate control. It is summer hence a bit of a problem.

Room spacious and clean. Feels new. Nice little balcony.
Very good breakfast.
First class spa/ sauna. Only issue is the Turkish bath is not warm enough.
Hotel is only 10 min walk from the city center, and there is bus stop right in front the hotel if you d rather take the bus.

Very modern look, somewhat sterile seeming, in keeping with it sharing facilities with a care home. However, the staff was very warm and welcoming, and the location was perfect for easy access to the Interlaken Ost train station for our trip to Jungfraujoch. Also easy walking distance to many restaurants and to the funicular railway up to the Harder-Kulm.

Though it seemed a bit incongruous to the care home setting, it was possible to be served beer, wine or a limited selection of cocktails in the common area. You could also bring in food or have pizza delivered, to enjoy in the common area.

Clean large lovely rooms, beautiful views BUT it’s in an old persons home with an extension made for some hotel rooms, breakfast is very hospital like. It feels like a hospital the atmosphere around the hotel is not what we were looking for on holiday.

We tried to change our booking where hotels.com and the hotel were very accommodating however last minute was difficult to get something reasonably priced. So little more clear communication would have saved a lot of hassle.

Stayed with my friends in Oct 2022. A 12-15min walk from Interlaken Station (with luggages) and its a very peaceful stay as its filled with spaces. Breakfast selection is very good and healthy. Walking to other restaurants will take 10 minutes and many options.

I loved this place. First of all, it is a nice, modern, clean hotel. Good location. Green and surrounded by rabits and goats. What I liked most is that it’s also a place for the elderly and for those who need support. It was so nice to share the same space with them, to receive a warm “guten morgen” from the other guests and to feel grounded. The staff was always smiling and friendly. I am thankful.

Visited Hotel Artos with my family (spouse and 2 boys) from INDIA in May 2024. I was here for 3 nights. The place in around 1 km from Interlaken OST station and bus is available at every 30 min. There is bus stop just outside the Hotel. If required you can walk also to/from OST it is just 8-9 min beautiful stroll. Though was not aware, the Hotel is shared with old age home and the seniors share the Hotel and restaurant. The rooms were spacious and having balcony.
The hotel is having all modern stuff like automatic opening and closing of all the doors etc. I think this is because of Seniors. Though Old age people are sharing the facility but it is absolutely non-interfering but because of this, the environment of the Hotel is less lively. There is no separate restaurant for Coffee for even a drink. I expected some liveliness in the Hotel.
The place is very close to city center (800 mt). There is direct exit from back side of hotel to City center. Waking besides the old castle, Clock tower and a beautiful cemetery reminds scenes from a second world war movie.
The breakfast is good but remains same everyday as there is no cooked dishes served.
All in all good place but with some caveats. Choose wisely.

Its a hotel and also a home for the aged. It is a nice hotel but it has no aircon. The room has a beautiful balcony where you can see the peaceful daily life of the elderly. The hotel is very quiet and serene, a perfect place to relax and lay back after a long day.

Does rooms have a kettle and tea supply ?
Answer from Markus H
Interlaken, Switzerland
We offer family suites with two room for up to 5 Persons or twin and double rooms with connecting doors. For rates please contact us at mail@artos.ch with traveling dates and number of adults and age of children - we will then be pleased to send you a quotation. The cost for the trip to Jungfraujoch are knwon to be quite expensive - up to 200 Swiss Francs per adult person! Passes from Swiss Travel System will only be worth buying if you also railways and cable cars. We recomend you to also check other senic mountain trips like Schilthorn/Piz Gloria or Niederhorn/Beatenberg as these are much less expensive and still offer exciting excoursions and a beautifull view to the Swiss Alps! Best regards, Markus Hari, Hotelmanager
