Detailed Reviews
A very nice small hotel with clean and large rooms. The staff was really helpful and kind. There was also a basic but good breakfast. The metro station was very close, at a five minute walking distance. I will definitely go back there in case I visit Madrid again.

I agree with many previous reviewers. This was a good, clean, safe hotel that offered basic, but sufficient amenities and services at a very affordable price. Given its relatively central location and proximity to a major metro stop, it was a good base for those wishing to efficiently cover Madrid's many sites/attractions.
Positives: larger than anticipated rooms, clean, quiet (at least non-street facing side), friendly bilingual staff, access to nearby restaurants/cafes, easy wi-fi access, a great bargain for the price.
Negatives: no city maps provided at front desk, front desk not available after 11pm, no alarm clocks or access to wake-up calls after 11pm, no access to in room safe, adjacent roof covered with trash (perhaps not within the hotel's ability to fix, but still an eye-sore)
Don't expect a 5-star stay, but this was a good "no frills" find and we would stay here again.

Check-In/Check-Out:
No prolems, despite of unsufficient English knowledge of receptionist and breakfast was only offered upon request. But too late for me (8.30) as I Ieft at 6.30 the next day.
Positive: Check out was possible without receptionist, as nobody is on site from 10.00pm to 8.00am. The Credit Card has simply been debited afterwards.
Cleanliness:
Bedroom, bath, bedclothes, towels were clean.
Rooms:
Spacious and quiet (Room 203 yard side), no minibar, two seperate boxspring beds; bathroom equipped with bath (till the water for shower gets warm in the early morning it took 5mins). TIP: First turn on the tap into hot water position, wait 5mins, then undress to have a shower)
Both bedside lamps were loose at the wall.
W-LAN was not working, (The already weak Connection was aborted every 15 seconds, resulted in an 1h attempt to send an important E-Mail with attachments). Most annoying during my stay.
Location: Central, 10mins walk to "Plaza de Espana" and Metro station, 40mins to airport, easy accessible with one change.
For my next trip to Madrid I have booked a four star hotel incl. breakfast for the same price...lesson learned.

PROS
Boutique-hotel like designed rooms, great choice of colors and decoration.
Great location in the heart of Madrid, considering this the rooms are surprisingly spacious. The same hotel will cost you double the price in Paris, Amsterdam or Barcelona.
Very clean, confortable beds.
CONS
No minibar or nonstop nearby shop.
The staff can only be reached by phone after 20:00.
The WiFi quality, as everywhere in Spain, is frustrating.

The good things about this hostel are definitely the location (very central and close to Gran Via) as well as the relatively cheap room rates. However, the rest is rather disappointing. Upon arrival in our room, the shower as well as bathroom light was broken. It was repaired pretty quickly so that was ok. In general, our room was very noisy - both from the hallway and next door rooms within the hostel as well as from the little street the hostel is in. People talking down in the street actually feels like having them in your room sometimes. Also, there was a massive emergency light above the entry door to our room which enlightened the the whole room all through the night - I had quite some difficulties sleeping with this light on. The most shocking thing however was the lacking toilet paper - I went to the reception and asked for more. It turned out they didn't have any left and one of the staff went out to a supermarket to get some. I could not believe this! It took some 30 minutes until we finally got the paper. So all in all - expect a rather cheap place: cheap as far as rates go and cheap as far as service and room quality is concerned.

First of all: its a hostel, and not a hotel.
It's clean and nice, and has a very attentious staff. If you're a light sleeper, specifically ask for a room NOT facing the street. The noise is beyond imaginable, and we had to change to other room.
The first room was really poor (the 208), with a lousy table and a really small TV. The second room (the 202) was as good as if it was an hotel room. It's near from the subway and right in the center of Madrid. Would stay again.

For the price that we paid (€143 for three nights) this hotel was definitely good value. The location is great, few minutes away from Gran Via and close to Callao and Gran Via metro stations. Its quite basic but clean and sufficient for our needs (although an extra pillow would have been nice!).
Only problem with this hotel is that the surrounding is noisy at night. This was not a problem for myself and my husband as we are good sleepers but could be for other people.

One of my friends found this hotel, and it's a perfect place to hang your hat while exploring Madrid. It's no frills, but very clean and comfortable and you certainly can't beat the price.
I had a single room with a lovely little balcony which was nice. The Metro stop is about 3 blocks away, and there's a small grocery around the corner, I'd reccomend picking up a few bottles of water to keep in the room. Otherwise, get out and explore!

A great little find. Extremely cheap but with great clean rooms and walking distance to all of the gay bars. The staff was nice and helpful with maps and other info readily at hand. If you are traveling as a couple make sure to ask for 'matrimonial' bed when booking otherwise you will get two twins pushed together.

Just returned from staying at the antigua posada. The rooms were very, very clean and just what a tourist needs as a base for discovering madrid. Its 5 minutes walk from the cellao metro and gran via.
The breakfast was a bargain at 4 euros and consisted of cereal, croissants, toast, teacakes, a selection of pastries, tea/coffee and orange juice. The free wifi was a bonus too.
Would defo visit agen
