We have stayed at Ocean Trails Resort several times over the years, the most recent being the summer of 2019. We are a family of four and have stayed at Ocean Trails when our kids were young, until now when they are in their mid and late teens. The resort itself is clean, well-kept and very quiet. The facilities are in excellent condition and always clean. Whether walking a few minutes to a spectacular beach, strolling into nearby forest pathways, or taking a short drive into Parksville, activities and opportunities abound. Last year, as we always have done, we arranged for a barbecue at our unit for the duration of our stay. We enjoyed all of our meals at our room and ate both inside and outside, depending on the day. The management of the resort are friendly, accommodating and professional. Games and equipment are always available, allowing you to maximize the whole property while enjoying your stay. Many years ago, Ocean Trails Resort was recommended to us and now we are very happy to do the same. We have never been disappointed and our kids will carry a lifetime of wonderful memories from their experiences there. Enjoy!

Absolutely the best place to stay. Clean, fully stocked kitchens, great amenities. Only complaint is the lack of light blocking drapes. We were assigned a unit at the back of the complex on the hill overlooking the pool. Our entire family, including 3 teenagers, were wide awake at 6 am!!!! Had to buy aluminum foil to tape to our windows. Some of the other units are not as bright, depending on which way they face and their location on the property. Be warned through, the units on the back hill are not for teenagers, naping babies, or anyone who wants to sleep in! Great place for multi generation family holidays!

Although I have lived only. 2 1/2 hour drive from Parksville, and of more importance, Rathtrevor Beach, I have never spent more than few hours there. Imagine my delight to be invited to spend a weekend at Ocean Trails Resort, sitting snugly in a treed, quiet area with the beach a few minutes walk away.
The unit was wonderful with a king size bed in a generously sized bedroom. The bathroom & kitchen had everything we needed including washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave and small appliances.
Bunnies, woodpeckers, hummingbirds & squirrels delighted. The call of a lone raven could be heard nearby.
Of course the main draw was the private access to the beach. When the tide is out one can walk 2 km on the sandy ocean floor. Even when the tide is in there is always sand to entice removal of socks & shoes. It was easy walking the beach. We let time slip by but managed to visit one of the Farmers markets where we found delicious choices for a picnic lunch & to prepare a meal.
We visited the boardwalk in Parksville, Milner Gardens & had dinner one lovely evening before I the forest wrapped me In the softly swaying boughs outdoors as I curled in that huge bed for a peaceful sleep.
The unit was wonderful with a king size bed in a generously sized bedroom. The bathroom & kitchen had everything we needed including washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave and small appliances.

We have stayed at this resort for the past two years for a week with our family. Great for all ages. We especially loved the use of the new pool this year! The condos are very well equipped and it is great to have a washer, dryer and dishwasher to use. Very family orientated. So close to the beach for beach fun too!

Very comfortable accommodations with all the amenities. The location is incredible - Rathtrevor Beach is gorgeous, and there are other really beautiful walks nearby such as the Top Bridge Trail. Unfortunately there was some construction noise and it was disappointing that the hot tub was not available this winter, but other than that I had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend this location!

We had booked a 3 nights stay in December 2021. Before our stay roads on the island were closed due to washouts and dangerous conditions. Government directives were advised for essential travel only. There was also a gas shortage as a result of this at the time. We contacted Ocean Trails to cancel our reservation however they withheld our $50.00 deposit. We understood someone from the resort would contact us however we never did hear from them. . Due to the circumstances it seems like poor customer service and irresponsible to withhold our deposit with these advisories in place. There are many resorts in Parksville and on Vancouver Island to choose from. In the future we will book with another resort.

Thank you for your feedback. The last 2 months have certainly brought challenges, with many events beyond everyone's control. While the Provincial Health Order did not apply to our region for the dates of your reservation, as you say, there were other conditions that made travel more difficult. We do make every effort to be flexible and accommodating, and for that reason, offered to let your party change your travel dates free of charge. As you can imagine, there are third-party expenses associated with a cancellation. Therefore, we have policies in place which for a small fee, allow guests some flexibility to change or cancel a reservation. Since you elected to cancel your reservation, unfortunately we had no choice but to adhere to this policy and charge the $50 cancellation fee. We do appreciate your feedback though, as we are committed to offering a positive experience to our guests. Thank you again and all the best in your future travels.

We stayed in a 2 bd unit and found it very nice. We were able to check in early and the staff were pleasant. A big plus and the reason I chose Ocean Trails is because I am a smoker and they do have a designated outdoor smoking area . Thank-you Ocean Trails for making this provision for smokers, it's hard to find.

We had a great stay at parksville at the Ocean Trails Resort. We did book the stay during the heavy heavy fire season in the interior and by the time we were to go we wanted to cancel to enjoy our summer here since the smoke cleared completely and we hadn’t had a chance to do all our favourite things at home. I thought the cancellation was 3 days notice but it was 30 days, they didn’t mention that when I booked which I thought would have been worth noting. Oops! So we went anyways and had a good time. The pool and the hot tub are fantastic, the walk to the beach is 3 minutes tops, and the grounds are very well kept. Only our suite was a little bit of a bummer. Just small things like we went to use the blinds and they fell apart so we didn’t touch them again all week, same thing turning on the lamp, salt and pepper shakers had no salt and pepper, no cleaning service (due to Covid). Small little things really. So I felt like I spent a lot of time fixing things and cleaning (two small kids). Would stay again though. We did mess up our ferry booking and had to jet out dragging two toddlers in tow at 5:30am so the cleaning staff had to take out our garbage and recycling (which is your responsibility) and they didn’t charge an extra fee so we appreciated that.

We were late arriving, but the efficient staff had left all we needed taped to the office door, how clever. The 3 bedroom unit we were in was exactly the bed configuration we needed. We found #46 needs some serious upgrades, the couch, which is a hide a bed was very uncomfortable, the recliner was falling apart, both need replacing, had to wash the liner in the downstairs shower, the washer and drier did not match so had to watch it when using the washer and the carpet was filthy. Also there was no privacy, only dirt to sit in and sitting right on the walkway to the other units. We have been coming here for nearly 30 years and this was the worst unit we have stayed in and for the price paid, upgrades need to be done. The resort has done a wonderful job in the pool area, good job and having access to the beach at your door step is always a bonus. We had a wonderful vacation

The 2 bedroom unit we shared with another couple was very comfortable - kitchen was very well equipped. We asked for and received a unit right near the path to the beach. If you have trouble with STEEP ramps, you might not be able to walk down to the beach, and would have to drive (3 min) to the Rathtrevor parking lot. My only complaint was with the office staff - we reserved through Booking.com and got a call from the hotel within an hour of making the booking, asking us for a larger deposit than Booking.com required. I paid it, but asked for a receipt/reservation confirmation. It took 3 emails and 3 phone calls over the course of a week before we ever got our confirmation. Very sloppy!

There are lots of equipment and toys that you can borrow. They do not supply paddle boats.

Ocean Trails Resort does indeed have 3 bedroom units.
Ocean Trails Resort is located within steps of stunning and renowned Rathtrevor Beach with its expansive 5 kilometers of sandy beach. There is a wooden switch back ramp from the corner of our property that takes you down the bluff to the beach.
Hello, All of our units are in a park like setting and do not have beach views.
