We stayed here for a night while passing through Peterborough. The house has a lot of history in it but has been nicely updated and is well maintained. We had the Dundella Suite; it was gorgeous, bright, and spacious. The breakfast was delicious and our host was welcoming. We were very pleased with our choice to stay here!

I come to Peterborough 3-4 times a year for 2-4 weeks each stay .The Moffat House is my favourite B&B . The Hosts , Angela and Doug are kind , courteous and discreet . They totally respect your privacy . This house is kept immaculately clean . The towels and bedding are of high-end quality . The rooms are beautifully furnished and are comfortable .I am fascinated with the rich history of this house . Doug will tell you all about it if you ask him . Breakfast is freshly home-cooked , delicious and tastefully served . No wonder Moffat House is the favourite for many travellers . I have met many interesting people from all walks of life and many countries .We all agree Doug and Angela are excellent hosts . Do yourself a favour and come to stay at the Moffat House . You will not regret it !

My family and I had a lovely lunch at Moffat House, the first wed visited since the renovation. It is beautiful inside and they have really done a good job updating it.

I was pleased to see they had a highchair for my 1 year old but I was disappointed to find there were no children's options on the menu. The waiter suggested we select something from the main menu and they would prepare a smaller portion but I really struggled to find any child friendly options. My kids ended up eating the vegetables off my own plate (a dry piece of roast chicken and a couple of bits of broccoli and mash £15) and their grandparents' chips. The waiter brought water for my one year old in a GLASS with a straw.

It was overall a nice atmosphere and the garden was lovely and the kids got out for a play, however I don't think I would go back until there was a reasonable child options on the menu (given that they do supply highchairs and baby changing facilities...!).

The house and surrounding neighbourhood are beautiful and convenient to downtown with parking on site. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent and convivial. I was delighted to be able to invite my daughter, who lives nearby, to join me for breakfast for a very modest cost. The owner, Doug, loves to sit and chat about a wide range of subjects. The entire experience was warm, friendly and to be repeated the next time I visit Peterborough.

I unfortunately did not get to see this establishment because one week before our arrival time I was rudely informed that children were banned. I was verbally chastised for not informing the owner sooner that my nephew was a child of four years old. I explained that a ban on children was an abnormal situation and he should have advertised that fact. He then lied, stating this information was available on the website. It was not. I will not be attempting to go back to this establishment because of his rude and unprofessional behaviour. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

For 10 years our website has said: "If you wish to bring children please call us." When this lady told me that her party included a young child I told her that we could not accommodate her. I was not rude. We do not take children under 10, unless someone is booking all 4 of our rooms.

I have stayed in many bed and breakfasts over the years and had great success. The Moffat House was in a nice location and the room was fine but that is where it ended. Upon arrival I stood inside waiting for some time and even calling out while the owner was in the kitchen playing games on his computer.I finally had to open the door to get his attention. The breakfast was below average and no option was given. The enjoyment of a B&B is the hospitality and this place lacks that for sure. Possibly this place has changed hands recently? Even when checking out I had to open the kitchen door while he sat at his computer. I was embarrassed as I had taken a family member who had never stayed at a B&B and this was not a good example of one.

We are sorry that this guest was not satisfied with their experience with us. When people arrive they sometimes do not ring the bell, but simply come in. This means that sometimes we are not aware of them right away. That is what happened with the arrival of this guest.

We only stayed here one night. We got directions to downtown for dinner. The room was decorated with Trompe-l'œil. It was lovely including the mouse on the baseboard in the bathroom! However, the breakfast was only average and we were not given a choice. There were a few things like the stained upholstered seat. My biggest complaint is that when we came down at the 11AM checkout time, my husband was completely ignored as he stood in the dining room doorway looking directly at the owner sitting just inside the kitchen. The owner never even acknowledged that he was there! He couldn't have missed seeing him!
That is not customer service. It was checkout time and we were anxious to check out to go and visit relatives. In general, he was not very personable either day and should probably choose another business that does not include customer service. The house itself is lovely.

I am sorry that our guest was disappointed. If I had seen her husband I would certainly have spoken to him. I am always interested when people wish to pay. It is a shame that her husband did not say that he was ready to pay.

I have stayed here about 7 times and really appreciate the welcoming atmosphere, very comfortable rooms, friendly hosts, and historical restorations. Breakfast is full with options.
Did I mention the comfortable rooms? That is the key to over-nighting- rest and comfort. I count on it here.

We had a wonderful night at the Moffat House. The owner, Doug, was very friendly and helpful. We were welcomed to a very nice, very clean, very comfortable room (Dundela Suite). They've kept much of the character of the old house, but added a great amenities. The breakfast was very good and was served in a nice dining room where we were able to chat with some of the other guests. It's a bit on the higher end of what we would normally pay, but it's well worth it and all the money goes towards supporting the local economy and not corporate headquarters far or shareholders far away.

Anytime we need a place to stay in Peterborough, we'll be staying at the Moffat House.
