We recently had a two night stay at the Ashling hotel for a girls weekend break away. We got a great deal in the BA sale and had seen really good reviews for this hotel, we were not disapointed at all. All of the staff are wonderful, from check in to the restraurant, bars and housekeeping - all of them went the extra mile to ensure we had a great stay. Upon check-in we were given a map and the lady highlighted all of the good places to go and what to see. Super easy to get to from the airport, we jumped on the 747 bus which stops just a 2 minute walk from the hotel for I think 12 Euro return. The tram also stops really close to the hotel to get into the city centre and the Guiness storehouse is a 10 minute walk away.
Our rooms were spotless although I do think slightly small for 3 adults, beds really comfy and bathroom was well equipt with a large bath/shower. Facilities are excellent with hairdryer, iron, tea coffee and all toiletries. Another thing to note with three girls to a room there were so many mirrors in the rooms and good lighting!
Breakfast buffet was fantastic with so much choice, we had an excellent stay and if we found ourselves in Dublin again I would definitely stay again.

We have just had a wonderful stay at the Ashling hotel, we found its location to be perfect for our needs as it was in a quieter part of Dublin (walking distance to Guinness factory) but at the same time was only 4 stops on the tram and we were smack bang in the centre! Getting from the airport is really easy, with the 747 bus [€7 each way] stopping a 2 min walk from the hotel. This took an hour or so and the stop was the last one making it hassle free! Breakfast wise you can’t complain, lovely cooked breakfasts together with fruit/breads/juices etc which set us up for the day each morning. Bathrooms were nice and the beds were super comfy so would really recommend this hotel! Would recommend a trip to the nearby Brazens Head (10 min walk from hotel) for a pint and lunch - being the oldest pub in Dublin, it’s well worth a visit.

We stayed here for two nights in October 2019. The room was very comfortable and had a very long, narrow bathroom with two basins, a great make-up/shaving mirror as well as the big mirror, bathtub and really nice shower. It had a good view from two sides so we must have been in the corner room. It's not right in the heart but frankly I wouldn't want to be. Just get on the Luas (Dublin tram) right by the hotel and go a couple of stops, no sweat. You can walk to town if you are energetic.

Location is not very central but still reachable by foot in about 20-30 min. Staff was welcoming in the reception and at the breakfast room. The cleaning ladies were a bit persistent asking if I'm already checking out when I was going out of the room. The room itself was ok. The bathroom looked a bit outdated with some surfaces peeling off. Also the shower was fixed on the wall and you couldn't move/ redirect it - very old fashioned and inconvinient.

The hotel itself is fantastic. Not once did it feel busy despite it's size. The room was spacious and cleaned daily, with water and biscuits replenished daily too. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a good range of meals to choose from and we had room service one night which we didn't have to wait long for and at no extra charge.

We arrived at our hotel at 10.45am and our room was ready which was a pleasant surprise due to check in being 3pm. This helped us organise our first day better and removed the stress of trying to check in later on.

The hotel is in a great location, however you do have a 20 minute walk to pubs and restaurants but it's only 200m away from the Luas stop (tram) which is a handy way to get to the city centre if you don't fancy the walk. We got the airlink shuttle bus direct from the airport and it stops at Heuston station which is directly opposite the hotel and a 3 min walk. The hotel is an easy 9 min walk to the Guinness factory so handy for a visit.

Lastly, the breakfast was amazing! A huge range of food to choose from catering for all tastes and dietary requirements with hot food freshly prepared and served by the chef's. Despite the hotel being busier on Friday and Saturday, we didn't have to wait for a table and the service was quick and efficient.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who is visiting Dublin in the future.

We booked the Ashling Hotel for an overnight Dublin stay which did not disappoint. We booked a superior double room with city views and it was lovely. They even left a birthday card and chocolates as it was my birthday. The sumptuous king size bed was to die for. The large en-suite bathroom has shower, separate bath and two sinks. As we were on the sixth floor we were provided with some great views of the city even with the bad weather at the time.

Staff are friendly and the decor is nice, modern and chic. The hotel is situated right beside Heuston Station and the Luas line so getting about is very convenient.

We will definitely be returning as we have yet to sample to 100+ items available at the breakfast.

A really great location in the centre of Dublin and by the Luas. We have young children and the set up was great- a large family room had 2 singles, a double and a cot, as well as a living area.

Cleanliness was a priority with one way systems, sanitising stations, cling wrap on the highchairs, seals on room doors.

Car parking right behind hotel was so handy too, just took us a minute to find the entrance. We ate dinner & breakfast there and all good.

Although the hotel is in a good location for what we wanted to do we were under impressed with our room which was on the first floor in the front by the tramlines. The trams run late and start early and the soundproofing is poor. In addition the bed and pillows were too firm for us so we got little sleep. We did ask about alternative pillows but nothing happened. Please also be aware that they do not automatically service your room due to COVID, so you have to ask. This means no water bottles etc replenished. We only stayed 3 nights but soon ran out of water. The room was rather tired looking and the toilet flush was poor. Staff on reception were friendly and at breakfast which is a buffet. Although the website says breakfast is from 6.30 am you have to book a slot the day before and they have also changed the weekend times to 8.00 am which is not on the website. Bar service was a bit hit or miss in the evening.

Myself and my husband stayed overnight on Sunday 11th October. We have stayed here many times in the past and have always found it to be excellent value for money. This time was no different. Despite the Covid 19 restrictions the staff are cheerful and efficient. Every care was taken by way of sanitisation and social distancing. Room was spacious and bright. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. We had dinner on Sunday night which was delicious. Breakfast buffet was much more limited than usual. We would recommend this hotel for location and easy access, Just one negative point the charge for overnight parking is on the high side. Will definitely stay again!

Alan H wrote a review Mar 2020
So this is a hard review to write as there was great things about the Ashling and some things that I found annoying / strange.

First it has to be said its an amazing location, 2 minutes from Heuston train station and a couple of minutes from the Luas (so you have great access from Connolly station too).

So look the food is good, service is good rooms are clean and up to standard.

Here is where they could improve, first when i booked on line the information is guests must pay €12.00 per night to use the car park (BAD I gave them over €500.00 for the stay) but when i was checking out the receptionist validated my parking card so no charge??? so they are advertising a bad deal then not asking you to pay it???

No food served after 21.45 - this is an absolute joke all you can get in the hotel after this time is Pizza (fantastic pizza it must be said) but come on lads you can offer a better service.

Lots of noise in the room, you can here the people beside you speaking (can be annoying when your trying to sleep)

And finally the shower head that will cleave your head off, yes when you stand in the show (5.8 feet or over) the square steel shower head is at eye level so you have to duck under it, if you forget and turn around quickly you could get a nasty gash to the head.

So the question, if I was staying over in the city again would i stay here - unfortunitly its a no, lots of other hotels around the city that have these issues solved (might have different ones but lets wait and see)
