I've fished remote Canadian lodges for the past 15 years with a group of friends, and Wolf Lake Lodge was our best experience. Several of the guys in our group caught their personal best lake trout. The lodge holds 10-12 people but with just eight of us, there was plenty of room.
I was there in July of 2019, shortly after the new owners took over. The hosts, Todd and Shari Collins, treated us all like family. They customized each day for what we wanted to do; early or late breakfast, fish for trophy lake trout, arctic grayling, shore lunch, or a trip to the portage lakes.

Facilities were clean and comfortable, with two guys to a cabin. Shari's food was great, with homemade bread, fresh fruit, and a variety of dinner options. Todd and his son Denton were great guides for fishing, and great people to spend time with.

The boats and motors were all in excellent condition. The scenery is amazing. It's further for me than Ontario, but worth the trip.

This was hands down the best and most memorable trip and experience of my life. I went to Wolf Lake with my brothers and a couple of friends for a stag party trip. It was an amazing time with a great host, awesome guides and an amazing chef. The location is picturesque with mountains all around, the Arctic Grayling were a blast to catch in the mouth of the river and the Lake Trout were fun to catch. The cabins were roomy and comfy with full bathrooms, the lodge was a great size for all to sit and visit, and the boats and equipment were all newer and in great shape. This was an experience that I will never forget. Thanks Todd and staff!

What can I say other than WOW. The scenery alone is worth a 5 star review but If you just want fish and in numbers and size, this is the place you go. There is no other place that ever made me feel like I’m part of the family and not just a client. Todd and Shari went above and beyond. From the time I arrived to the unfortunate day I had to leave they left no stone unturned accommodating my group of four. I can never thank them enough for making this the trip of a lifetime. I can’t wait to make it back. Thank you #wolflakewildernesslodge. Hope to see you again soon.

We went on this excursion with my father, son and uncle V.

This was a trip to remember.

Fishing was amazing.

Lake trout were on the line every boat trip out and Some big fish were caught.

Grayling fishing was unreal. They would hit hard and fight like crazy no matter how big they were.

We had a few delicious shore lunch's with grayling and lake trout on the mouth of Wolf River.

Food at the lodge was prepared by Chef Wolfe Roberts and everything he created was top notch. His attention to detail in plating was not expected and a pleasant surprise.
The brisket on the 1st night was unreal!!

Todd, Colin, Jack and Brody were very knowledgeable guides and turned us in the right direction when navigating the lake.

The camp dog Django was friendly and always on the lookout for red squirrels and other possible animals at camp.

The surrounding landscape is breathtaking and there is a post card photo in every direction.

When I first visited Wolf Lake Lodge, it was 1997 and I went with a buddy. This time (June 2012), I returned with my son. 15 years later, everything was as good as it was the first time ... we caught loads of lake trout, enjoyed beautiful scenery (including watching a cow moose teach her young calf how to swim), consumed gourmet meals and had a very relaxing time over six days.

Here's how our trip went ... We arrived Whitehorse ~6:30pm and were transported by the lodge to the float plane base. A one hour Beaver flight later, we were at Wolf Lake and settling into our own private cabin with ensuite bathroom. The cabins were cozy and the beds very comfortable. At a remote place like this, we thought we would need to bring sleeping bags, but no, we enjoyed flannel sheets and pillows instead.

At Wolf Lake Lodge, the only schedule is one you make for yourself. If you want to fish yourself silly, you can go at it 24x7. If you wish to sleep-in or take a day off, you can do that. The lodge owners, Michelle and Wes Walker, are wonderful hosts who care about their guests enjoyment, whatever that is. All they wish to know is when you prefer to have your meals and what they can do for you to make your trip more enjoyable.

For the fisherman, there is excellent lake trout and arctic grayling fishing in Wolf Lake. The water is cold, so you catch them fairly close to the surface either, spin or fly casting or trolling. Into late July and August, the water warms and the lakers move a little deeper, but you can still catch them casting or trolling. Also available is a back lake full of lake trout and pike. May Lake is a 4-mile long back lake that is 15 minute walk down a trail to boats and motors you can use for as long as you like. The 4-8lb laker action in May Lake is nonstop and when the water is warmer in July and August, the big pike are hungry and are ready to give you a good fight.

My son and I had a blast and we both agreed that a smaller lodge like this one (hosts a maximum of 12 guests at a time) is a better bet for great fishing and an enjoyable time. This place represents great value and we look forward to our next trip.

I went to Wolf Lake when I was a boy, in 1972. I was in 9th grade. We went there 4 2 weeks in,August. With some other family. We had a ball. Now I'm 60yrs old. And want to bring my new family back there. But, we want to stay at the same place. The cottages close to wolf Lake, if they are still there. Thank you Mr. Scott Truston Hoxie
