Stayed in this campground several times this past summer 2018. Great staff, busy convenient. The warning signs posted every are above and beyond true. Whitehorse has a huge theft problem. In town our truck window was broken and camping equipment taken. So while at this campsite we stood guard. There is a foot bridge entrance across the River to this site and thefts occur nightly. Yes even out of your tent while you sleep. Shame on the city of Whitehorse they know of this problem, say sorry. Little is done to curtail this underground economy. It is even know that many of the stolen items end up in northern BC. Seems to me to be a well established network. BEWARE.

This campground on the main road into Whitehorse is a good option if you’ve a tent, rather than staying at one of the RV gravel carparks. Each pitching area is bordered by a wooden frame which is good to force some separation (and as long as your tent fits), but also limiting in that when the ground isn’t flat you may end up having to pitch on a slope. Facilities are ok, tokens for showers as everywhere in this part of the world (not too expensive) and a portable loo outside for those occasions when the septic tank fills and the facilities are closed-up, as happened during our visit, but was quickly resolved. It is possible to walk into town, but it’s by the highway so not the nicest walk. Staffed whilst we were there from 7am to 11pm.

This place is not as ugly as your typical RV park but it is nowhere close to the serene "Yukon Campgrounds".

Almost exclusively for travellers with tents, they do have about a dozen spots (densely packed) for RV's but, if you are travelling with a 30' motorhome, this would not be a suitable place for you.

It's a busy place, for sure, but still maintains a cordial atmosphere; likely due to the type of people that stay there, and it's clean :)

The big advantage is that you can walk to downtown and there is a magnificent walking trail that you can access right from the campground.

Oh yes, the coffee shop... a must. Great locally roasted coffee, some treats and friendly and helpful staff.

While the girl at the office was very nice the place was very bad.
We checked in to a tent spot and could not even park the car near it how inconvenient! We only paid $20. but had to pay another 5 if we wanted wood to burn. Ok not bad you think, but we had to cut the wood ourself... With a hand saw! Don't you think you guys could cut the logs up with a chain saw first? Ok so we stack some wood on top of our SUV and go find our tent spot, but there is someone in it. And they say they paid for it and have the same receipt I do. They say they rented it a few hours ago and a few minutes after get a call from a friend asking them to come
stay for the night, but the place now won't give them their money back! I mean they are still in the office! So we are stuck now too. They have all their stuff in the campsite and are parked in the stall 50 yards away. We sleep in our SUV so I asked if they would mind letting us swap parking spots so we can set up at least, they are a nice young couple of about 23 and agree, but really? Should this be necessary? They offer to move their stuff from the camp spot to the grass while they are waiting to meet their friends and we offer to help...how uncomfortable for us all. So the place won't refund their money but they have no problem with charging double for it. Anyway we offer them a hotdog because we are cooking them and they politely decline... I think they just want to get out of there. I feel I should give them $20.00 as I'm virtually kicking them out of their spot that they rented first. How dare this place put us all in this position. So anyway they leave and we feel awful.
Man oh man the BUGS in this place we are cooking and they fly into the boiling water and into our food and in our faces and mouths and eyes! It's terrible!
Dirt pads for tents but not just dirt but dusty DIRTY dirt! Sticks to everything! We eat our hotdogs with mustard relish ketchup and bugs and tear down our cooking and get ready for bed with a bit of campfire and the bugs are relentless they keep the fire going by flying into it! Ok I know they can't control the bugs but can they provide a screened cooking area?
The showers use loonies and I think it was $3.00 for 5 minutes but the temp can not be adjusted so it was way to cold for me... And they don't even have hooks or benches or shelves in the shower stall to put your cloths! I guess your supposed to leave your wallet and cell phone and clothes out on the bench in the main area? And then get dressed out there with your wally swinging in little kids faces. Christ! Where is the privacy?
But DIRTY shower! Wow! dead rotting mouse corps with 1/2 the Skelton showing, hair, garbage and scum and slime covering the shower floor! Time running out on the water meter and no where to put your cloths... Trust me you do not want to put your clothes down or stand on this floor without shoes so I shower in my shoes with EVERYHING balanced and piled up on top of the little coin slot box. It was a disgusting place. And there is definitely something big and dead in the bushes outside the bathroom door too!
I know what Dead things smell like!
I'm sure we would have been happier on the side of the road washing in a mud puddle. Anyway I squish in my shoes all the way back to the SUV... Ugg.
Give this place a miss!

Stayed for 4 nights. I called first time in May to make initial reservation for July for 4 nights. Called back in June to confirm for July...had to redo reservation with the lady on the phone because they could not seem to find my reservation. Finally, we get there in July and guess what, they could not find my name in their reservation book! Good thing, they had plenty of availability. So we had to walk down the campground and pick our site.

If you were thinking of getting a campsite between 1 and 56, forget about bringing your car with you. It is not allowed, just motorcycles. So, you will need to carry all your camping equipment manually. For the other sites, they are close to the parking lot so you can park your car beside your lot.

Also, campgrounds, on the east coast, usually charge you 3-5$ for a bag of woods to make a campfire. When you are finished the bag, you can purchase another one for the same price. Here, it is 5$/day to make a campfire. You can burn as much wood as you want in a day, but as soon as you burn, you pay! Even if it is just 1 log.

For the rest, the campground is clean, bathrooms, showers, but non-potable water, place to do your dishes, close to city centre, close to attractions (mountain bike trails, hiking, fish ladder, millenium trail, SS Klondike, etc.). There is also a small store to purchase ice cream, chips, snacks, etc. and a chilling place outside.

Affordable, Unique, and Amenities to satisfy a adventure motorcycle traveler. It was well suited for the style of travel we had chosen. It is my third time in the Whitehorse area and it is a neat experience. Civilization in the middle of a vast wilderness.

And was planning on staying here again in June 2019 but the nightly theft comments gave me a fright. I know exactly where the bridge is. I am not taking any chances with my truck and gear and decided to get a B & B nearby and then head to the Hotspring for camping. The very good was for a yr ago,

Great municipal campground minutes by car from town. This very forested campground sits along the Yukon River and has hot showers, flush toilets, cook shelter(we used this lots while there in June, rained more than the year before) and a food truck parked next to the office, which serves great breakfast burritos. Beware of the fox's that live in the campground and hunt for food scraps or leather goods!
All the staff were very friendly, professional and helpful.
Good ample parking too.
Hope to return in the future.

This campground is only 10 minutes walk from downtown Whitehorse and is there very convenient for getting around. The campground itself is for tents only and the sites are all walk-in (a bit of a pain if your site is at the other end to the car parking). The sites are a good size and far enough apart to feel a bit private. The reception has a small shop with bakery products and coffee albeit the selection is limited. The toilets and showers could be cleaner and there is a useful dishwashing area. Was a little bit concerned with the number of notices advising us not to leave valuables lying about and we were also told the same thing when we checked in - keep anything of value out of sight. Not sure if there has been a problem with theft in the past although we never saw anything during our stay. We would stay here again, mainly for the location

A strange place, with a lot of positives and a couple of negatives. The first is that it is not exactly riverside. The diagram of the camping spots kind of lead one to believe that the sites are overlooking the Yukon River. While they are not far away, there is the city pathway which runs between and therefore kind of cuts off the campground from the pure wildness of the river. The water is also a bit of a problem, as there is no potable water on site. Also the showers cost to use, but as we figured, because we were going to Takhini Hot Springs, that we would skip the shower here and do it there (though we did only stay for one night at the campground.) For those just arriving to the Yukon, and making this their first place to sleep, they should also be aware that WiFi costs almost everywhere because it is expensive to run in the city (and the territory as a whole.) There is therefore a fee for the WiFi at the campground.

The campground is a friendly place, with a small "living room" of outside furniture and a bookcase of books for trade. The staff were helpful and it is nice to have a small cafe on site to buy warm drinks from. It is also really close to the Yukon River, and was close enough to allow for some short walks later in the day. Also not very far from the center for those on foot.

Those booking online might want to find a spot closer to the office if they are driving, as most sites are not possible for driving in. The road is very close to some spots as well, and so those around spot 11 will hear the road throughout the night.

Overall it was a decent enough place to sleep, but the entire territory has so much better in the way of campgrounds, and so this place will probably fall a little short by comparison.
