My husband and I stayed here last night (May 26). From the moment we arrived (early) we were extremely happy. We booked on line and asked for a balcony but when we checked in they said our room didn't have one. I told them we were celebrating our anniversary and hoped to have champagne on the balcony later in the evening. Selena and Sandrine (I hope I am spelling these names correctly) were amazing, they switched our room and made sure our stay was incredible, including chocolates. The Koena spa was perfect for a relaxing day! We will definitely be back!

There are lot of good things about the hotel - it’s perfect if you want to visit Gatineau park area, there is a free parking and you can get to Ottawa in 15 minutes drive, the rooms are very spacious, there is a big well equipped gym and a pool.
But there are things that should be upgraded for sure. Although beautiful from outside the hotel needs some renovations. The corridors are dark and have a filthy feeling, some furniture items should be upgraded. Our bathroom had a huge rust spot and it never was cleaned. Breakfast mostly has unhealthy options with fried potatoes, sausages, etc. the veggies were dry and of low quality. Definitely expensive for what it is and is not worth 17$pp.

We had reserved the best suite at the property and were very, very happy with our choice. It was easily one of the coziest hotel rooms I've experienced in North America, and we had no complaints at all about the room, except possibly the lighting situation in the bathroom. We also had dinner at the property, which was fine albeit a bit pricey (even with the included credit for us Hilton Diamond members). What was annoying, however, was the lack of a proper breakfast. Since they only offered a small and not appetizing to-go bag, we opted to dine outside of the hotel, which proved difficult and time consuming since almost all other food outlets in the area were closed due to Covid-19.

We stayed for one night on a trip to Ottawa to see a show at the NAC. The room was incredibly warm (23 degrees C) when we checked in. We switched the thermostat from heat to cool, turned on the fan and lowered the heat to 19C before we went for dinner and the show. When we returned, the heat in the room had climbed to 25C. We fiddled with the thermostat a bit, to no avail. Window could not be opened as the crank had been removed (which struck me as a serious safety issue). Called the front desk. He sent someone up, confirmed that the thermostat was set properly and said there was nothing he could do as maintenance was gone. We asked to switch rooms but he said the hotel was full. We spent a miserable, sleepless night in the hot room with no ventilation. When we checked out, I was told he should have given us the crank for the window so we could open it but she figured the fellow on duty was knew so didn’t know that. Apparently, the heat for the whole hotel is set centrally and the individual room thermostats don’t do anything! How frustrating. Since we had paid with points, the supervisor couldn’t do anything about our room and deferred us to the manager, who isn’t on duty on Sundays. Not impressed. I was also annoyed that a double room suite didn’t have enough pillows or linens for the pull out couch, only had two towels. When I asked for more shampoo and conditioner, we were handed body lotion and shower gel. There is no cold water or water fountain in the lobby. Very disappointed overall. We stayed here once two years before in July and had a wonderful visit but it’s clearly suffered since then. We will not return.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our hotel during your recent stay, we apologize for any inconvenient caused and appreciate very much your feedback's. After double checking with our maintenance team, I can confirm that the temperature in each of our rooms are controlled individually by a thermostat inside the room and not centrally controlled, it could have been a malfunctioning thermostat which caused the temperature problem, the crank for the windows was removed in compliance with the regulations from the province ( Children safety in multiple floor building). Again, sorry for any inconveniences caused. Thank you

Overall staff were friendly and beds were comfy but there were some key things missing that would lead me to book elsewhere next time. We booked a king suite - online description included references to a dining table and bathtub. There were neither in our room - unless the table underneath the tv in the sitting area was meant to be a dining area?? It was nice to have a stove top, microwave and fridge, however it was very difficult to make a meal given the lack of kitchen supplies (limited large utensils, no cutting knives, no dish towel....etc). There were also some other odd things - half the outlets didn't work in the kitchen area, there's no art on the wall (room felt kind of stark), the blanket for the sofa bed was tattered and full of piles....and there was music from a speaker outside the room (meant for the common space in the lobby) that woke us up around 630am. We have used this hotel before and were pleased, but this experience has unfortunately shifted our opinion.

A truly forgetful experience for a very high price. Stayed at the hotel using my HHonors Gold status and booked a king suite as I was traveling with wife and 2 kids. At arrival at the room, even though the person at front desk saw the 4 of us, I am greeted by a two ambience room with just one bed. Back at reception the person in charge just limited himself to saying “you got what you booked”, even though I had the screenshot of the reservation clearly stating it was for 4 people. In the end I was told I had to downgrade from what I had payed for in order to get a room with at least 2 beds. I accepted reluctantly and checked back in.
The property really shows that time has taken a toll and states adamantly that no one has had the decency to keep it tip top regardless of the inevitable passage of time.
Breakfast was a true disappointment. A menu with 4 options was it. Really! Each option upwards of 20 dollars.
The cherry on top of the icing was the second day when we arrived at a non fixed room. Reading through the fine print indeed it stated that due to “Covid”, two years later, they weren’t providing any house keeping service.
All in all a really bad experience for a large amount of money, added to the fact that Hilton didn’t even have the decency to contact me after I fist reported the matter through HHonors site.

I definitely do not recommend the hotel for its service, the state of the property and the high price. I am sure something better located can be found for a similar rate.

I will decline my HHonors Gold status and refrain myself from using any of the chain’s options from now on.

I am aware of the passion included in this writing but I can assure everyone that it is completely fact based and is written after a long period of cooling down.

I booked the Double Tree hotel because of the great looking outdoor pool area.

I decided not to choose other hotels that had queen beds, in door pools, and were a lot closer along our route because the DoubleTree outdoor pool looked great.

I arrived at the hotel and found out the indoor pool was out of service and the outdoor pools required an additional spa package and children under 16 weren't welcome.

The room itself was the most old-fashioned room I've ever stayed in (including rooms I stayed in 20 years ago)

All the furniture in the room was old scratched up wood.

The beds were double beds not queen beds.

The room was very dark.

The bathtub had no drain plug; we needed to plug it with a face cloth.

The mini fridge in the room was about 2/3's the size of a normal mini fridge.

At 10 pm water started leaking from the ceiling in our washroom.

We were moved to a different room that was more updated. (Furniture appeared to be from the 90's) The bathroom vanity was beautiful though.

In the second room there were tons of tiny ants.

The only positive things I can say are the entrance looked very grand (but once going to the next floor it looked from the 70's) As well the check-in staff were very pleasant.

I was very disappointed.

Went to spend the night with my wife for a getaway and to enjoy the indoor, outdoor spa. The staff were friendly, but the hotel is in need of an update with signs of wear and tear all around. The room was dusty with dust balls in the corners, the toilet paper holder was hanging off the wall, there was an old coffee cup on the balcony full of cigarette butts, a sizable hole in the decking of the patio and the bed was firm and uncomfortable. At midnight the sound system for the outdoor spa started to blare dance music which we contacted.the front desk about and was eventually turned off after 10 to 15 min. On checkout the wrong rate had been charged for the room and I showed the price from the reservation. The front desk clerk said to check my bill and sure enough, when I got home the email receipt showed an outstanding balance for the rate difference. I called and was assured the remaining balance would not be billed to me, but guess what, within an hour of me calling, my credit card was dinged for the outstanding amount and I now have to call again. Hilton will not be my first choice in the future

We had to move from our first room because there was a plugged toilet in the next room and when they tried to clear it the sewage came into our shower. We were moved to another room but not offered any compensation. When we asked they gave us a free breakfast and when we were checking out the manager gave us 25% off one night. I feel that it should have been more for the inconvenience of moving and dealing with the unpleasant situation in our first room. The price per night is too expensive considering the condition of the hotel. Its age is really showing. The rooms are dated. The headboard is vinyl and is peeling, the furniture is in need of replacement or painting. The walls need new wallpaper or paint. Once these items are dealt with I would be willing to pay the amount charged.
The only reason I gave it a 3 is because the Koena spa is excellent and it is convenient being in the hotel when you want to use it. Also the staff that we dealt with were all pleasant.

Don't be fooled with those beautiful pools and hot tubs in the pictures. That is a "Thermal spa" that costs $30 per person to use. Unlike almost every other hotel in the world, this hotel has no pool for regular guests who just pay for a room. If you want to go out back and swim you need to pony up the $60 per couple. I booked this looking forward to a nice dip in the hot tub after touring around Ottawa, but had to settle for a long hot shower in our room that has not been refurbished since about 1995. Parking is free though...

Not sure for Diamond members. I am gold and they gave me a card with a credit towards breakfast. It didn’t cover the whole thing of course. Maybe for Diamond the amount is larger. Hope this helps.

Children under the age of 14 eat in the breakfast bistro for half price, the fitness room is not available to anyone under 16 & children must be accompanied by an adult when using the Pool, the Hotel probably has connecting rooms, & can accommodate your group. The connected restaurant the "Ferme Rouge" is open for dinner only from 4 pm daily. The Lobby Bistro restaurant is only open for Breakfast from 7am to 11am, Buffet breakfast, $15 per adult.
