beautiful lakeside inn on Paudash lake in Highlands East in Haliburton.9 rooms some overlooking the lake.3 summer housekeeping cabins.Good swinning and fishing, the lake is known for its small and large mouth bass.Enjoy a fire at night down at the waters edge and listen to the loons.
What a hidden gem in the Bancroft area! Our family of 5 had a great experience here. The initial call to book the room was friendly and helpful. The pictures of the rooms online looked really great, and they did not disappoint. I would describe it as “rustic chic”. The room was a good size with 2 beds, a mini fridge and table. The dock overlooking Paudash Lake is lovely, complete with paddle boat/canoe/kayaks and swim platform for guest use. They even have kid-sized kayaks. They do a campfire every evening at sundown, and bbqs are available. Nice billiard room with coffee/tea bar open all day. It’s a short drive to beautiful Silent Lake PP, and the Paudash Marina is close by with motor boats to rent. Although the place was fully booked while we were there, it did not feel overcrowded or noisy. The resort runs parallel to hwy 28, but we heard no traffic inside the room or at the dock. Somerset will be our accommodation of choice for this area moving forward. Thanks to the owners and staff for a great stay.

Went last week, stayed 8 days total...Had a cabin called Fireside. 2 small bedrooms, small kitchen and a living area with a flatscreen tv. With this we had our own deck and picnic table. Access to the water was about 30 feet away and this has a community dock, with other hotel guest being able to use as well. The owner Mike and his family make this place worth the visit, any question or inquiry was dealt with promptly. Only negatives, beds were double and small, but rooms too small to put a queen in and kitchen also really small. Kitchen didn't have a window cover for privacy, it is needed as you pass this to the bathroom. Check in and check out was easy and we booked direct.

Wonderful little resort on the lake with upscale rooms. Staff very friendly and went out of their way to make you feel at home. Free use of paddle boat, canoes and outdoor games. Will definitely return!

I'm a travel agent who booked in two people to stay at this hotel for a business trip and both had horrible experiences here.
One of the guests arrived a day late, but planned to stay for the rest of his reservation. However, the hotel counted that as a last-minute cancellation so they kept 50% of the room fee and then gave away the room. He was happy to pay for the missed night, and wanted to keep the rest of the reservation. It doesn't make sense to both keep the fee and treat it as a cancellation while also giving away the room. He wanted to pay for the whole stay and they would not let him. I pointed out they were double-charging that night for the room, but they refused to budge and decided to keep the money.
Additionally, the second person showed up on time and within hours, decided he could not stay there as the wifi connection is terrible. He checked out just hours after arriving, and the hotel decided to charge the entire four-night stay, rather than treat it as a cancellation (which would mean a 50% refund).
I would not book this hotel again. None of my clients will be staying here, and you should stay away if you require any flexibility or a good wifi connection.

Stayed only for one night, wish it had of been longer. All staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, cabin and property were well maintained and tidy. Although the weather was crummy we still enjoyed the docks, the lake front, the nightly fire and our cozy fireside cabin. Had a meal in the 28 North lounge. Atmosphere was so lovey, the server was great, food was piping hot. Unfortunately they didn’t have some of the menu items or enough for all of us but what we did end up with was good. Fireside cabin would be perfect for a group of 4 friends who don’t mind sharing beds or a family with 2 kids. I really liked this place and chances are I will return.

Awesome place for a winter getaway in the Bancroft area. My husband and I are big snowmobilers. We usually stay right in Bancroft. Our usual place has gone downhill. After some searching I discovered this gem. Stayed in a little 1 BR cabin right on the lake. Had a well stocked full kitchen. We cooked our own meals and ate much better than we usually would. Very clean and comfortable. We’ll definitely be back!

Book direct not through Expedia. I did not drive 3 1/2 hours to have a room facing the noisy highway & parking lot. I asked about moving to a room (which I had originally booked well in advance) facing the lake and was told they were all booked. Funny because there were only 3 cars in the parking lot and one of them was mine, the other was staff and one was a guest. That day the price for the room was $40 cheaper but I paid full price. The room itself was lovely, nicely furnished, big bath tub and separate shower but not worth what I paid.

Was last minute choice and we didn't regret. Actually, we were a little confused by the fact that Google maps don't know this hotel name under the name given during the booking. So we lost time trying to find the hotel. But once found we liked it. Clean. Beautiful surroundings. Would recommend if you are in the area.

Stayed at this inn for one night. I rated adequate as it is by no stretch of the imagination a Fairmont or Hilton however it is fine for what it is. A well run inn by a beautiful hardworking couple, Laurie and David. Room was clean. Grounds really nice and well maintained - right on Paudash Lake - chairs set out near the water, bonfire pit near the shoreline that's apparently lit every night during the Summer months. There is a main inn which is where we stayed - our room had a balcony and a view of the lake, however there were several cabins around the property. If you like the outdoors you would love this property - understand they are open year round. If I were ever to return to the area would surely stay here again.

To the Management Company of the "SOMERSET LAKESIDE RESORT"
I just wanted to express the disappointment we feel regarding our stay for 3 nights in September
First off..... We don't think you should have the word "RESORT" as part of your name Any RESORT we've ever stayed at was an actual resort.
We didn't want to mention anything about the noise we heard all 3 nights cause we felt we could get past it, considering we didn't have much choice in where we could stay Although we didn't sleep very well
Until we were charged $9 dollars for 2 bottles of water If we knew that was the cost we would have purchased 2 or 3 cases of water for less than that 🙁
All we wanted was to hear........ I apologize for the inconvenience, or I'm sorry there weren't any prices posted Not justification for it Not that we should call to get prices Not that even though our sign says OPEN, we close at night We needed fresh towels, didn't know we needed to come and exchange Sorry we are not from Bancroft, and have never stayed in a resort where they don't come and clean our room and change our towels Especially for almost a thousand dollars for 3 nights where there's baseboard heating and the floor is uneven, and the water faucet creeks when opened and closed Couldn't even see ourselves in the mirror cause of how much it fogged over while taking a shower Not to mention how small the bathroom was, we couldn't move in there at all
We are truly disappointed Was going to write a google review if no one responded to my email, and what do you know.......no one responded and it's been almost a month! I think word of mouth is great, and I will tell everyone!
All we wanted was $9.00 In the grand scheme of things.........that's better than us telling everyone about the stay.
Oh well
Thanks for reading Hopefully this email will force you to change your "call us and find out" policy I doubt it though.....
