The Social Hub Florence Lavagnini hotel offers a mixed bag for travelers, with its cleanliness and room quality receiving varied reviews, although its modernity is often praised. Service experiences also range widely, from commendations for friendly staff to frustrations over unresponsiveness. The amenities, including a rooftop bar and pool, are highlights, despite some accessibility issues. Guests are charmed by the hotel's quirky atmosphere but also note its noisy vibe. The location is a plus, providing convenience to transportation and attractions. However, numerous reviewers question the value, pointing to high costs not matched by the hotel's offerings.

I stayed at The Student Hotel for 3 nights recently and overall my stay was a pleasant one.

The staff are attentive and speak English very well. The room is average, a funky design trying to atone to the student vibe but it does require better noise reduction from the street and the corridors. I was on the first floor and the work traffic woke me every morning.

The hotel has a number of amenities including a laundry service which I enquired about as I'd been travelling for a while and needed to do wash some clothes. I was informed the prices were €3.50 for a wash and €1.50 for a dry. On my second day I wondered down to do some laundry and paid the necessary amounts... however whilst I was in the laundry room I was informed by someone else staying at the hotel that the use of the washer is free after 6pm! Me specifically asking at check in about laundry to not be told this I thought was poor. It's only €3.50 but it's the principal.

I had one drink on the rooftop bar which has spectacular views over Florence but is grossly overpriced.

The hotel itself is about a 15 minute walk from the main attractions in Florence and about the same time from the SMN Firenze train station so good for burning off the wine and pizza but not great if you have mobility problems.

A mix of cheap, low quality although well coordinated and put together of furniture both in the rooms and common areas. Poor noise reduction from the street and the corridors. Windows and doors cheap too. Breakfast requires queuing for a coffee in a plastic cup. Overall quite underwhelming!

Everything was just perfect, from the facilities to the people. An unique way to stay and discover new things and people. The room was very pretty and comfortable. The services was perfect as well: I forgot my toothbrush and I just asked for it at the reception counter, following the tip I found in the bathroom. An excellent experience!

Anything but a hotel. Going to leave this trip with a permanent stiff neck and a headache. The pillows are slim to nothing and the bed is hard as a rock. Dont let the website fool you, there are no good amenities. All of my clothing has turned blue and shrunk from the laundry machines and 3/5 of them are consistently broken. The "room cleaning" happens once a month and they just change your sheets and give you new towels. Our room is filled with dust and dirt without being swept for so long and there is no access to any broom. The rooftop is nice but only until you get kicked off because it apparently has hours of operation (?). We were so excited about having a pool, one of the biggest amenities and attractions they advertise, just to find out it’s only open for three months. We once tried to get water before leaving for a trip and proceeded to get yelled at for going in a “restricted area”. The receptionist said “I am not sure what is wrong with you Americans” instead of politely informing us that we apparently are incapable of getting water. Maybe put a water foundation in the lobby if it’s somewhere we do not have access to. I also once asked reception for a new shower towel and they proceeded to look at my like I had three heads then finally told me that I only get one a month and I have access to a laundry machine. I thought hotels, especially the receptionists, were supposed to provide anything you need. I guess not here. It took maintenance days to come up and fix my shower drain after it was unbearably clogged and flooding the bathroom. Finally, you will get noise complaints from simply talking in your room because the walls are paper thin. If you want to be in the center of Florence this is not the place to be. The area around the hotel is not safe, especially when it is dark out. My friends and I actually ended up booking an air bnb on top of paying for this “hotel” for a few weekends in Florence because staying here was ruining our experience. I personally just wouldn't bother booking a stay here.

OK location around 15 minutes from the centre, rooms a bit small even the more expensive ones but nice enough.

The main problem is that most of the facilities are either closed or keep opening and closing at different times of day even when busy. This is even though the hotel is full.

Pool I think only opens 31 May but is really hot in May too so not sure why, also you can only stay in the pool for 2 hours and there are only around 10 sunbeds so you may be sitting on a chair, likely to be fully booked if you try and book on the same day, pool bar closes around 5.30 and then reopens around 6.30 even though the place is packed. No signature cocktails until 6pm.

Bistrot all day breakfast would be nice but breakfast finished at 12 and bistrot closes at 3pm and doesn't reopen as advertised. They also make you move when it closes to another seating areas despite it being in the same room.

There is no pizzeria or cocktail bar as advertised just really one coffee shop / restaurant.

Housekeeping goes home early so need to have your room cleaned by early afternoon.

Staff seems to alternate between helpful and rude with some being just one or the other. I am guessing they are understaffed.

Air conditioning is painfully slow and has been fixed at 19 degrees but never gets that low as the fan is turned down so low presumably to save money.

Good news is that rooms are available early quite often and late checkout is also available.

Worst decision ever. Communal kitchen is so dirty that it is not usable at all. The basic Covid protocols are not being applied with lots of gatherings without masks and social distance, leading to a real hazard. Even if you cannot use it and other facilities, you have to still pay a high price for that. In resume, they are doing misleading advertising.
If you have to do some quarantine, be prepared to stay in a hotel room without enough space, no hot water, no heating and the minimum services to eat, unless you spend more money or say a 5 euros fee to have food from outside.
In all cases, they will ask you a lot of money, even coming up with abusive clauses just to try to take you more.
I strongly recommend to avoid it in all cost. Do not be fooled by what they try to sell at social media. It's completely fake.

I booked either the most expensive or the second most expensive room they had available, the Panoramic suite, and it was exceptionally dirty when I checked in. There was sticky stuff all over the couches, the floor had food crumbs everywhere, and smudges on carpet. The tables were not wiped down properly either.

This cannot solely be blamed on housekeeping department. A manager should've checked the quality of the room prior to the guest's check-in.

I called reception immediately (phone was dirty too), telling them they will send housekeeping up. I didn't even want to unpack until the room was cleaned because i didn't want to put my personal belongings anywhere. I waited 15mins, housekeeping still hasn't showed up, so I walked down to the concierge personally and asked when housekeeping will come.

There are many other flaws in the design of the hotel room, from having 0 hangers in the bathroom, to having no counter space around the bathroom silk for toiletries, to providing only cheap brittle plastic cups.

I'm suppose to stay here again for 2 nights next week at the Suite when I'm back in Florence, but I'm willing to forfeit my reservation and the no-cancellation charge just to find another place to stay at.

Also the location is far from downtown. Distance wise it's not that far, but due to many small streets being inaccessible to cars and the crazy amount of traffic, it's a hassle to get from TSH into downtown Florence.

Where even to begin, we booked this hotel for it's pool and rooftop terrace but only after paying a non refundable payment and checking in were we told that we had to book the swimming pool a day in advance and that they were fully booked for the next day aswell as today, In our 4 day stay here we never got to use the pool. And only managed to book the rooftop bar once.
Our room was not once cleaned during our stay despite us letting them know about the issue and receiving an apology due to it. It was also dirty when we checked in.
There were no glasses to drink from in the room nor cutlery, when we asked for it the gave us paper cups and plastic cutlery.
The wait for the elevator is atleast 10 minutes,
Pillow cases were ruined and the pillows were way to old and need replacing.
Breakfast had little variety.
When we finally got a booking for the swimming pool something came up and it had to be fixed, we spoke to the reception and they told us we would get a slot from 15:00 to 17:00 instead of our original 13:00 to 15:00 slot, but when we came to the pool they said we wouldn't get that time so there is no or bad communication between staff here.
Tried calling the reception a couple of times during our stay but never an answer so I had to take the long slow elevator down to the lobby every time I wanted to speak to them.
I genuinely feel sorry for the staff that had to deal with all the unhappy customers during the time I stayed there.

I would recommend not staying at this "hotel" as it barely even is one and recommend that you find a cheaper and better place for your stay.

The high rating reviews of this place are definitely fake! This is not a 4-star hotel. It is a hostel that looks like a dorm.

Our room had no hair drier, no coffee maker, no hand soap, no night stand and no rug. The floor and walls were super dirty as you can see in the pictures below.
There was only one outlet to charge phones and that was on a desk. The queen bed had lighting only on one side. Their furniture was the lowest quality possible just like the ones you can find in a dorm.
They did not ever pick up the phone when we called the front desk.
We had to go down stairs and wait for one hour to ask for a hair drier, which then they just did not bring to our room even-though they promised they would. We asked for an iron in our room and they said that we have to go to the basement use the irons. (How is this place a 4-star hotel?!!!)

We asked them to clean the dirty floor and they promised that are going to fix it but they did not do anything.

We asked to talk to the manager but they said there is no one there!

No one even apologized for all of these. The staff were super irresponsible.

Don’t be fooled by their pool’s pictures. Their pool is always fully booked and you don’t even need to be a guest to use that area.

The hotel had a very tiny elevator for the area of our room which had more than 100 rooms. Each time we had to wait for ever to use the elevator.
Avoid at all costs.
