Pros: beach, sites are private (old section)

Cons: the park is unkept, the sports activities (mini golf, basketball and ping pong) are unusable and the management is horrendous. The owner is rude, lazy and has a horrible temper. The office and I reachable and communication is non existant.

This park needs A LOT of work.

Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to visit this campground, but we did waste a lot of time trying to book a lakeside campsite for a weeklong RV stay. When the online booking site crashed twice, we began to fear the continued feeding of our credit card info into the internet. The next step was playing phone tag with the staff over multiple days. After finally reserving the site with them on the phone, we booked our holidays and made travel plans. Unfortunately, chaos intervened again when we were told our site had been double booked after the fact, and we were offered an alternate site; far from the water, but close to the front gate. I explained to the staff that I always like to write glowing reviews on trip advisor about quality service and customer satisfaction. Oops. Not this time. Plan B: KOA or a provincial park.

The title sums it up. The owner has anger issues and should not work directly with the public. The place looks like something out of an old western - a dusty old place that has long been forgotten. The water front is not at all what was promised. Will never return.

Most of the overnight sites are fairly open without a lot of privacy. We were lucky to be in campsite A1 which has a fair amount of coverage, and is a full service site.

This campground has a strict 10 kph speed limit, so it is quite safe for kids. There is a nice playground, a basketball hoop, beach volleyball and horse shoe pits. The beach is beautiful.

The owners are a very friendly family, and were very helpful. Their staff are also very friendly and very customer service oriented. They have wood and ice for sale at the office.

You can even dock a boat here on Horseshoe Lake at the campground.

Lots of sun and shade here with plenty of mature trees. Showers are 25 cents for 4 minutes, albeit a little on the cool side. The laundry is $3 a load for either washing and drying.

Most important is that this campground is very well maintained. Grass is cut often, edges trimmed, beach and playground sand raked. The washrooms and showers are maintained throughout the day.

One rule of the campground is that dogs must be leashed at all times. This is a good rule since there are many dogs here, however the owners dogs run free. They are very friendly, but our dogs which are leashed up, as required, were always barking at them.

Golf carts are used at this campground by staff and campers, so you can always hear them.

I recommend this campground as an excellent campground. Our family had a wonderful week here.

Horseshoe Lake Camp and Cottages accepted a reservation and payment for tent camping on June 9 and then they called 2days later to cancel our reservation. They would not refund the money even though there was no notice that they were not opening to tent campers and the facility is choosing not to open washrooms (which I understand why they have made this choice). The Owner was rude and stated that he was out $25,000.00 in his own cancelled vacation plans so it was too bad for us. He told us to take it up with Doug Ford. My Brother booked there as well and had his reservation cancelled. He’s tried to contact the campground multiple times with no success. They refuse to talk with him or give a refund.

Nice of a business to take advantage of its customers in a pandemic

It is a nice place but the owners are awful to deal with. Don't answer the phone, are not available when campers arrive and overall not very friendly in general. Would not recommoend better to try a provincial park if available instead.

We love this park. The sites are large old area is very rustic and lots of trees. Closest thing to a provincial park.
Facilities are kept clean. Very nice beach and access to the lake.

Owners are no nonsense which I like as it keeps the rowdy idiots away. Loud, rude and obnoxious people will be ejected. Covid hurt them like other businesses but they are continuing to do improvements. They are very cooperative if you work with them. Steph and Rebecca mainly run the park and they are an absolute pleasure to talk to.

They rates are very competitive.

This is a wonderful park if you like quiet holiday camping.

Management is very unprofessional and RUDE! Do not book here if you want to have any fun. Our children were spoken to in an awful manner and we will NEVER return. Save your time and money and go some here else… many other places to enjoy and see

Don't listen to the negative reviews... I've been coming up to this park for 20 years; my father 30.

The owner does not put up with idiots and rule breakers.

Clean park with lots to do. Lots of people to meet. Ample beach and docking space.

I spend most of my summers up in this park. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
