We tried booking this through an online company that totally messed up our reservation. When my husband phoned the hotel directly, they helped straighten things out and gave us an even better rate. We were very impressed with their friendly and helpful customer service. We had three rooms booked. We did notice that there was lack of consistency between the three rooms. Maybe some of them are not remodeled yet. One room had both a fridge and a microwave, one room had just a microwave and the other room had neither. On their website it says that all rooms come with a microwave. The beds in two rooms were very comfortable and the beds in the other were hard. The rooms were all very clean. Enjoyed using the wifi. Their hotel rates are very reasonable compared to the other hotels. For a town of around 15, 000 people I am an amazed at the room rates of the hotels in Yorkton. I am going to Victoria BC in a few months and I can get a room there for much less. We would book this hotel again.

When we approached this Howard Johnson, I wondered if I had made the wrong choice of accommodation, when I made my reservation. The parking lot is pretty bad and the outside of the building looks as if it has seen better days. Having said that, we decided to go in,where we received a warm welcome from the staff.

The decore of the room was pleasant and, although we didn't need them, the room was equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave. The TV was flat screen and the single cup quisinart coffee maker made a great hot cup of coffee in the morning.

Many modestly priced chain hotels/motels have thin and skimpy towels but the towels at this Howard Johnson were of a decent size and thick and fluffy. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, enabling us to have a good night's sleep.

We were delighted, after a week of travelling to be able to do our laundry at a very reasonable cost. The laundry room is adjacent to the pool and hot tub so we were able to enjoy a swim and soak in the hot tub, while doing our laundry.

On our way to the pool we noted that many of the rooms along the hall had their doors open and there was carpet shampooing going on, something that gave us confidence that this Howard Johnson took pride in its housekeeping.

If we had any complaint it was that the wifi was a little slow but we managed alright, in the end.

If we were passing through Yorkton, in the future, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here.

Response from Yorkton, Manager at Broadway Lodge Hotel.

Thank you for such a wonderful review. I am delighted that we surpassed your expectations of us. We pride ourselves on our friendly and helpful staff, we realise how tired many of our guests are after travelling and a friendly, polite welcome makes all the difference. I have passed on your comments to our Head Housekeeper and Maintenance team; although we are an older hotel we try our best to maintain a high level of cleanliness for our guests, and it is always nice for our staff to be acknowledged by guests that their hard work has been noticed. With regards to our wi-fi we are aware that at times it can be slow, and we are currently in the process of looking at various options to improve this. Once again thank you for your kind comments and should you ever be passing through again a warm welcome awaits you here. Kind Regards, Sarah Spencer Assistant Manager

Stayed here one night in late Nov 2020 during Covid protocols.
Room was DIRTY. Stains from toilet cleaner not scrubbed, hair in the shower, cup stains on the bathroom counter, and a sticky stain in a cabinet drawer. I found a puncture hole in the wall hidden by the curtain.

I chose this place because they advertise new beds. Granted, the bed was comfortable.

Upon walk-away checkout, they called me saying I put the hole in the wall and they are charging me $200.
When I called to complain, the "manager" threatened to charge another $300 just for complaining.

Don't go here. Anywhere else would be better than getting scammed like me.

Filthy filthy filthy. If I wouldn’t have precooked and paid for two nights at would have left. I ended up disinfecting my whole room. Omg. So so dirty. I am not fussy and can get past a hair on the floor but this was unbelievable. The only good thing was the comfortable bed!

Awful hotel and room. It looked abandoned when we pulled in no sign & lobby was locked. Had to call & wait a while for staff to check us in. Bed was clean but the room smelt bad. A/C worked thank goodness. No Kleenex in the bathroom & mold in the shower. We should’ve stayed at the Comfort Inn across the road. The pictures of this hotel must be decades old they’re very misleading. Do yourself a favour & pass on this one.

Pictures tell a lie. Price seemed fair until we got there. Then waaay overpriced. Room was shabby and had no heat. We were offered a plug in heater. The outside should have told us. Boarded up windows, desperate for a paint job. Instant refund. The person checking in while I checked out ended up at our new hotel. .

We checked out after 30 minutes at this hotel. The empty beer bottles, the smelly room, the suspicious looking guests hanging outside their rooms were all signs to leave. The stairs were in poor condition and dangerous. This is the last place to stay in Yorkton.

I am very sorry that we did not meet your expectations for your stay. Our Guests' needs are very important to us! The arrival of your stay coincided with the start of our City's annual Exhibition and Fair time, and with this in mind, bring in some less than desirable clientele. I have made my Maintenance and Security staff aware that they need to circulate the building more to ensure the cleanliness and safety, and our hotel is maintained better in the future. It is very rare that our rooms are smelly, as our Housekeeping Staff are dilligent about making sure that each and every room is cleaned properly. We at the Howard Johnson in Yorkton do pride ourselves for having the cleaniest rooms in the area. Our Hotel is an older establishment and in constant renovations; the stairs are on this list. I am hoping that your concerns were brought up with our Front Desk Personel, and that they did what they could to further accomodate your needs. Once again thank you for taking the time to bring up your concerns with our establishment. We hope we can serve you better in the future. Sincerely, Rhonda Tide Assistant Manager Howard Johnson Inn Yorkton, Saskatchewan

Wow. Where do I begin? From the road, the place looked deserted. This should have been enough of a warning, but we went in. We were given a room in the back which was only accessible via crumbling cement stairs that had empty beer cans littered about and a grill stashed below. The rooms around us appeared to be occupied by several women per room who were not just 'passing through'. Our room was non-smoking, but clearly the balcony outside the room was fair game for smokers. The pool was locked and therefore inaccessible, which was just as well given that the nearest stairwell was closed due to ... deterioration. We did not feel that the reviews we read here described this hotel accurately AT ALL. I would stay away....we left after about 30 minutes. This is NOT a hotel for families.

Thank you for bringing to our attention some of your concerns with our Hotel. Summer time brings in many people from all over, visiting our City. We have long term stays from Crews that work around the surounding area,as well as guests that stay for one night. There is a designated Non Smoking room area, however, guests are free to smoke as long as it is outside the room. The Pool is accessible with your room key, as we limit any outsiders that are not registered in the Hotel. This is a safety and security issue to keep our guests from unwanted visitors not staying at our establishment. We will be speaking with our Maintenance and Security Staff to ensure that the property is not littered with beer cans, or trash that may cause an unsightly appearance to other guests. We are an older hotel, that is in constant renovations and the stairs are on this list for repairs. It is unfortunate that your stay was not a pleasant one, however normally most of our guests leave us very happy. We accomodate many families who leave here with positive experiences. I hope that you did bring your concerns to our Front Desk Staff and they tried to meet all of your needs. Thank you once again in bring to our attention these concerns. We are looking into them to make sure that they are solved to make all of our guests stay at our hotel a happy one! Our customers needs do come first. Sincerely, Rhonda Tide Assistant Manager Howard Johnson Inn Yorkton, Saskatchewan

Older Hotel in the midst of being updated. Rooms have all been updated but the hallways and common areas still, very much showing their age. Pool area is closed and looks like it has been for a while. Would stay again.
