The Grand Royale Hyde Park hotel boasts a regal ambiance and a prime location favored by guests for its proximity to Hyde Park and central London attractions. However, some travelers have expressed disappointment with the smaller-than-expected rooms, and discomfort due to maintenance issues. While the cleanliness generally meets expectations, the value proposition is questioned by many guests, who cite additional charges and unmet amenities. Service experiences vary, with instances of both commendable hospitality and unsatisfactory interactions highlighted by visitors.

We stayed here in December 2019 for the second time. The location is excellent with Hyde Park less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel and there are 2 tube stations equally as close giving you easy travel from Kings Cross or Heathrow airport. Bedrooms are small but they have everything you need for your stay. We feel it's great value for money as it also includes your breakfast which is of a very high standard and helps sets you up for your days adventure. The building is stunning with the old theatre bar, stunning staircase and the seating area it feels like an old manor house all within keeping of the property. Well worth a try you wont be disappointed.

The title of this review sums it up. The hotel would be a great movie set and was, in the Victorian days of Edward VII, where Bertie and Lillie Langtry would meet. The interior has not changed - even the main door to the hotel appears to be 100 years old. Despite the decor and the ghosts, the hotel is a functioning, modern hotel, run by formal and efficient Russian staff. The rooms are very small, quiet, often with only space for a single bed, and everything appears clean and maintained. Breakfast had all the normal buffet choices and was served in large, elegant, first floor rooms. The bar is worth visiting as it was arranged so that Ms. Langtry could give private "performances" to HRH. On the down side, the view of the alley from the rooms at the back of the hotel is uninspiring. I met another frequent traveller in the lift and we started chatting. He swears by the place stays there whenever he is in London. The hotel is especially popular with Dowton Abbey fans. For food a good pub or any other sort of enerytainment, the Bayswater Rd. is about 5 minutes walk away. All in all not a bad place if you like to explore.

We stayed here for two nights in February.
Check in was straight forward and we had no problems.
The room we stayed in was very clean and tidy, albeit quite a small room in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in, in London.
The location is very good and situated near tube stations for you to hop on and hop off.
The only downside that I would say, is the hotel doesn’t come with its own car park, so therefore you have to add £30 on per day for parking your car in a public car park.
All in all though, we had a lovely stay.

We were moved very last minute (literally got an email off the original hotel at 1930 after a 3 hour journey and tube stopped) to advise. Tried looking for an alternative ourself but not going to find anywhere that time of night for check in immediately over the wkend unless you want to pay £900 so we were already annoyed at this. Anyway arrived and reception/ lobby is nice enough but we had a pre authorisation taken of £110 on the day of arrival & was then told we needed to still pay full amount. This makes zero sense, I tried to explain the pre authorisation was not pending & had shown as a debit on my account balance but they just couldn’t understand this. I’m still annoyed about his now as was told this would be credited on check out (it still isn’t by the way) and your effectively paying an extra £110 when surely it’s easier to pay the remaining of the balance. Not happy at all about this.
We were told we’d been upgrade to a club room - would hate to see the normal rooms! Room was tiny and my downstairs toilet is bigger than the bathroom. Can’t fit anymore than 1 person in the at a time unless you stand in the bath while they wash there hands or use toilet.
The actual outside of the hotel was quiet considering we were overlooking a block of high rise residential flats but the statement on soundproofing is completely false.
I could hear the tv from one side & a woman talking the other side. Tv remote was also missing with tv actually bolted to the wall with a padlock!
My husband complained in the morning & asked if we could upgrade & pay the extra for a larger room and to be fair to them they offered if we came back in the afternoon they’d show us an alternative room on another floor but they were still a club room & apparently all the same size.
Anyway we had plans so couldn’t come back in afternoon & we ended up staying out later on the basis the room wasn’t really to our standard.

Obviously as it wasn’t the original hotel we booked were potentially gonna be starting off on the wrong foot but this whole pre authorisation thing is ridiculous & rooms are tiny and given we’d booked the trip over a month ago we were never gonna get a decent standard room on the day at similar pricing to when we originally looked. I’d recommend paying the extra and booking somewhere who isn’t gonna do this silly pre authorisation and then not offset it against the balance as no matter what they say, it does show as a debit in your account and a hotel with decent sized rooms.

The hotel’s location is just perfect, near Hyde Park and underground station is less than a minute walk and the rates are real value for money. I have recommended the hotel to several people who have actually stayed in the hotel. Their experience wasn’t different than mine. The staff at the hotel are really hopeful and pleasant, especially the duty manager Boryana Sirakova, Every time I visit the hotel she make sure that the visit is a very pleasant experience. I will definitely go back and will keep recommending it.

I was assigned an excellent room with the help of the manageress at reception and the duty manager, and they also likewise assured an excellent room for two people travelling with me and arriving later in the day, they very kindly put fruit and chocolates in their room!! The staff were always so kind and courteous and helpful, and I admire their patience with me for the items I needed keeping in their fridge. Two gentlemen members of staff helped me enormously on the morning I had to go to apply for a visa, and they prepared my photocopies and scanned passport copies etc. It was just so very kind of them - I was trembling with nerves, as I often do on such occasions, and these two young men calmed me down considerably with their smiles and kindness, and I left the hotel to apply for my visa feeling relaxed and confident. They made a big difference. my visa application was successful. thank you. I really found the hotel very nice indeed, and it is also in an excellent location, with two metro stations, buses for everywhere, Hyde Park and lots of shops and restaurants within very, very close walking distance of the hotel. a special mention to Boryana Sirakova, duty manager, who replied so kindly when I sent a thank-you letter directly to the hotel.

Stayed here one night on Dec 18, 2019. When they heard it was for my wife’s birthday, they sent chocolates and a small bottle of wine to the room, which was nice. The room was small, like many city hotel rooms, but was perfectly clean and bright, with a decent TV, and it looked as though it was fairly newly decorated. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well, although the lack of a proper shower screen meant that the bathroom floor flooded with water. The wi-fi worked well, as did the lifts. The best part was the breakfast the following morning which had an excellent range of cooked foods and fruit, yogurts, pastries, bread etc.
The position of the hotel is not central but is on many bus routes and close to two underground stations. It’s only a few dozen metres from Hyde Park but around a mile from Oxford Street. The bus routes go to Piccadilly Circus, Victoria station, Oxford street etc.

I would stay here again given the right deal.

This is an amazing hotel in the heart of central London. Every little detail, every little corner and every little room tells a story of luxury, grandiose and elegance about this beautiful quaint property. It feels like a palace in a simple way, the Staff are amazing, you are looked after from the moment you check in till the moment you depart. Moreover the Hotel Manager Mr. Ankur Sehgal is an amazing professional who is always visible at every corner of the hotel, highly approachable and extremely helpful. This is like my second home and will always be a top priority for me as my comfort spot whenever I need to stay closer to central London for business.

The Grand Royale Hotel is located in one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Bayswater. It is very well connected by bus to central london and 2 tube stations of Bayswater and Queensway in addition to being opposite Kensington park - by crossing the road and having a short walk, you will find yourself in Kensington gardens, you may take a stroll down to Kensignton Palace and and once crossed the palace you come out by High Street Kensington.

The Grand Royale is a truly amazing gem that should be your top choice when visiting London

The hotel rooms are small and old. We ordered family deluxe room for 3 persons. It was very small and with just one window that was impossible to open to get fresh air. Cleaning was very poor. They didn’t even change bed linen before we asked.
Room view was towards garbage containers. Reception was polite and friendly.
If you want a 4 stars hotel rather pay more for the better one or pay less and stay at 3 stars where at least you know what are you can expect.

Dear Azil5891, Thank you for having taken to Tripadvisor to share your feedback following your recent stay with us. I was sorry to see however, that as a result of the size of your room, your stay was less than perfect. I hope you would understand & appreciate the fact that Grand Royale London Hyde Park is a highly listed building which is almost 200 years old & the rooms can seem small due to their nature and the modern design being done in the bedrooms. We do advertise the room pictures and dimension on the website for travels to know what they are booking. Had we known, you were not at all satisfied with the given room, we would have arranged an alternative solution to make you more comfortable As we do have many different room categories available, please do not hesitate to contact me directly the next time your travels take you to London, and it would be my pleasure to personally assist you with choosing a room suitable for your needs. We found this little gem on the internet and were a little hesitant as the pictures looked great but reality can be quite different. Not in this case. The hotel is beautiful with glorious sweeping staircases a relaxing and welcoming lounge and great bar area. The staff are genuine warm and caring. It is clear to see that the passion is to provide great service. Less than 5 minutes walk to Queensway and Bayswater tube stations literally a stones throw from Hyde Park and around 5 minutes to Kensington Palace, and a huge variety of cafes restaurants and pubs just around the corner this is an ideal location and great place to stay
