Hotel's Favourite
This place is our new family getaway. Individual cabins which are very well equipped and more like small homes rather than cabins. Quiet neighborhood and our 6 year old felt comfortable ride his bike around the property every afternoon. The pool is amazing (indoor, with a large main swimming pool and a hot tub as well). This place is comfortable to be at in the colder months too, and there are lots of local hikes and beautiful beaches to explore if you enjoy nature. Parksville is a beautiful family friendly place. The Adventure Playground just a short drive away in Parksville is humongous, and has so many great playground equipment setups for both the very little kids and older ones too. The mini golf and bumper cars on site is a great attraction as well, it's in the same complex as the resort. Two courses, the larger having 18 holes, and it's well maintained and cleverly designed. We are so glad that we found this resort and we can't wait to go back!

What a great facility and within walking distance to the beach and downtown Parksville! We stayed in cottage 205 from December 23, 2020 until January 1, 2021. We are clean freaks and this place was spotless - kudos to the cleaning staff, as it is so important! The cottage was very well stocked with cookware and utensils, coffee pot, toaster, kettle, etc and even had a washer & dryer and a BBQ on the large back deck. The bed was very comfy as well. The cottage was beautifully decorated and was such a wonderful place to call home for 9 days! There are several trails in the area, so if you enjoy a good nature walk, this is the place. The complex also has a pool, but we didn't venture over there and mini golf is an easy walk from here. We will most definitely recommend this complex to our family and friends!

We had a great stay at cottage #152.
Checking in was a breeze and Shauna was vey professional and courteous. Our cottage was a one bedroom with loft. Upstairs was a nice space for our adult daughter to have as her own. It had a queen sized bed and bathroom with a shower and a TV.
Downstairs there was a full kitchen, ample closet space, a washer/dryer, full bathroom with soaker tub and a separate shower. Our bedroom had a king size very comfortable bed with a TV in the room. The living room had very comfy furnishings and a fireplace that was very welcoming when coming in from a chilly day or evening. The back porch had a gas bbq which we used on NYE. The back deck was very big with a table and chairs with an umbrella which we didn't use due to the weather. The unit had everything we needed and some. The area around the cottage was very nice with lots of greenery and fresh air. We brought our small dog with us as this resort is pet friendly. Never used the pool but my daughter used the gym which had a few treadmills. The one thing that really impressed us was how clean the cottage was.
Thank you so much for the enjoyable Island break!

Please note that you can rent one of these lovely 2 or 3 bedroom cottages for less than the cost of 2 weeks if you rent for a whole month. We paid $3300 for a month compared to $3450 for only two weeks as the shorter stay includes taxes but not on longer stays! Our 3 bedroom unit has 3 televisions, 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen. These cottages are also next to a mini golf and there is an indoor pool on site. It is also close to Rathtrevor Beach and downtown PARKSVILLE. The first weekend in April is the annual Brandt festival where thousands of these geese land here to feed on the eel grass and we attended a great woodcarving event. Other attractions in the area include Coombs, the Wildlife Recovery Centre and Milner Gardens. Another great time to rent here is during the annual Father’s Day car show where hundreds of antique and collector cars are on show.

Our month long stay at Oceansides Resort was exactly what we needed! The cottage was the perfect size for us and tastefully decorated. The beds were super comfortable and the bedding and linens were excellent quality and very clean. Having a full size kitchen, washer, dryer and vacuum made it feel like home. We were a short walk away from Rathtrevor beach where we went every day to be near the ocean. Taste Taco bistro and the Black Goose Inn were within walking distance and the food was excellent. We highly recommend the Oceansides Resort, the cottages a beautiful, the grounds well kept and the rates are reasonable.

We stayed here as a family of 6 adults. No partying, just a quiet family weekend. The leaving instructions said, "if you feel helpful, you could throw in a load of dirty towels before you leave and please take out all garbage and recycling (deliver down the road)." We did this and had a load of dishes in the dishwasher, too. When we left, we left 2 breakfast dishes and a dirty pan in the sink. They gave us a a low rating for cleanliness. We gave them 5 stars for everything, and I messaged privately to politely let them know that we did not have enough cups for our party of 6. We also had to clean the patio furniture in the front and back; it was filthy! The bed upstairs was uncomfortable. The manager, Nichole Proch, basically accused us of lying and then cut off communication. It felt like an absolute cash grab, with no regard for customer feedback or customer satisfaction. After giving your review on VRBO, there is no way to give feedback on the booking or review process. It is a one-way set-up: we paid over $1200 for 2 nights and they are not interested in hearing you out. DO NOT STAY HERE.

We stayed here for a few nights. The cabin itself was beautiful. It had a fully stocked kitchen, pretty much had everything you need. I did take a few of my own kitchen items. Some of the dishes had chips on them, one of the pots was scratched up and in my opinion should not be used. We didn’t use it. The cabin did have 3 tv’s, but they were really small tv’s for the big space I expected much bigger tv’s.
It had two bathrooms, it seemed to run out of hot water very quickly so that wasn’t fun. We did have some ants in the cabin, so we sprayed some ant raid and that seemed to help a little. People on the sofa bed in the living room had the most ant problem so that was an issue. The loft had a sofa bed, we would have preferred a regular bed as sofa beds aren’t really the most comfortable. In spite of the few issues we had, our stay was enjoyable, we really enjoyed our family time. We will definitely be back.

Thank you for sharing your experience. A few of our cottages still have sofa beds in the loft, however most of our cottages have real beds. When making your reservation, you are informed of the beds that are in the cottage. As all of our cottages are individually owned, furniture and TVs do vary. Being in a rain forest, certain times of the year, ants can be an issue. If you let us know, our maintenance will come and correct the issue. In spite of the sofa bed and small TVs, I am happy to hear you had an enjoyable stay. We look forward to welcoming you back.

We have stayed here a number of times. It is a beautiful area, nice and quiet. We’ve had issues the last two times we were there with the tv. Having elderly parents who love to relax and watch tv, it was an issue for us. The staff came over both times but didn’t know much about Roku TV’s. It was disappointing to have no tv in the living room, then in the bedroom this last time. My parents couldn’t sleep in the loft due to not being able to take the stairs. So that was disappointing. And the heat was unbearable for us. We were in the loft and with the heat on downstairs it rose to the loft. We had very uncomfortable nights. Having heat pumps with AC is needed for both downstairs and upstairs. The heat was unbearable. We stayed last year as well (Sept/October) and the cabin was unbearable. They brought over extra fans but that just blows the hot air. But the cabins are lovely, with everything you need. I think having AC units is definitely needed.

If you are looking for a place on Vancouver Island to vacation that gives you more room than the average hotel, look no further! We stayed in 210, plenty of space for two couples and we also had other family members visit. Everything you need to self cater is there, including a huge BBQ on the deck. Very clean with comfortable beds and two bathrooms. A short walk to Rathtrevor beach and park where there are beautiful trails. The indoor pool and hot tub was lovely. Staff were very helpful, even called us to let us know we could check in early! Hoping to be back again for longer next time.

We will always choose OVR as our accommodation when staying in Parksville. Having a self contained cottage provides both security and privacy. We travel with our dog and the pet friendly cottages are the best option.
The cottages have all the amenities you may need during your stay. The bedrooms are very spacious and the beds so comfortable. A word of note though, is parking is very limited in front of your cottage, but there are available spots for any visitors vehicles if needed.
We did not use the pool this trip as it was closed but the offer was available to use Tigh Na Mara if we wished.
Thanks once again OVR for another great stay.

There's a mini golf course attached and playgrounds in Parksville (Parksville Community Park and Adventure World Pkayground) and also at Rathtrevor Beach ... all less than 10 minutes drive away.

They do however charge you if you do not strip your beds, turn the dishwasher on and if they decide that something is not to their likely (which is completely up to their discretion). This is a real "buyer beware" situation!

Hi Michelle, Trip Advisor has certain guidelines reviewers must follow. In your review those were not followed, such as accusing us to running a scam. As you may have possibly noted, I did respond to your review but did alert Trip Advisor to the fact that you made such reference against our resort which was unfounded and also included that Visa agreed with you which they would never do. Kind Regards, Kathy Fraser Resort Manager

Rathtrevor is more like a 20 minute walk if you are fit or maybe 40 if you are not. Took me about 15 minutes. I walk fast though. Good luck. Hopefully you don't get loud drunk old people as your neighbors. You also don't get the same rules here as you would if you owned one of the cottages. Visitors do not get the same rules as owners. Owners are allowed to be as loud and obnoxious as they want to be.
