The Timbers has beautiful, nicely appointed cabins all overlooking the ocean. There is a pool, a dock and some lovely walks through the forest to enjoy. The cabins are placed far apart from one another so there is a feeling of privacy. The cabins are very nicely decorated and are upscale. I liked the size of the cabins and we could accomodate our 3 teenagers plus my husband and I (and the dog) and still have private space to hang out. The hot tub off the master bedroom was lovely! The downside were all the rules for cleaning up after the visit. It's an expensive place and I have never been asked to clean before leaving a resort before. The contract that visitors are asked to sign has a brusque manner which I found offensive. The resort is closed right now because it has been operating in a residential area but the owner is appealing that court decision and it may open again. I hope that they can hire more staff in order that the guests don't have to work so much. I made a mistake when booking and we stayed an extra day which I had not booked. The organization that does the booking for the resort called me and spoke to me like I had robbed a bank! She demanded that I pay up now which I was, of course, willing to do. I did not like the way I was spoken to. So, all in all, a beautiful spot on a lovely island. I hope that the resort can iron out the kinks and make this a better experience for their visitors.

My Family has been a repeat guest of the Timbers on Pender Island. 1 month after our stay in one of the cabins I received a phone call claiming I did not clean the cabin as per the contract. The cabins are left unlocked so I assumed someone had been inside after we left the place in great condition. After a brief conversation with the booking agent, they assured me they would follow up. Another month passed and I receive an email stating they would rather not have people like me return if I can't clean up and they were going ahead with the charge. I asked to speak to someone at the property level as there was clearly a mistake and I refused to pay money for something I did not do. Although they assured me I could speak to someone, no one ever called. They simply charged me for an additional cleaning fee 3 months after my departure.

What would have been a family destination for years to come has now become such an outrage for me and my family. Contacting me 1 month after my departure and never following through on communication promises has left me feeling like I have no other option other than to warn others that although this destination in beautiful it is also poorly managed. If they want to compete with 5 star destinations, they will need to treat their guests with more respect.

We have been staying at The Timbers for one week periods for the past 5 years. Our experiences have been nothing short of excellent. The resort is peaceful and relaxing. the cabins are luxurious and the owners are wonderful. We have never felt put out having to tidy the cabin as we left. We were really disappointed that the resort is closed and hope that it will re-open soon. My children have wonderful memories of their vacations at The Timbers and I hope that we can make many more soon!
