We enjoyed our two nights stay at the Santa Maria Novella Hotel - the hotel is located very well with max 10 minutes walking distance to the cathedral and main piazza of Florence. A variety of places to shop, eat and drink are all close by. Our room was very spacious and really nice, the breakfast was great. Only small complaints were that the hotel didn’t offer a place to have coffee during the day or a bar for drinks at night (rooftop was closed) although the sister hotel next door was proposed by the service as alternatives. The situation with the car is handled quite well, although for secure parking an extra charge of 35€ per day is charged (not cheap).

The hotel is beautifully furnished, in a perfect location, near the station, and not far from the centre of Florence, set in an elegant square with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and our room was extremely comfortable. The buffet breakfast had a wide range of choices and the service was very efficient. We had a room with a view which is well worth paying for and overall the hotel offers very good value for money, Highly recommended.

This hotel is situated very near to all shopping area and only 5mins or less walking to the train station. It had complete amenities, robes, slippers, shower caps, and much more. It had a small fridge and hot water carafe with coffee and tea option.
The staff are super friendly, we had to wait for our room a bit since we checked in early, we left our luggage and when we returned our room was ready and our luggage was already placed in the our room. The room we had was a double with twin size bed, we requested an additional bed for an extra 30euro per day, which is worth the convenience. The next day when we arrive from our Tuscany tour, we arrive with a nice bottle of champagne in our room. What a treat… thanks to all the staff for making our stay comfortable. The buffet breakfast was the same for all 3 days, lots of assorted pastries, fruits, cheese, jams, scrambled eggs, boiled egg, bacon. If you want a different breakfast, you can also try several restaurants in the area. There’s even a mcdonalds across the train station. Our first day , we walked to the Uffizi gallery and around the area. We had private Tuscany tour on our 2nd day and driver picked us up at the hotel, but the next day we had a tour at cinque terre and the meeting point was in front of the train station. We selected this hotel because we knew it was going to be a convenient location for shopping, tour meeting point, gallery area. We’ve stayed in many hotels around the country and definitely, this is going to be my go to hotel in Florence for it’s convenience, and services… also they are reasonably price comparable to other hotels in the area. Thanks again to all the staff.

We greatly enjoyed our 7 days at the Santa Maria Novella Hotel. The Hotel is an easy walk from the train station; there's no need to drag luggage down crowded cobble stone streets. The Plaza Santa Maria Novella is literally right across the boulevard from the train station, down a pedestrian walk way on the side of the church.
The Santa Maria Novella Hotel is a five story building at the end of the plaza. Reception staff were professional and welcoming and check-in was easy, Staff were always kind and helpful.
Our room was large and beautifully decorated with antique furnishings, several chairs, a couch and a large dresser. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean with modern amenities. We had a full view of the plaza below.
The hotel had a full bar for evening beverages and snacks. The buffet breakfast was served on the first floor with ample offerings. The kitchen provided espresso and cooked separate egg dishes upon request.
The Santa Maria Novella Hotel did not have a restaurant but there were many restaurants nearby and in the greater area. It is very important to make reservations as restaurants generally opened at 7:00 pm and were packed 15 minutes later. Getting a same day reservation was generally unlikely but a day or two in advance often worked. As an aside, La Sorbettiera, now my favorite gelato shop of all times is within a block or so of the hotel.
The Duomo is within an easy walk from the hotel as was the Ponte Vecchio. The Hotel Santa Maria Novella amplified the great time we had in Florence and I would definitely return.

Very disappointed with this Hotel compared to the many we have stayed in throughout Italy. The staff didn't seem to take an interest in the guests no chat, no restaurant advice, not promoting Florence at all. The breakfast was dreadful scrambled eggs and bacon no toast and very strange choice of croissant sticky and marmalade texture. The staff in the breakfast room where very friendly and nice. The food was overpriced as was a bottle of average wine €50 ! The rooms are very clean but small and in definite need of updating. Pink panelling over the bed drape that only collect dust and mites. Got several bites and had to go to the farmacy, no tea or coffee making facilities which are standard in the smallest of hotels. The only upside is the location. Roof top terrace closed, so should not be used as selling point or should state if available or not even for photos. We expected first class indulgence by staying here sadly that was not the case which was very disappointing as this was our first trip back to Italy since Covid shut the world down.

This is a nicely located hotel, near the train station and walkable to the bus as well. It’s walkable to the Duomo, the Galleria d’arte and the Uffizi. Breakfast was lovely but the same every day. The room was large and bathroom was great, nice robes and slippers. The hotel had an old world flair, felt like we were in Hogwarts at times because they had steps going up and down on the same floor…and we found a “room of requirement”: an unmarked unlocked room with clean towels, soap, shampoo and toilet paper! I recommend this hotel

This is a lovely small hotel overlooking the beautiful church of the same name. It was definitely worth paying for a room with a view. The breakfast was served in a fabulous domed round room and was very good served by engaging staff. We will definitely stay there if we are lucky to go again to Florence again.

I read all of the reviews before making this booking.
I was really surprised how fantastic this place is.
The staff are so welcoming and helpful. We are in room 412. Air conditioning spot on. Cleanliness outstanding. Spacious marble bathroom with bath tub and shower over the bath.
Outstanding bar on pavement/ inside. Live Jazz one night. Staff treated us like royalty. Very affordable prices. Food perfect. Cocktails wine beer all on offer.
The breakfast was excellent. Coffee Italian finest.
The location is perfect for accessing all Florence has to offer within short stroll or cab for 8 euro to Michelangelo Square.
Our room looked into a court yard which suited us because we didn’t want to open the windows and invite the mosquito in. The style is florentine traditional.
Highly recommended for affordability, location welcome and excellent bar.
Thank you

This hotel was very easy to find and only a few minutes walk to the train station so even with suitcases/roller bags it is not tough to get to the hotel if you have a few roller bags.

The staff were super and got us into our room ahead of schedule which was lovely.

It was a super location at the edge of the the central Florence...Keep for all ways of describing it. Given that there is City... around it; you are in effect in the stunning Medieval Renaissance portion of the City. Think about walking around a giant castle style city in construction.

The hotel is a bit like a maze. It is all sorts of random hallways with elevators in strange locations, and odd sets of steps. But it is actually a nice compliment to how the city is. The room was beautiful. Exactly what you would think of Italy. The bathroom was all travertine and clean. The bed was comfortable (all beds in Italy are harder than we are used to), and sheets were clean. Our room did not have a view, but that is okay since we were only there to cool off or sleep. Otherwise we were out wandering the city.

The breakfast was amazing! Super offerings. Italians do not eat much for breakfast. They gave traditional, as well as fruit salads, yogurts, breads for toasting, meats, cheeses, salad, and the traditional eggs sausage bacon.

The only thing I would say is, the bar. It was super getting to sit out on the patio and have a drink with snacks the one night. They call themselves a club but there is no place to dance. The music was obnoxiously loud. If they turned it down to half, it would have been super and we would have eaten there. But you have to yell to hear the person only a foot away.

Yes, they are super helpful. They are not guides, however so I would use something like Trip Advisor., etc and have an idea before you go about what you are interested in. I think they would be better suited to tell you which is better than the other, etc - for instance - a lot of things you can do without a guide.

Unless you are specifically looking for two bedrooms - the family room might be just fine! We easily slept three, with plenty of room for luggage and relaxation. There is a room which has a roof top spot with view. Not sure if room number. Excellent lodging choice.
