Service: the service was excellent at the restaurant. At the lobby and the spa it was average. Nothing glorious but not disastrous as well. I appreciated though that when the hotel invoiced me wrongly, and I realised when I was at home already, they immediately sent me back the money by mail (they literally mailed the francs, funny they don’t use modern technology).
Food: the food was amazing, both breakfast and dinner are among the best I ever had in a hotel restaurant. Please note that from the conversation on the phone with the hotel staff, it sounded like the dinner was included in the room price and they confirmed by email, but in reality it was not..
Cleanness: everything is very clean. I haven’t seen a grain of dust!
Spa: the spa was ok. Unfortunately there was nobody welcoming the guests below, there was no available towel until we asked and they had to go find it, and you have to buy the flip flops if you want them! :-( The spa space though is quite well organised and clean, and there are all the things you expect from a spa in terms of services (gamma, sauna, jacuzzi, sleep chairs). The jacuzzi is individual, never seen that before, and works with a coin they give you at the reception. Unfortunately the machine “eat” one of our coins because we put it in too early. The explanation were only in German.. Also, I was not told that in the spa you can take shower and there is a hairdryer, so I organised myself to go back to the room but I was only with a mini towel (they don’t even give you bathrobes).
Spaces: The hotel is very big, it has a large eating room and the rooms are super nice. Mine also had a terrace. Too bad I asked for a double as I was with a friend, and we ended up on a room with a big bed for 2.
Very good breakfast.
First class spa/ sauna. Only issue is the Turkish bath is not warm enough.
Hotel is only 10 min walk from the city center, and there is bus stop right in front the hotel if you d rather take the bus.
Though it seemed a bit incongruous to the care home setting, it was possible to be served beer, wine or a limited selection of cocktails in the common area. You could also bring in food or have pizza delivered, to enjoy in the common area.
We tried to change our booking where hotels.com and the hotel were very accommodating however last minute was difficult to get something reasonably priced. So little more clear communication would have saved a lot of hassle.
The hotel is having all modern stuff like automatic opening and closing of all the doors etc. I think this is because of Seniors. Though Old age people are sharing the facility but it is absolutely non-interfering but because of this, the environment of the Hotel is less lively. There is no separate restaurant for Coffee for even a drink. I expected some liveliness in the Hotel.
The place is very close to city center (800 mt). There is direct exit from back side of hotel to City center. Waking besides the old castle, Clock tower and a beautiful cemetery reminds scenes from a second world war movie.
The breakfast is good but remains same everyday as there is no cooked dishes served.
All in all good place but with some caveats. Choose wisely.
